Hello Leland. Been watching you ever since this pandemic hit. I’m 30 years old and played bass from 12-20 years old. Ever since I have been watching you on a daily basis, you have reignited my passion for bass, and I have bought one! It’s been an absolute pleasure watching and listening to you. Thank you for all you do. Cheers.
Hey Mr. Sklar. Never feel bad about not wanting to bring your work home with you. I'm a teacher, and if I didn't set boundaries on bringing work home, it would never stop, and I would be crazier than I already am. 8) It's never to late to get into something new, so if you want to get set up, I'm sure there are many, MANY talented experts in your field who would want to help you, just so you can spread the love even more.
Bowie ,and all of the rest of the field that were never able to keep up with him, have given me pleasure for every time that I have had to try to get my mind away from the madness of not having having Bowie music at the end of the day.

Robin Chrystal Brian May is another soul like Leland........but he rarely tells stories and his vids are too short! Something about these old musicians who made it through a lifetime in a very destructive business........The survivors. The stories they can tell. And have you noticed? Many of them are soft-spoken, self-deprecating gents like our treasure Lee.
The track on the album was a re-record - bowie wanted to use this version (which was used in a movie and released as a single) but MCA refused to grant EMI the rights to the track. So David Bowie had to re-record it with a different line up. the new line up was pretty good though, featured guitar from Stevie Ray Vaughan. Classic music industry BS. So this version is out there as a single and on a soundtrack - the version you might know is from the album though, Let's Dance.

One of my all time favorite Bowie tracks. And used to incredible effect in Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds. I was lucky enough to see David Bowie when he did his Glass Spider tour in Berlin in the late 80's. Still feel the void of his passing, he left us all an incredible musical legacy .
That's cool that you got to work with Bowie, one of my favorite 80s tunes of his. I always preferred this soundtrack version to the later Let's Dance version. Love the moodiness of the intro and the backup singing is very cool too.

Dear Leland. We both have something in common with John Fogerty today (and many others...)! It's our Birthday! So Happy Birthday to us all! The movie was OK but towards the end I was falling asleep. The credits started rolling and my wife motioned me it was time to go but when your bass kicked in I plopped myself back down on the seat and was totally taken in by your playing and certainly took note of Bowie and Moroder. It was the best part of the whole movie ; something you never forget. Thank you and be well.
