I find it rare these days, to find a storyteller that I can just listen to for hours. Bass-playing aside, I find you a genuine, friendly, no-bullshit kinda guy. I love that. Cheers from Denmark.
cgraugaard I second that motion! Greetings from Portugal! Its a very cool thing he is doing here, i am marveled every time. Its a real human-pulsed sharing he is doing here, music runs from his veins to our brains.
Sitting in a small room, playing bass into a small amp at low volume, recorded by the mic of a video cam...and it's absolute tone HEAVEN! Wow....just freakin' WOW.
You are a Natural Raconteur 💚. Light, Love and Peace to you all, 'especially to the wonderful Nurses and all of the great people who are working on the front line 💚
You sir, are a bright spark in a currently bleak world. Best thing on RUclips to take the mind off the thing and put it back on music. Piano Playing Kiwi.
Thanks Mr. Sklar. Don't pay attention to the number of hits on this channel. Just go to bed knowing you've helped out a lot of worried folk with your prescience, humor, and storytelling,. Take care all you internet people.
I enjoyed our visit today, Leland. Thanks for all you do and these daily visits will surely continue once we're free to move about the world. I find myself looking forward to the stories . . . Cheers from Athens, TN.
I was gonna say, the timing twists my brain cells. 5/4 but you make it seem so smooth and easy. I could chew the fat with you forever. Everything you talk about .... Btw my wife and I are retired nurses. Our backs prevented us from jumping back in at the hospital but my wife has sewn over 7 hundred masks.
Dude. Hearing a legend like you covering this song is real inspiration for us youngsters on the scene! Love your videos and LOVE the albums you've played on.
Mr Sklar I just wanted to let you know that I look forward to seeing your daily videos and hearing tales of your amazing career and your Bass lessons God Bless You Thank You so much
Hi Leland, amidst all the madness going on all around the world I made it a habit to listen to your music and your stories every day. It has such a calming effect on me it feels like covid is just a side thing. Greetings from New Zealand!!
What an amazingly beautiful version of this song…! And how good to hear it with the bass in ‘the foreground’ :) ah, and all these stories. Thanks so much, man 🙏
I have been listening to you Lee at night while crashing...not sure what the future holds, but thanks man...you remind me of my old lifelong friends I no longer have anymore...really miss the old days and great to see and listen to you today.
I still can't believe that, a man that I have been listening to for decades, is not an egotistical person, but a great guy/human being. GETTING TO SEE AND WATCH THE MUSIC FLOWING FROM YOUR HANDS IS A, DREAM COME TRUE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR PERSONABLE, STORIES AND SHARING. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES or whatever you believe in. BE STEADY,BE SAFE
Man i love you! Have you ever stoped to think how many people have known you all their lifes (wether conciously or not) and you`ve made happy. It`s astonishing. Thanks so so so much for your music.
Hi Lee , I'm a huge fan of yours for years , love to see you playing with Phil Collins , James Taylor , and I also have seen you play on a video from the fantastic Vince Gill , I'm living in Ireland in a little town called Edenderry , we are going through this damn virus also so as you say we're all in this together, I absolutely love your style your stories and your spirit ,I look forward to a new video every day, so from a small town in the midlands of Ireland Thank you so much for your time and your music , please please please don't stop , All the best of Irish luck and best wishes .... Tom
Leland, thanks for putting these together. They are extremely engaging and a great distraction. Plus, it's very rare to get someone with your talent being candid and real on RUclips.
I really appreciate your video's, bass playing and stories about your experiences Lee. Thanks for being a bright light in a dark old world. Cheers from Wollongong Australia. 😊
Thank you for the wonderful music and stories. I told my buddy Fred Walecki about these videos and he swears he will become a faith devotee. Most of all I thank you for showing how to weather through all of this with grace and wit and kindness. No mean feat in this day and age
What a version of BHS.. still more in love with the original.. your stories are worth a book, Lee.. thanks a thousand times for sharing them with us! Take Care!
Thanks again for a great video and trip through the past. Always learn something every time I watch. I know exactly what you mean by being in the pocket. I think most players that have played for awhile know what you mean and what it's like when your playing out of it. Grove isn't hitting, new drummer, guitarist, ect. but when your in it you know it and the band knows it and everything just comes together beautifully!
You have worked up quite the warm community here! As we all find our own routines in this new lifestyle, we are finding ways to work you into our days! Myself and countless others find great solace in the stories and music you share.
I’ve seen you over the years and always wondered “who is that bass player?” Then I came upon your videos while scanning through RUclips. I’ve shared several of your videos with my grandson who is 14 and just took up the bass. He’s a kick to talk to because he loves all sorts of music. At the moment he’s into Led Zepplin, Green Day and AC DC. Before my sister passed she shared her love of music with him and I’m so thankful. Anyway, just wanted to let you know what a bright spot you have become during these days of “hunkering” down. Enjoying all your stories and I was also a Birmingham Brave 😉 Grew up in Van Nuys. You have sparked so many memories for me. Thank you ♥️
Such a beautiful rendition of Black Hole Sun. And I am really looking forward to the Toto songs and musings about Jeff. My favorite band all these years. And thanks for the Nurse Day shout out. I’m not working at this moment but have been an RN for 29 years. It means lot.
Hey Lee. Been a huge fan for Decades. hearing you play these is truly inspiring, and It 's super cool that you are passing on your "first hand experience". Being there... How amazing... all the things you've done. Thank you for sharing your stories, and your wisdom. Watch every day.
hi Leland, that bass tone sounds fantastic, killer bass line too. i really enjoy your storytelling and bass play along performances. definitely something to look forward too. thanks so much.
THE POCKET - wow, every day there's another wise lesson to learn from you, also the thing with the first take and the thinking q analyzing that ruins it in further takes. You are a real artist, not a dull moment
Hi Lee, your high school graduation picture is the first time I have seen you without a beard! I really enjoy listening to all these stories, please keep them coming!!
You're never "scattered", in my opinion. Everything you say links and synthesizes gorgeously with your theme/s of the day. You are such a gifted story teller. Thank you. You always calm me down.
So heartwarming and fun to listen/watch! I hope you spend one video talking about pocket and groove! It IS so hard to describe, but I bet you can SHOW it! You are such a master of pocket...
Just subbed at Black Hole Sun. I find the playing totally compelling and awe-inspiring to a new bass player . You are aspirational I could listen to your wisdom for hour after hour .
Love Judith’s version of Black Hole Sun, and I’m loving these video chats and performances WAY better than Facebook! The stories are entertaining and can’t be conveyed by typing on FB. I’ll be checking in hopefully every day! Give Maureen a hug for me!
You just had me laughing out loud in my office with the Cocker story. He is one of my favorite artists. Have every CD of his. One of a kind. I Never get tired of watching you play the bass and hearing your stories. You Sir are also one of a kind.
Thank you so much for posting; I'm in no way what you would call a great bassist but hearing you play this made me stop what I was doing, pick up my bass and play along with you. Chances are that you'll never see this but I truly believe that the greatest gift a musician can give is inspiration, and for that I am really grateful.
Leland, your videos are so refreshing. It is so cool that someone of your stature is such a normal, next door neighbor, type person. Been following you in music for years.
Again, thank you Mr. Sklar for your daily update and keeping us educated. REALLY love these stories and I hope long after this crisis is over, I hope you keep your RUclips stories going because we really look forward to these! Nurses RULE! But I digress, I'm happily married to one. All front line workers are brilliant!! Although not much is mentioned anywhere about another group of front line workers... these, being the ones who look after loved ones who have passed as a result of this horrific pandemic. Man!!!! what these individuals have to face as well with those amounts of numbers is really sad and we should keep them in our thoughts (along with many others) as well. Leland Sir, thank you for your wisdom and look forward to listening tomorrow! BE SAFE and WELL!
Leland, the sound of this green Dingwall is incredible! In my opinion the best bass sound in your Dingwall collection! Maybe I’m wrong, but it’s a great pleasure for the ears! Thanks as always to be with us... you are a gift!
In a perfect world Lee would be doing all of these in front of a roaring fireplace even in summer , smoking a pipe . Something about this dude is just SO relaxing . And he’s got a bass player’s mind. That can’t be assumed or faked. Keep on truckin’ .....
Leland, in 2011 I saw you play with CJ Vantson and Phil Collen at Guitar Center. Your bass was the coolest looking custom metal-weight balanced hippy looking high mile instrument. I thought wow there's some history there. I was and am still curious about your story with that awesome looking unique bass. Also thanks for hilariously photo bombing one of the pics my gf had taken. You, CJ and Phil were soo down to earth and chill. even though I was a bit enamoured and in fanboy mode. It was a transformational time for me. I know I speak for many when I say we are so thankful for you breaking down the details and dispensing your wisdom through your masterful and inspiring storytelling. Thank you.
The Cocker story was a big belly laugh... I will be imagining the video to go with that story for days. Rather than dropping everything to hear you immediately, I have found that watching you prime time when I can relax is sublime! I especially like that I find new music and musicians as a result of my newfound knowledge. Judith was one of those. ♥️ This is the good stuff...thank you!
Don't you worry, Lee. We'll be here long after the quarantine is lifted. Your vids are pure gold.
Ditto that!
Yes , priceless - a real positive out of this global screw-up
@michael Gregory they are gold. I got sent here by Rick Beato but these conversations are definitely helping in these odd days
Exactly that! Mr Sklar for president! Skol!
@@andriesdelange6881 Amen to that!

Absolutely. He gives back stories to music we've been listening to for ages and tell his tales so well, with lots of heart.
Sitting in a small room, playing bass into a small amp at low volume, recorded by the mic of a video cam...and it's absolute tone HEAVEN! Wow....just freakin' WOW.
Please don't stop your channel, even when the pandemic is over. It is so good!!! Could listen to you for hours upon hours...
My nightly hangout. Down to basics, just great music and stories. Can't ask for more. Thank you!
These videos are a true treasure for fans of your music and those with whom you've collaborated.

Every video you do is a blessing.
It always puts a smile on my face. I am fortunate enough to realize how lucky I am.
Thank you Mr. Sklar.
You sir, are a bright spark in a currently bleak world. Best thing on RUclips to take the mind off the thing and put it back on music. Piano Playing Kiwi.

We honor you and your wife's service, Bob. My sister is a nurse in Denver, Co, and it's hell out there these days.
Wow be safe Bob and a huge thanks to your wife
