Brooke Lenz is an engineer at SaskPower as part of the Environmental Strategic Issues Management (ESIM) team. Brooke began her career directly out of high school at AMEC (now WSP) as a junior environmental specialist and continued to work there throughout her university career. It is there her interest in geology and the environment was fostered. In 2015, Brooke graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (geological) and was hired soon after by AMEC as an engineer-in-training. Work at AMEC primarily involved management of contaminated sites and Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
In 2019, after earning her professional engineering status, Brooke became an engineer at the City of Regina. Her focus was management of the City's Landfill Gas to Energy Facility which harnessed the naturally occurring gas from the landfill to create electricity that could help power homes and businesses in Regina. In 2021, Brooke was hired by SaskPower and assigned to ESIM, one of four teams currently within SaskPower Environment. She supports other work groups in managing environmental strategic issues with a focus on air emissions and other waste products.
In her free time, Brooke keeps busy with her Irish dance classes and, when she feels she has practiced enough, competitions. Brooke and her husband, Katlin, enjoy travelling, attending sports events, and going for long hikes with their dog, Zelda.
Brooke will speak today about a holistic approach to safety in the workplace.
