Empress of the whistle register. Only she can do stacatto, ascending and descending arpeggios, have understandable diction in whistle, add texture such as airy or piercing, vibrato, she layers them in some songs to build ambiance and can transition from chest to whistle and back to chest in the space of a syllable or start in chest, go to head and into whistle in the same breath. No one is even close to her capabilities. A complete whistle virtuoso.
Mariah Carey wasn't the first singer who utilise the whistle register , opera singers utilised this register before her existence , Mariah can do some staccato's , appregios and even trills in the whistle but compared to a trained Coloratura it's nothing and Mariahs whistle register is disconnected she cannot connect her whistle to chest nor to headvoice , Mariah has amazing use of the whistle register but to say no one is close to her is just delusional and ignorent I suggest looking up singers such as Ingerborg Hallstein , Erna sack , Even Mado robin or gospel singers Debelah Morgan and Francine Jones those singers provide a better example of the transition from headvoice to whistle
Cassandra Swift not that hard to talk in them. Just do a Minnie Mouse impression on them and you can do it, I can even do it! But Mariah control going up and down the whistles is next level and going from airy to clear!!! QUEEEEN
@@RC-yj7dm no it’s a whistle register because when I reach those notes it’s a disconnected feeling I have from the falsetto, and it goes to the 7 octave.
Is Mariah’s case the whistle was neither hard nor unhealthy to do. The whistle register was simply a part of her voice just like her speaking voice was.
chosentenore Are you replying to me? If you were I wasn’t saying that whistle is unhealthy I was just talking about reverse phonation which actually is really bad for the voice.
For me there are only 5 best singers in the world - Mariah Carey - Mimi - The Elusive Chanteuse - The Queen of Melisma and whistle register - The Song bird Supreme... Is there Any other you would like to mention?!

A lot of singers could do whistle but only mariah's the only one pleasant to ear. I can also do whistle and trying to sing like her but nah, I can never do that. Her whistle is so airy a lot of air but controlled. And when she speaks in her whistle "never too far" that's not like a person can do.

0:25 Was playback and it was 2010 not 2013. But she did the scale live once in that same year in Singapore. Well, at least to me that one sounded live.
Why compare her voice to lame singers that can't even reach her register... I compare her to dolphins, birds chirping, smoke alarms going off, and sirens on the highway. I love Mariah 😂😂😂💕💕💕
Head voice/falsetto and flageolet/whistle are connected, sometimes she uses more falsetto and less flageolet tension and vice versa so just think of it as fluid. When she is in between them, it literally gets muddy to consider as either this or that when it can be the mixture of both or in the middle, just think of it as a spectrum. But when you go higher, it is definitely necessary to mix in more whistle so it is easier to hit notes and going lower, you need to mix in more falsetto to bring back the strength and tone.
@@archive2500 whaattt, head voice, flasetto and whistles are three different registers. Head voice is connected to your chest voice, flasetto and whistle are not (and they're not connected to each other), which means you cannot mix whistle into falsetto, or mix falsetto into head voice. That just doesn't make any sense.
@@TomRussle All voices are actually connected to each other. There is no "disconnected register". If you can not connect any of your voice to the other, then you haven't learned to connect them yet. This is the same way as your mix voice, back then, you are just like the people who has separate chest voice and head voice/falsetto until you learned the terms and consciously explore them. Mariah's has many moments of connecting her flageolet/whistle to her head voice/falsetto and vice versa.
@@TomRussle Flageolet/whistle uses the thin parts of your vocal cords, in which, technically, still your cords so there is obviously a way to connect thicker cords and thinner cords. Makes sense now?
