If you manage to hit them 1st, and use your climb rate after a dive, you "can" get them in my me109's... But generally they're such a superior plane!

@@FreedomForAll2013 it's all about energy advantage, and vertical combat really that's how the bf109 dominates spitfires. I mean, the moment you tag their cooling, they're pretty much done for.
Rupert Acuesta that’s kinda BS though. Spits have an excellent climb rate, just no energy retention and top speed.
So if you‘re coalt and with similar energy to a Spitfire, and don‘t have the room to accelerate, you‘re basically fucked in 109s.
190s have their excellent roll rate to extend the game, but unless they can make the Spitty overshoot, they‘re toast as well.
I find the best weapon against Spits is top speed and extended high speed climbs. If in an energy advantage, use your speed to zoom climb or extend, never to turn.
@@NotDumbassable well usually spitfires have the tendency to turn straight AFTER a merge but with 109's I just go for a climb and the spittys cant catch up. Just do that rinse and repeat after a merge they'll eventually lose a lot of speed. Do a high roll and bait them into a stall fight.

As soon as you hit Spitfires with Hispanos, I highly recommend going for the gun upgrades first. As they really, REALLY like to jam with the stock cannons. And nothing sucks more than your guns jamming as you try to shoot someone down.
Otherwise, good video and I enjoyed it.
The Hispano IIs are notorious for jamming if you fire for longer than roughly 2 seconds (no joke). If you don't have the gun upgrades, open the controls menu to be able to fire your 7.7mm and 20mm separately, and start using the peashooters to mark your target and finish them off with a (very) brief burst from the cannons.

I didn't really have any trouble with early Hispanos, but I suppose playing the Tier II Russians helped, seeing as they encourage ammo preservation and therefore short bursts.

I went from 5.0 American fighters to British and holy fuck it is so nice and refreshing. I was getting so frustrated having to zoom and boom. I'd rarely get kills but get criticals and hits because making a turn is a death sentence. Even with the 7.7s of the low tier I can get 5 kills a match in arcade because I can actually stay on someone's tail or turn around on someone behind me. It's amazing.

If your Hispanos start sparking, I suggest using ground target belts as a lot of people found it to be more reliable.
Yeah ground target belt is the best for hispanos because they've got armour piercing bullets while other belts have got semi armour piercing bullets.
Nah Stealths work just fine
for me air targets are better bc they have much more HE

Im using this guide for the hurricanes and it helped alot
Some change tho because hurricane:
- Focus more on side way turning and dodging because its faster to move diagonally then straight up or down
- ias is 215
- 40mm best when tap firing
- rp-3s best against bombers and tank roves
- the wings have 3 segments and the tips can be used as a melee weapon and still keep the plane flyable
One of the late spots outurn literally everything in the game with one wing tho
1 less wing equals less drag meaning more speed. Only problem is landing safely.

In theory, I'd agree with you, and I actually did try tracers at one point, but I found them moreso distracting than helpful when shooting close targets. Universal works fine in my experience
I play the spitfire as a mix between energy and turn fighter
I get the drop on low flying aircraft and quickly get on their tail
Then if they try to escape I simply out-turn them
at this point im rewatching just for the intro.

The weapon maintenance doesn't actually reduce weapon spread it only increases the time before you guns overheat in a long burst
Step 1) get any tier 2 spitfire. Step 2) get any spitfure with 4 hispano canonds as fast as possible. Step 3) get mk24 spit. Here's your way towards meteors and lighting f6. Honourable mentions: spitfires with clipped wings roll way better but sacrifice a little of maneuvrability; the more spread out the guns are (on the wings) the less effective they are; burst-fire your hispano's, and upgrade them if you want to fight anything beyond 500m. When you have only two, can become useless beyond 300 metres. Lastly, if you have read this far, you likely are planning to use spitfires extensivelly. They have veery high drag coeficient for radiator, so when using MEC preferable to close it if you wamt to dive away from a bomber or another turn fighter. Flaps rip at 180 ias even on mk24, and supercharger gets effective (for merlin engines) at 5km, while mk 22/24 gruffon spits seem to be even faster at 5km plus.
If you are like me, and have no SL income, with no money to train crews/buy more spits, i can reccomend either getting the lowest tier spitfire with 4 hispanos and using air belts, or firefly mk1/5. At least mk1 has 4 hispanos, which tear anything at it's low br, and with stealth, you will be commonly ignored, as a slow useless interceptor with a radio operator just chilling in the back, not doing shit. It also has advanced flaps, which when paired with 300-500 km/h ias can give it insane maneuvrability... but in longer fights in realistic you will simply start to stall. Good luck.

Spits are a bit of a weird story, as they are both excellent turners, but also excellent energy fighters (even the early ones) as long as you don't overdo it with turning.
You can also clearly see how they shift more and more towards the energy fighting as they progress, where the Mk.9 (and LF Mk9) really starts to become very energy-centered for a 4.3 its energy retention is about as good as a comparable 109s retention in a straight line, then you get the Griffons and the plane basically does the exact same a 109 does with a slight edge in maneuverability for a little bit worse power/ weight ratio.
And then you get the Mk.24 which is essentially a Fw190D with the climb of a 109K and better maneuverability lol.
This is genuinely good content like damn...

Im so old, i remember warthunder from those days in which the clipped-wing version just could NOT recover from dives at any speed, and used to pancake into the ground scarily often. Shit had like zero lift and no elevator control above 500KMH IAS (mid-low speed for a dive)
and this is why I bring a wingman to fight any spitfires.

I dont know what i am doing wrong but i constantly get out turned by bf109s in my spitfire llb.
spitfire feels like rocket League without the rocket
No mention of the Merlin overheating (mainly the Mk 1 and Mk II), how quickly the griffon drinks fuel (20minutes is sometimes not enough when using lots of WEP) and ground target belts are a pretty viable option too😕
The overheating is manageable tho. Using WEP till you reach 3 - 4000m and then switching to 93% throttle will cool down the engine till your first engagement. You can use WEP for combat, but but try to cool down your engine at any given chance.

Of course its better with MEC but I'm gonna say most people don't use it.

Not going for belts sooner is kinda a bad, hisparkos need belts.
The whole modification guide is wrong. Spits can get by without performance upgrades but they *cannot* survive fights with shitty default belts and jammed guns.
