      It’s actually fairly easy to repair your own iPhone so you can make them last longer and cheap Apple has been lying to their customers telling them phones cannot be repaired.

      The reasons of Apple's failure are themselves as you said: Not willing to adapt quickly, and that is what Chinese companies are doing.
      Chinese smartphones have high brand marketing, high quality, more features in 1/4th cost of the iPhone. There is also more innovation now in the upmarket Chinese brands compared to Apple. Apple has literally stopped innovating and as an Indian, I see even the iPhone lovers are migrating to other brands envying the better features

      If that were true then they would be buying phones that are maybe 70-80% of the cost of iPhone X. And in China, they are no. 3. But really, Americans and Europeans and many Chinese have no problem buying iPhones. This is really an issue of fighting poverty in a country of extreme wealth gaps. So apple can go so far. They might be better off buying an Indian or Chinese company that knows the market better. And sell the high end phones when the Indian market catches up in income.

      @vatsalsrivastav5195 2 года назад +8

She said the iPhone is ridiculously expensive to maintain as most things on the phone costs money, repairing it is costly and even accessories is expensive. She has done extensive self research on iPhone and saw how Samsung has all the features she needs and wants. The iphone is out of her parents budget and even if she were to buy it herself she wouldn't as she would rather buy a cost effective phone and still have money left for other things.

We can get a really good one plus phone for 30k-40k Indian rupee. But I would recommend buying the iPads instead of tablets.Most of the tablets like Samsung s6 and even their latest s7+ get stomped compared to even the iPad Air 3 or the iPad 6th gen. and for MacBooks…..uhh They just such compared to other laptops for half their price like the iPhones.

Many important apps don't work properly in India, Customer care is a mediocre experience, less retail presence, everything is overpriced (headphones, chargers,dongle etc), Not value for money. The expectation from the premium product doesn't match. A 1000$+ phone doesn't have a headphone, fast charger !!!. This money grabbing business will not work in India. It's the spending habits of us Indians. We have grown up with phones(feature) worth ₹1500 to ₹4000. With advent of smartphones people started spending around ₹10000. Now people spend around ₹20000 and get a very good smartphone for all practical purposes. Not many think it is worth to spend around ₹70000 on a smartphone. That's why Apple fails. And we really don't want to spend extra again on so many accessories, repair etc.. As the spending habits are changing and more hype being created around iPhones, I think more people will try iPhones at some point. But there is a stiff competition for iPhone from android smartphone manufacturers as to what people get at the same price point.

  • @akhilmaverick96
    @akhilmaverick96 5 лет назад +422

    I believe there are main 2 reasons for Apple's failure in India.
    1. Their products are way overpriced.
    2. Apple isn't bothered to make a phone catering to an average Indian's needs and financial capability.
    Samsung, who I think has the 2nd best market share, provides products ranging from $150 to $900, and they are doing pretty well in India. Although LG's market share has lowered in the past few years, they still provide few products from $200 to $600 and are doing financially okay.
    We can purchase most premium Android smartphones of reputable brands for 60-75% of the price of Apple's cheapest iPhone i.e. XR. And then there are Chinese brands like Xiaomi and Oppo who provide decent budget smartphones for 20% of XR's price.
    Hence, iPhones are generally bought by people to show-off rather than because of its capabilities and features. Most people will say Indians are too cheap to spend so much on a goddamn phone, and yes, we are. But our cheapness also helps in making smart financial decisions and not fall for Apple's stupid marketing ploys.

      Honest truth, no android phone works as smooth or as fast as an Iphone. I am a tech developer and closely work with IOS and Android. Apple prices their products highly to justify their superior build quality which is a no brainer when compared to other phones. Just hold the new XS max, its a piece of art. Secondly, Apple focuses on improving on what works well, meaning they don't explore new features which don't really add value to the user experience. This is why the core experience of Iphones is much faster compared to android phones. The display, interface and smoothness is unmatched.

      @@muaazkhan2810 an isheep right here.. Where do you work? Tech developer of what? You work with Apple or with iPhone? And nope my friend their software is great but it is nowhere near perfect and nowhere near better than Android, of course lower spec phones won't run the softwares as well as high end phones so your so called "knlowedge" is mere fanboyism. And no xs max is no piece of art just a big phone with some unlocking and charging problems. They inflated their prices so they could get more revenue you don't even know how that works I can see, basic business management Mr tech developer.

      muaaz khan muaaz khan "Build Quality"
      You might want to look up "Louis Rossman". He'll give some good insight.
      The only reason why iPhones work better is because IOS is not open sourced. When you only have to fucking work on one Operating System for once device that lacks features, for example, an inability to play .mp3 files, and on a device that you know the hardware of on every device, it can be easily seen why the OS has better performance over an open sourced OS like Google's Android, which has to compensate for the lower market as well.
      Even so, since phones are getting so fast anyways, I would happily trade more features over a small performance drop.
      As for the "Superior" build quality, let put this into perspective.
      A 5 foot drop would break the glass back on an iPhone 10s.
      Their build quality has actually been doing worse since the Box-Like 5. It all started with "bendgate" with the 6.
      There is a difference between something feeling nice in the hand and something being quality.
      Also in the software department; the things that would add to user experience.
      Thing such as picking your own ringtone, being able to play .mp3 files, or maybe even install .apk files? These things are all amazing to have yet IOS never has been able to do this
      And as I said, Apple has a faster experience because IOS is not open sourced
      Think about their Lowest-End smartphone recently released this year: the 10R. The phone had a sub-par display for flagship prices. It's ppi was lower than the OnePlus 6T for god's sake. For the same price currently, you can get a Note 9.
      And adding to the user experience bit, to know that you can do things like install apps without being restrained to the App Store is amazing. When something comes along, you will probably find a way to fix it.
      Also adding new features is amazing. Do you know how marketing works? If you want to do something big, you have to stand out. You have to really gamble and hope for something good. This is how you innovate. How do you think the best inventions are made? Through countless hours of testing and dedication, putting all that time in the line, possibly losing your job for it, and it will most likely pay off if you do believe.
      Apple shouldn't keep improving what works well, they should focus on other features rather than improve on what is already good in their products.
      At least you have some nice employees in your store.

    Short answer we aren't dumb to buy something that worth 100 usd for 1000 dollars and spend another 1000 dollars next year because apple felt that the last year's phone is useless

    short answer: it's too expensive. this is the case for 95% of the developing world, which is most of the world. Apple sells luxury products, which act as status symbols for people with enough money to waste.
