    Hey everyone! *EDIT: I say in the video "we only meet the dragons [Ran, Shaw, and Druk]." My bad - we, of course, meet Fang, Roku's dragon, who is clearly addressed in the video around the ****8:00**** mark.* This was a *really* fun theory to research. There was just so much to it! QotD: which conspiracy theory do you *kind of* believe, even if just a little? Best theory gets ten points and a blessing from supreme leader Mishka.

      Hello Future Me
      I hate how LoK spat on ATLA's tribute to Eastern culture.
      The best conspiracy theory is the Illuminati. They control a lot but live in the shadows. People joke about them and don't believe in them and they exploit that.

      The World Trade Center building 7. It wasn't hit by a plane, it was brought down by "fires" caused my ash coming from the Twin Towers across the street. If the official story is to be true, WTC 7 is the only concrete building *EVER!!* to be brought down by fires. So this conspiracy theory is justified due to the US government making an impossible claim...

      A conspiracy theory I really like and kinda believe actually has to do with today's topic: in a lot of cultures, eastern, western, african, latin american and even some myths in oceania, contain dragons. i don't know if this counts as a conspiracy theory, but there are rumours of them actually having existed, or even still exist. I very much like to believe it. there's also the rumour that they are hidden somewhere, and like gods controlling the most important stuff. but I'm not sure about that. haven't found anything online (maybe the dragons remove everything revolving around that conspiracy)

      The conspiracy conspiracy! The US government deliberately creates stupid/crazy conspiracies (i.e. moon landings faked, 9/11 was an inside job...) in order to make people less believing of the genuine conspiracies that go on like, say, that the NSA is spying on everyone.

    Also, Iroh probably discovered that if he killed the last remaining dragons, something similar to the northern attack would happen. The sun would probably black out, and that may be the reason he decided to spare them. Or he was simply taught at some point the "ways of the sun" and therefore started to really respect the dragons.

      I like the thinking but how would he know without trying? Maybe he saw a spirit? But he could only see spirits because he was spiritually enlightened, or so I choose to believe. Idk just a lot of interesting questions that come with that outlook

    They took the form of a existing species. For example, koi fish already existed in that universe and it just happened that the spirits took that form but not every koi is spiritual. So the spirits took the form of those two opposite colored dragons just like the moon spirits took the form of the opposite colored koi fish and then just hid among the rest of the species

      What if one's like the sun and one's like the void. Like how Tui and La are the Moon and Ocean Spirit. If there are two of them they should be two different things, right?
      And I also thought that those two are the spirits but the rest of the dragons are non spirits directly, but I thought perhaps they were all like semi-spiritual descendents.

      I assume the blue one represents lightning, if fire bending at it's core is about energy then that would make sense. And lightning benders are a type of fire benders.

    I like to think Ren and Shaw represent not just the sun, but rather the sunrise and sunset. Since the sun turns the sky into a beautiful vibrant color during those moments, just as their fire-breathing did :).

      @@alzhanvoid I feel like that'd be an airbending spirit, because the sky is air.
      Edit: I suppose this would also mean it's ground and sky, which is better because sea is somewhat between. (Between solid and gas is liquid, and the sea can have a murky brown colour, be transparent, be blue or green. It's a mix.)

    I believe that maybe one Dragon is the embodiment of the Sun. The other Dragon maybe lesser Sun Spirits. Like how the Earth Spirits guard the Earth but none of them are the Earth itself.

    • @ironwill6148
      @ironwill6148 5 лет назад +6

      maniacram The existence of the lesser spirits is not vital to the existence of the sun. Hence why once the dragons were driven to near extinction the sun went essentially unaffected. Mind you this is all just head-cannon meant to justify the op’s speculation, so all-in-all it doesn’t really matter.

  • @borkenhautgollum8567

    You know maybe the spirits of the sun just are Ran and Shaw because they just seem taller than any other dragons we saw in the show and all other dragons you see breathing fire just have red and normal fire. So all other dragons were/are just simmilar spirits or even just descendants of the two first dragons (I hope it makes sence 😅)

    @12:08 Conspiracy I kinda believe: Aang is Suyin Beifong's Father. Exhibit "A" Opal Beifong.
    Now before you say that Aang wouldn't do that to Katara, or that she wouldn't allow it... consider this... Blood bending is a thing that Katara knows. If Toph wanted another child and asked Katara, the water bender could have easily just bent Aang's dna into her.(Think on it clinically, don't make it weird)
    It would make sense that Toph refused to tell them who their parents were believing that it shouldn't matter to THEM if one was the child of the Avatar, but not willing to outright lie to them about it. Aang of course would respect her choice on how to raise them especially given that Suyin wasn't an airbender. We have heard of his failings as a parent in both Korra season 2 and the Legacy's book describing their family history.
    Naturally, Toph's Earth nature would be more dominant, and thus their child would be an earth bender too, however she would still be able to pass it on. Especially if we look at the theory that all the "New" airbenders were actually just recessive descendants, awakened by the spiritual density of the harmonic convergence.
    On a side note, it is said that women often choose the same types of men that they see their mothers choose. Lin Beifong got along "Great" with Aang, and even romantically pursued Tenzin. presumably after Suyin was sent to live with her grandmother.
    As we've seen in flashbacks. Suyin was always difficult to control and refused to follow the rules, choosing FUN over responsibility. (Does this reminder us of any penguin sledders?)
    We learned that during her childhood and young adult life, Suyin had several different adventures including sailing on a pirate ship, joining a traveling circus, and living in a sandbender commune. Traveling the world just like a nomad. She is shown to be more accepting of pretty much any other culture or way of life, just as the air nomads were described as by Kya in the comics.
    When we first see Zoufu, we see that she has made metal bending far more versatile than either Lin or their mother. Using it even as a form of dancing. (Anyone remember Aang's day in the fire nation education system?)
    Then, Suyin's youngest child Opal, is revealed to be an airbender. In Korra, it is said that she is a natural. Korra's tone even implying almost disbelievingly so. What if she had her air bending longer than everyone thought? And her mother only made it public when the other airbenders began popping up? They could have kept the secret in Zoufu the entire time, and it would explain why Opal was never allowed to leave. As well as why no one else seemed too excited about the revelation.
    Further, this would also explain how and why Toph and Suyin made up. This was only said to have been "Years ago" not how many... But definitely AFTER she settled down and built Zoufu. One day her daughter begins airbending and Suyin finally figures out who her dad is. In doing so realizing WHY neither of them were told. So she goes to Toph for confirmation and they work things out. It also explains why Toph was willing to just drop Lin's dad's name on Bolin so easily, and why Opal didn't seem curious in the slightest about her mom's dad when she did so.
    Please let me know what you think.

    I suddenly have an idea: maybe because Ran and Shaw deemed Zuko worthy they began to being back the dragons into the world. That's why Zuko ends up with his own dragon in the LoK.
    Or maybe they managed to find more dragons like they did with the sky bison, but I like to think that deeming Zuko, and the avatar, worthy was an important step. There's speculation that Zuko's dragon is the child of Ren and Shaw, but maybe like other dragon eggs in mythos it either takes a lot of time for an egg to batch or the 'right sorta hero' needs to appear for that egg to finally hatch

  • @cailemkostiuk377
    @cailemkostiuk377 6 лет назад +2

    That could be why Iroh told everyone he killed the last dragon, so no one took out the sun spirit and therefore killed the sun and all life on the planet. It would also mean that Iroh would turn on anyone who tried to kill similar spirits, such as the moon spirit at the end of the first season.

    So, two things: The dragons are numerous. We assume that there were once hundreds of dragons, before they were hunted. So does this mean they are sun spirits, emphasize it being plural. The moon spirit was apparently unique, contrary to this theory of dragons.
    Secondly: Does this mean the Fire Nation tamed and subdued spirits? That's pretty hardcore.

      My surmising is that the Lion Turtles are and were the original ones capable of giving and taking away bending from mortals, but when the spirit world and the mortal world were separated, the Lion Turtles' job no longer held meaning, and as such, gave passed on the process of teaching to the "original" benders; the Bison, Moles, Moon, and Sun.
      And over time, when more and more Avatars were born the fewer and fewer people remembered the Turtles and their power.

    In the Avatar Legends ttrpg (which has canon lore) actually does hint at dragons have a connection to the spirit world. Killing a dragon causes an imbalance with the spirit world drawing spirits to that location and cause strange occurrences around the area. The imbalance created even caught the attention of the water tribes who sensed it and even sent envoys to investigate the death sites.

  • @onieni9779

    I think what the creators mean by the four animals being the original benders, is that they the humans learn how to use their respective bending ability from those animal's habits and their related abilities. So the Lion Turtles gave the abilities to bend the elements, while the four original benders taught humans the original basics, understandings, and fundamentals of the marital art to use that kind of bending. Then all other styles came after and were based off the original martial art forms. (Long winded, yeah, but I love avatar)

    I really like the thought because one thing never added up:
    There are three elements whose original masters are animals (fire, earth and air) and only one whose is a celestial object (the moon) eventhough that imbalance is already weird in itself the conversation between katara and zuko at the seige of the north made it even more weird. As the sun rises and zuko escapes katara he says “you rise with the moon and i with the sun“ (or something in that direction xD) but still. That would mean we have two same working elements (fire and water) but still one of them learned from the moon and the other from dragons? That just didn't make sense. But with your theory everything works out! Thanks i really enjoyed that video!

    Another neat point is that the Dragon we see in Beginnings that's training Avatar Wan has no wings, whereas the Dragons in Avatar and in Korra's time do. Maybe they didn't need wings to fly as spiritual creatures, but as physical beings they needed the wings to defy the laws of physics and fly?

    On the importance of the Sun and culture, the Fire Nation takes most it's inspiration from Japan, which also holds a great importance to the Sun and holds the belief that the Japanese people are descendants of Ametarasu, Goddess of the Sun, and they're called "the Land of the Rising Sun".

    Just a thought since the Koi fish were the moon and ocean! Push and Pull what if the red dragon was the sun and the blue dragon was wind (air). We all know how air plays a role in the push and pull of fire 🔥 as well. I don't know just a thought. Also Zuko and Aang fire and air!

    ok but what if the flying bison are the spirits of the sky and the sky is what taught airbenders how to airbend? makes sense that they'd learn from the sky itself because its wind flows dynamically around resistance like the airbender's philosophy
    and what about badgermoles being the spirits of the ground and the ground taught earthbenders how to earthbend? makes sense that they'd learn from the ground itself because it's unchanging and largely immovable like the earthbender's philosophy

    Theory: working under the assumption that the sun spirit(and perhaps another firebending-related spirit) became dragons, and they had offspring that spread through the world, what if that's how all the original benders came to be? Like a sky spirit became a sky bison or a mountain spirit became badgermoles? And now to split off from this, what if the moon and ocean spirits actually had offspring as well, only these offspring evolved over the many millenia that followed? *tldr: elephant koi are waterbending masters*

    Maybe Ran (the red dragon) is the sun and Shaw (the blue dragon) represents the sky. Similar to how Tui and La represent the moon and ocean.

  • @austream1559
    @austream1559 4 года назад

    I honestly think that the dragons ren and Shaw are the sun and star spirits, and that when they reproduce they birth regular dragons, and that would explain why ren and Shaw have survived for so long, and that’s why the sun never went out while the dragons were being killed, and that the golden jewel was the last dragon born to ten and Shaw, and they have it to sulk as a gift for restoring balance.

  • @Axlplayz
    @Axlplayz 5 месяцев назад

    I think that the sun spirit took the form of a dragon, and granted all other dragons the ability to fire bend. Then, as with the bison and moles, the humans learned to fire bend from the dragons- so, the sun IS the original fire bender, but it taught the dragons who then taught the humans who were gifted fire bending from the lion turtles.
    That was complicated lol. 🔥🐉⚡️

    I noticed a tiny detail in your video. That the dragon that Wan learns firebending from has no wings, yet the 4 other dragons we do see do have wings. So maybe the physical form of dragons have wings while the spirit forms have no wings.

    If only one dragon is the sun spirit, then what’s the other? Mine is that it’s something like the Volcano/lava/magma spirit. This sun and volcano relation is pretty close to the moon and ocean relation. But it could be the lightning spirit! Since the one dragon is blue and lightning is too, it makes sense. This would also avoid the weird earth bending connection that volcanos/lava/magma have.

    If you haven't done this topic yet, I'm curious about the difference between spirits like Lady Tienhai and General old Iron vs spirits like Raava and Vaatu, Tui and La, Koh, Mother of Faces, etc when it comes to having a "human form". Tienhai and Old Iron are already humanoid, which allows an easier "transition" I suppose, but if humans can ascend to become spirits (ie Painted Lady) and Tui and La are koi fish, and there are the dragons possibly being a mortal form tied to the sun spirit, can any spirit assume a human/mortal form?

    i think the spirits are in essence a living being, therefore they are able to adapt to their surroundings. just because the spirits comes from the spirit world does not mean they are unable to be a material world creature. we see some attractions between spirit and their material environment in both avatar series.

    If the water bending could be disturbed by the death of the koi fishes, could the sun disappear if the last two dragons (probably the only ones that are really a spiritual manifestation of the fire bending) result in the same effect? As the two coifishes, it seems plausible that the only primordial spirits are the two dragons in the mountain, and that other dragon were descents or something like it.

    In the seige of the North Zuko said his bending gets stronger with the sun so it seems the sun is the source of fire, it may be that the dragons a bit like the truth seekers of wan shi tong. They are not the sun itself but assist the sun.

    I think the lion turtles were the creators of the avatar world, they are completely neutral beings that doesn´t represent anything, then the other spirits were created, and as the spirits of moon and ocean had the form of koi fish when they went to the material world and as Tim says probably the dragons are the sun spirits, the badgers that can bend the earth and the sky bisons are the physical representations of air and earth spirits, that´s my theory, kind of a little expansion of Tim´s one.
