  • As an ex BMW owner, and a current subaru owner, you would probably assume that I am somewhat of the asshat type. But alas! I am actually quite the normal person with a passion for enthusiast cars. The 2013 BMW 135i, or just the 135i in general is a car that is often forgotten in the enthusiast world. In the last few years more and more have popped up making big power and slaying giants when you would never have expected it to.
In this wonderful world we have depreciation, and with that, I think that this platform is an absolute BARGAIN. And by the end of this video, you will see why.

With M-Sport/M-Performance on that DCT, you just don't want to bother shifting manually if you're in a hurry. Kick the shifter to the left, press the "sport" button and there is nothing - nothing you could ever to do shift that quickly or accurately. Trust the DCT - it'll beat you every time.. Talking milliseconds per shift - feels a lot like accelerating in a Tesla; linear power.
The backseat isn't as "bad" as it appears. I'm over 6' and I often take the back if we have passengers. I fit ok, BMW did a great job of maximizing that tiny space to be useable. I've done 100 mile trips back there without too much problem.

I own a 11' 135i Msport. The DCT is exactly the same as the other variants of this time. Also the power to weight ratio is better than the M3 of this time. Its not a very popular car due to people claiming that the lines of thw car throw them off. You can make the handling of this car soo much better with some m3 bushings, and a few other suspension swaps. Also, the non 1m variants are limited to 135mph and the 1m 155mph

@@albertoduran1638 college student here and I currently own this exact car. Bought it in may so it’s been about 3ish months. So far I’ve had a boost solenoid go, the expansion tank failed, as well as the main coolant line to the engine failed. All three things were less than 75$ to fix if you are competent with a wrench. Not the most reliable as far as my experience. If you do end up buying one make sure to research common failure points and check them when you do go to buy it. All three issues are fairly common with the n55. With that being said, I would absolutely do it again. This car is an absolute blast to drive.

Edit: Still pushing 107k miles !
Edit 8/25/2023: Pushing 111k, went in for the usual Tire Rotation, Oil Change etc, got a "small/considerable oil leak" something to check up on but nothing in the driveway, it's going in next week 🙏 for the best I will update what was leaking, hoping its just an oil line and not a valve 😟, besides that no problems

Nice video. Great bang for the buck, and I just got one shipped in myself. Granted, I think a manual and no nav is the way to go in keeping it timeless. That nav will look like an Atari in 10 more years, if one is planning on keeping it long term.

The M-Sport package on the 135i in the states changed two things. You got the M-Sport wheels but they are the exact same size, and came with the same tires (Bridgestone or Dunlop), it also changed the headliner to Alcantara instead of the standard bmw grey cloth. It doesn’t change anything else. All US spec 135i’s come with the M-Sport aero kit, black exhaust tips, M-Sport steering wheel, M door sills, etc. The M-Sport package was first offered mid year 2009. It was a 1500 dollar option new from the dealer, and where most the cost comes from is the headliner (which is beautiful), the wheels are honestly no better or worse then the non M-Sport 135i wheels. Both are 18’s (18x8 front and 18x9 rear) wrapped in 215’s front/245 rear, which are wayyyy to skinny for the car, even at stock numbers. Hope this helps a little :). #BMW4LIFE

@@Alex-ub7tk Yeah, more of a purist's car for sure. We agonized over that decision before getting the DCT - just because it was so damn FAST. No comparison in performance. So we shift with the paddles now, but it just isn't the same.

M Sport means a different front and rear bumper (compare to standard 128i). Stiffer suspension and a lower ride height. Interior has a black headliner, meaty steering wheel, and awesome seats. Let's not forget the nice 261M wheels - 18 in twin-spoke star wheels. All 135i, I believe, have Sport.
IIRC the 135i/135is dct is the same physical unit as the e9x m3 dct but different software.

Why would you want to use a decade old Nav screen and terrible iDrive when you could just have real buttons and your phone on a mount? This spec should also have the air bolsters in both front seats, but I'm guessing you missed that too.
