The software is called xHP i believe... Considering the transmission in the 135i that you reviewed has a ZF 6HP21. The new ZF 8 Speed's and above will be flasheable as well very soon from the same software company... Well worth it from what I've seen in comparo vids and customer's personal experiences from Stock to Alpina Flash to the new xHP TCU Flash Tool. I prefer the 6MT myself, i have a 335i coupe N54 6spd manual. I also prefer the looks of the 335s over the 1-series, except for the 1M, which is awesome! The 2011 BMW 135i came with the N55 engine. It was available with either a 6MT or the 7spd M-DCT. Which is the only other car in BMW's lineup at that time to have the DCT, besides the 2011-12 335iS (N54 only)(6MT available as well on iS), and of course the M-DCT was available on the 2008-12 BMW M3 E90/2 V8 S65...
Anthony G i have a 335is with almost full bolt on but the intercooler. It is running stage 2 tune right now 360whp and 450wtq. I personally preferred the dtc because it is faster but I would love to switch to manual any day because it's fun.
For those that don't know, this car came equipped with a dual clutch transmission from model year 2011 and above. Also the N54 was replaced with the N55, which isn't as bulletproof for high boost applications as its predecessor but is a lot more reliable, not having high pressure fuel pump or injector issues.
Yep, the n54 came with forged internals, while the N55 did not. The N54 is definitely the superior motor technically, (and bmw recognizes this as seen with the 335is (came out after N55 had been used already))
Yes- finally a 135 review! @10-15k, 20 w/ lowish miles, it's a bargain. Swap suspension bushings for M3-- do a Stage 1 tune. I've enjoyed documenting & making videos of it as my project car.
you gonna love it Jaco-- owned it for a year but never reviewed it (do have videos on the project itself tho). No idea how I'd get traffic to a older car (think they last made them in 2012 or 2013 before going to the 2series).
I have a 2009 BMW 135i and its the best car I have driven like ever and I have driven BMW m5, m3, c63, and a GTR, but in the end this car is the best because of the simplicity and what I love about it is that you just drive it's you and the car and the hot girl you just picked up with the car. in all honesty buying this car was the best desition I have ever made and I have done a lot of shit in my life.
My friend has one of these as well, and when I reviewed it I was pleasantly surprised to see how amazing these cars are to drive. His is different with the N55 motor and DCT trans though. Absolutely love these things!
@@supervegeta369 Terrible, sold it about 2 years ago after having so many problems I couldn’t rationally afford to keep it anymore. Still great car though!
Out of the N54 calibration, I think the 135 is the best and possibly one of the greatest products BMW has released out of Munich. Its nimbleness and power to weight ratio is second to none. Pre F-series BMW's had the best balance of analog and tech. Personally I think the 2 series's back end is really ugly. That unbalanced jellybean like taillights and bubble butt really puts me off despite its handsome front end.
BaeThe3rd 135i is the best car theyve made. i love e46 m3 but none that ive driven really compare to the feel of the 135i. i wanna drive a real 1m tho.
BaeThe3rd if I bought a new BMW it would likely be a 2 series as I prefer smaller cars but I still like the looks of the 1 series better. Just spent 3 days ripping around Germany in an M4, videos coming soon. While it was an impressive beast, it's a bit too big for me too daily drive.
I had a 16 R auto and sold it for a 128 and a 3 series wagon, both manual, both inline 6’s. The R is the best all around car out there. I wanted driver interaction and it had little. Hated the halldex system. Hated electric steering and despite it being incredible, grew weary of the dsg. What you should do imho? Get a 135i manual or cayman s for weekends and keep the R for family hauling and daily driving.
i rewired my paddles to be the conventional left is downshift right is upshift you can also replace them with the m3 ones so it feels more sporty. i also tuned the auto trans, it does make it more fun and it does give you more control but this car needs a manual transmission it’s pretty much made for it. one day i’ll do a manual swap when i have the knowledge and money lol.
Cool video, a review of a sports car has to mention the handling though. You can make anything go fast in a straight line, handling is where the real magic is at.
you probably won't believe this but I did buy it. it had 17k miles on it... drove it for 2 days and either the motor blew up or the transmission. at CarMax right now buying a Kia. scared me completely away from bmw.

Justin Bowers nice choice... theyre hella nice inside way nicer then the 135i forsure more space if it matters. the 135i feels like a gocart. ive seen some tuned optima turbos put down some decent power too. not a bad choice at all... plus even lebron james said his kia is one of his favorite cars... but he was talking about the 70k k900 lol
so glad one of my favorite car reviewers is finally back!!!! btw do you use any special equipment to film scenes like 0:00 - 0:17 and 0:50 - 0:56 ? i can never get videos to be so stable
Good review Eddie, first time on channel, you did a great job, I am intrigued by these 135o's and am considering a 2012 M Sport w 7 speed and about 40K on it. I do agree on the styling, something odd about it but I can handle it , seem to be decent value
BimmerTV after giving more thought and based on annual driving I think I would end up spending alot out of pocket. Being rwd in PNW puts a kink in my winter activities. Just not quite the right time. Cars are a guys nemesis, my 15 WRX to date modded at stage 2 has been the most fun car I have owned w excellent gas mileage so I am going to stick w it longer. I still am leary on Euro and being nickel and dime due to km I do per year
BimmerTV perhaps one day but can't afford to have two vehicles and can't end up in a situation I regret. I do like the 1 series and if I could I would prefer to find an actual 128i ,6spd, M Sport w manual driver sport seat, basic stereo, BT and the sport suspension w staggered wheel fitment. The last of the normally aspirated 6's, yeah not as powerful by far but more reliable and easy to work on. I only have one more car to go and then I am moving to electric and get my thrills on my 2 wheels
I have owned my 135i for about 12 months now and the amount of stuff I have had to replace is pretty insane. It does have 166,000 miles on it currently, was about 150,000 when I bought it. Lots more to do still with maintenance and upgrades! If it wasn't for my buddy being a certified BMW tech, I wouldn't be able to afford the thing. He doesn't work for me for free but it's no where near dealer prices either. I would never have bought the car if I didn't have him around. I know a fair amount about cars but when it comes to repairing them, I have lots to learn still!
i got one in 2019. n55 2011 with 55k miles. i wanted a manual n54 but the previous owner installed dinan fbo with bbs ch-r wheels. i couldn't pass up at $16k. the used dealership had no idea it had close to $6k in mods. not that it matters for the selling price but the car would have been gone if i didn't commit the day i test drove it.
Dam you and I have totally different opinion on the 135i vs 2 series. I find the 1 series much better looking. I find the 2 series rear end looks like its missing something. Don't get me wrong tho i like them both, just prefer 1 series over the 2 anyday.
I just test drove the 08 convertible with the auto transmission. Coming from a 08 is350 it didn’t feel any quicker than the Lexus but it’s fully stock to be fair. If I didn’t love my Lexus so much I would have traded it in on the spot
@@tytlyf yes I am sure. Just google some pictures of the interior of a 2008-2010 135i with the 6 speed automatic. The shift knob that the person installed is the DCT knob from the E90/E92 M3. That is why it looks OEM. It is a BMW shift knob, just not the original for the 135i.
having now as a comparison a 135i '11 it really is as firm and harsh to drive as it gets, as firm as an e90 M3, in comparison to my friends 240i... he even thought I had modded suspension or some kind of coilover while im totally stock, lol.
lmao in your dreams. This car is not even close to as good. This 1 series generation is hideous and dated and can't handle or drive anywhere near as well. Try again
i love the 1series it’s just an absolute bargain i had a 128i with a 6spd manual and was a great high school car bargain for fun now looking for a 135i with a 6spd manual
̈ i actually bought the car on my own for only $4200 with a clean title but it was at about 90k miles and i had it till 105k and i never ran into any issues besides oil gaskets
Later edition flappy paddles are somewhat better-my 2011 e93 has different paddles, and you upshift with your right, downshift with the left…Still never use them, its kind of a gimmick if you don't have an actual dual clutch..Fun toy though
So would you guys recommend the 2 series, or the 1 series ? I've heard the n54 is not as reliable as the n55, but I'm not sure. This would be my daily driver, the only reason im kind of liking the 2 series more is because of the interior. However I found a 2013 135i with only 30k miles for 21k
135i n54 is better than the 235i in looks and everything. Only the M2 looks better in that series. N55 sucks and they are NOT more reliable than the N54. I'm a bmw tech and the N55 has way more problems! I'm running 20 pounds of boost on my 135i n54 with bolt ons, custom 95oct tune pushing over 415whp with no problems.
What the heck is going on with that right front fender/hood area? Got some serious misalignment/gap issues going on there. And 2 grand for all those mods?? SERIOUSLY doubt that. Probably more like 5 grand at least but i'm just guessing.
The hood area is a simple fix, there are little rubber things under the hood on both sides than can adjust the height, took me about 2 minutes to straighten out.
I'm the owner of the car, it's true. Ive calculated around $1800 for mods to get that car to where it is. It's been 2 years like that and it hasn't had any issues. Granted, that $1800 isn't counting maintenance. And the hood/fender has been fixed.
Hey can you recommend a good, reliable, practical and kinda fast car for young people for under 10k or 15k? Do you think used japanese cars are the best for reliability?
Maxim Jonson most japanese fast cars are turbo. throwing reliability out the window. with turbos comes many more problems. but its all about preventative maintenance. for under 10k i would only consider a few cars in stock form obviously the best choice is a used 335i/135i (german)!! in cali they can be had for 10k with about 70k miles ,turbo 3sgte mr2 ,or a nice 300zx , for 10kyou can find built turbo sc300s which are one of my favs. built 240sx , or you can find a 5 speed is300 which is rare to find in pristine conditions. just some options id check for personally.
I own an e92 n54 and personally prefer it over the 1 series. The rear tire capabilities and overall interior quality/design on the 1 series is subpar. Not to mention the front end as well. The 3 series is super common and maybe I'm biased but I think the 335i is overall a better bang for buck in terms of repair costs (availability, price) and so on. Cheers.
Hey Eddie, I have a 2000 Audi TT with a new motor build that I love for you to check out. With the new internals it will make somewhere around 500 Wheel, weighing 2600lbs. Let me know!!
love your content, much more for the "normal people", virgins is becoming just like all the other big car channels who only show the cars no one can afford (y)
The BMW N54 & N55 engines are great! But i still would not recommend a 135i, 335i/Xi, or 535i/Xi...... UNLESS you are going to do all your own repairs and maintenance. Otherwise, they become wayy to costly to own out of warranty and will not be a good bargain anymore for someone who see's what they're selling for used, even with low miles, and then relaize you will spend abt 4-5k$/yr if taken to the dealer/shop for all the repairs and maintenance. , Maintenance is key on these car's and things like coil packs are basically considered maintenance. New coil packs every 40-50k miles and plugs every 10k-15k miles, when even slightly tuned... Just for an example
Make a video on a good sports car with less problems that'll cost a high school thousands to fix like BMWs in high mileage and good price of around 15 to 20,000 in any year model as well as affordable car
yea 430hp and 500lbs of torque. that car is lucky to hit 350hp the engine would blow right out of the hood if you turned the psi high enough to get that power
u have a BMW owner here who can't afford an m car. puts his money working weekends in the car and tell his friends his horsepower numbers off the tuning company's website. go get it dyno'd and get sad when u see the tiny number. Or if it really is a lot of power, go call the tow truck on your way to the dyno
Damn you're salty, but I do believe 500lb-ft of torque is a bit outlandish. There are many threads online that include dyno charts of WHP with the N54 motor. With a Jb4 or cobb tune you can push 400 crank horsepower with no other modifications (maybe intake). With things such as a fmic, downpipes, dci, charge pipe etc. you can definitely do 400whp comfortably. The motor comes from the factory with forged internals, so in terms of reliability it's pretty solid, it's usually accessories that fail (fuel pumps, water pumps etc. Standard bmw affair). There are N54 builds that make over 700hp with a bigger twin scroll turbo as well, on stock internals.
Keep going Eddie. It's going to be a little bit before the channel really takes off, but when it does take off, you'll be proud of all this work you had to do to get there

That DCT shift knob...why? Lol
That's the OEM knob.
@@tytlyf no it is not
@@CraneMoto you sure, it looks like it's got some lights on it?
@@tytlyf yes I am sure. Just google some pictures of the interior of a 2008-2010 135i with the 6 speed automatic.
The shift knob that the person installed is the DCT knob from the E90/E92 M3. That is why it looks OEM. It is a BMW shift knob, just not the original for the 135i.
1 series > 2 series
except the M2, that's the exception having driven both. But ya, the M235/240 is just too soft and squishy.
Ferrari Dave Car Reviews 1M>M2
having now as a comparison a 135i '11 it really is as firm and harsh to drive as it gets, as firm as an e90 M3, in comparison to my friends 240i... he even thought I had modded suspension or some kind of coilover while im totally stock, lol.
lmao in your dreams. This car is not even close to as good. This 1 series generation is hideous and dated and can't handle or drive anywhere near as well. Try again
What about the chassis in the 2series? Suspension can always be fixed if it's a good platform
Love that color
Glad your acceleration reactions aren't fake and over hyped like porkers
LOL

Jets Set Nun less Don’t attack Matt like that, he is one of the few genuine car channels
good stuff edd
i love the 1series it’s just an absolute bargain i had a 128i with a 6spd manual and was a great high school car bargain for fun now looking for a 135i with a 6spd manual
Driving an E82 128i in High School = Very Rich Parents
̈ i actually bought the car on my own for only $4200 with a clean title but it was at about 90k miles and i had it till 105k and i never ran into any issues besides oil gaskets
@@chrisdo3017 oh, interesting. I'm Germany looking for a 135i. I currently own an E82 120i with 48,000km
What color is that?! Makes me want to paint mine that color....
Grey
This car is amazing I'll probably buy one soon
Excellent review thumbs up
lol those paddles are so loud when he uses them
The newer BMWs have switched to normal style paddles, up shift - right, down shift - left
You should just do a bargain series! Maybe let's say 10k to 15k or lower
Or just do a bang for the buck series regardless of price (both used and new)
Later edition flappy paddles are somewhat better-my 2011 e93 has different paddles, and you upshift with your right, downshift with the left…Still never use them, its kind of a gimmick if you don't have an actual dual clutch..Fun toy though
I have a 2012 manual. Sometimes i wish i had the n54 but even stock these cars have plenty of power
What tires do you have on your wheels? What’s your wheel specs?
Might be cheap now but damn near impossible to find a 135 with a manual.
abu ess I've got one. Took me 6 months to find a clean one lol
Love mine!
Good review, Fast Eddie.
What the heck is going on with that right front fender/hood area? Got some serious misalignment/gap issues going on there. And 2 grand for all those mods?? SERIOUSLY doubt that. Probably more like 5 grand at least but i'm just guessing.
The hood area is a simple fix, there are little rubber things under the hood on both sides than can adjust the height, took me about 2 minutes to straighten out.
bolt ons for the N54 are pretty cheap
VRSF can get you full bolts ons for under 3k, MHD costs like 99$ or some shit. N54 isn't a bad tuner car but they have their faults.
I'm the owner of the car, it's true. Ive calculated around $1800 for mods to get that car to where it is. It's been 2 years like that and it hasn't had any issues. Granted, that $1800 isn't counting maintenance. And the hood/fender has been fixed.
Nice job on the video
are they reliable stock an what year should i buy?
What tune is he running? and its way more than 2k for full bolt on and tune.
Cheers.
You can get them for under 10k if fl
Hey Eddie,
I have a 2000 Audi TT with a new motor build that I love for you to check out. With the new internals it will make somewhere around 500 Wheel, weighing 2600lbs. Let me know!!
I have the leather 6 speed manual. Fun!
fun fact in europe the e82 1 serie coupe is more expensive than the e90 and the e92
that is really weird.
welcome to europe lol
And the E88 (convertible) is more expensive than the E82
I wish your speech cadence wasn't the same as VV guy. Sentence ending slows down and last few words emphasized. Not sure who copied who.
What are you even talking about?
LOL ur right... I never even noticed
sweeeptheleg i thought i was the only one that noticed that
I agree, but VV does it much worse though. The last 2 words are elongated and emphasized.
Grant Davis A simple example: 3:27 "That pulls... p r e t t y h a r d." Classic Porker speech.
Idk what’s going on with the shifter but it’s very odd looking
Do u recommend us to buy one of those?
can this car charge your phone?
Thanks for the video. Could you review the Jaguar XE (base or r-sport)? Thanks
It's sad that BMW is making a FWD 1 series
Lil beast niccee
love your content, much more for the "normal people", virgins is becoming just like all the other big car channels who only show the cars no one can afford (y)
2 years later this video has 135k views😂
Good advice!
Dual clutch still => Automatic.
Missed your videos man, hope you had a good trip :)
beauty
What color is that
My 128i 2010 weighs 4000 pounds. Weight reduction?
Owner of the car, had it on a scale. With me in the car, it read 3,620 lbs. I weight about 220lbs
No it doesn't. Are you confusing GVWR with curb weight?
The owner only spent around $2K to get all those modifications listed and achieve 430HP and 550lb ft torque?? Really?!?
Not bad tbh lmao even 350z and g35/g37 cost a decent amount to make them faster
you can do it for way less than that
I think I saw this car today at Arby's at Farmington Hills near a Volvo dealership....
Owner here, I work there.. ^^;;
question! my 135i doesnt have that shift knob where can i get that?
doesnt the newer n55 models have DCT?
Yessir
It is a dual clutch tho..
What colour is that car...!? It looks like someone has put clear coat over grey primer...Barfff!!
I don’t know much about cars is this a stick only
They made these with a dct also, quite interesting.
Your videos all seem to follow the same pattern. Really good at the review part but lack of personality make it a bit more fun
Parts arent a bargain on N54 lol fbo is like 2k 😩 plus Tune & E85 😐😑
Thats really not that much.
Mini Bangle But
And it only weighs like 150 pounds less than the 3 series? It should weigh a lot less
Make a video on a good sports car with less problems that'll cost a high school thousands to fix like BMWs in high mileage and good price of around 15 to 20,000 in any year model as well as affordable car
bro why the hell u wearing an audi shirt -_-
Why not
One of those mid-line BMW reviews again? review something interesting Eddie!
pie
Its SMG with one clutch
It's a true 6 speed ZF Auto. I've a trans tune from XHP on it now
nice review and i know yohb lol
stopped watching at "automatic"
yea 430hp and 500lbs of torque. that car is lucky to hit 350hp
the engine would blow right out of the hood if you turned the psi high enough to get that power
Ya Wan Shum lol, how wrong you are...
KozzRFilms ight let me know long the car goes till ur calling a tow truck
KozzRFilms ight let me know long the car goes till ur calling a tow truck
u have a BMW owner here who can't afford an m car. puts his money working weekends in the car and tell his friends his horsepower numbers off the tuning company's website. go get it dyno'd and get sad when u see the tiny number.
There are N54 builds that make over 700hp with a bigger twin scroll turbo as well, on stock internals.
this looks like Jhin's car
it may be ;)
The replica version of vehicle virgins
rather a 128i with a 6 spd manual
You'd prefer no turbos?
