Hey Justin, I was a mechanic in the Coast Guard mainly for diesel engines on the cutters and now that I'm out I think I want to continue my work in marine mechanics. I still have a lot to learn. I've thought about using my GI bill to go to MMI but I was curious if you think it would be better to just apply for apprenticeships and make my way up, or go through the schooling? Sorry for the long comment lol.

Good question and it just depends on if you are mechanical. You already have a background in mechanics so it would be better to start somewhere and move up. Marine school is usually for beginners. I always find you learn more in the field. Hope that helps.
