I think John Pisano is an underrated rhythm player. His pulse and harmony was perfect and delightful! Probably Mr. Pisano is one of the best rhythm session players ever!
ln God We Trust I agree. The entire rhythm section was phenomenal and the guitar locked it down. Without the rhythm section the soloists wouldn’t have the freedom they have.
fedbos91 Yes, Joe almost always played a 175 but John has played 100 different guitars over the years. Nylon, steel string acoustic, archtops usually. Last time I saw him he was playing a very good Chinese copy of a Benedetto called Eastman. Roy is playing that Heritage he often plays.
Cont. from previous post: you wouldn't defend the Kayne west version either id imagine. people who love jazz (and i count myself in that group mind you) try to immediately jump to the defense of anything that caries the jazz label whether good or bad. Sometimes I have to sit and tell myself that some of this stuff is really not that musical And its hard because jazz is such a free form art that you have to really listen to pick out the good. I would like to apologize for the remarks I made.
I would like to clarify. I was not trying to discredit the musicianship of Mr. Pass and Mr. Clark; merely stating that I think (personally) swing jazz has a tendency to take good music and turn it around into something that appeals to some and not others Which isn't a bad thing. As a truest I just feel like (again, personal taste) this song holds a special place in my heart and should not be covered by things that arn't country. For example would you be defending the metalica version? cont..
Roy Clark has to be one of the most likeable people to have ever graced this planet. What fun music.
I can listen to this all day. I have the CD. I would have given anything to be in that studio during this session.

Ultimately soothing, specially for the agitated.
good chemistry
Unrehearsed! Wow! Love both of them. Didn't know Roy had these kind of chops to keep up with joe!
You must be kidding Roy keep up with Joe oh ok it's Joe that would have to keep up with Roy
That's a pretty funny statement.
Great music!
