Finally a creator who is a Stefan girl!!! Like you said, Delena chemistry was obviously amazing. I think the fans just see Ian Somerhalder and not the characters actions. Like let's put Alarics or Matt's face on Damon and see if we'd excuse a lot of the behaviours then. He had some growth, but to me is it even really growth if it all unravels the second the girl he loves makes him a little sad?

I always felt sorry for Kat Graham, and the way they treated Bonnie within the narrative. Kat was shut down in a group interview, when the producer veteoed her suggestion of Bonnie and Damon ending up together, and Bonnie was treated as less important than Elena and Caroline, the white female leads.

First of all, I hate you for reminding me about what Tyler did because I love his character growth and having not watched it in years I’m like “yeah I love Tyler”. Probably better for me to know, though before I rewatch it. Also, I too love Elijah more than Klaus and I’m happy to hear that you do as well. And I think you’re 100% right about Stefan being better in the long run with Elena. My only problem with Stefan was that he always got up on his high horse when he literally was a Ripper and I know that that’s not fair but I haven’t watched this since my frontal cortex fully developed so I might have different opinions now XD

I’d say that the Originals change a lot about perception of multiple characters - especially Hailey and Rebekah. Waiting impatiently for you to watch the Originals 🤞 for me it’s a better show than Vampire Diaries in terms of handling the plot and characters arch although it also has it downs closer to the end.

Watching the show, I was definitely a Delena stan, but I totally agree with you about how his backsliding once Elena was out of the picture (not even permanently) was pretty crappy. It's a pet peeve of mine when writers create this amazing character arc where someone goes through massive development and growth just to have them majorly backslide at the drop of a hat. It really hurts the credibility that Damon and Elena would work well together long term, which is a shame because I love them together (ignoring all the toxicity of course 😂).

The only characters that get god tier from me are bonnie and caroline, whereas personally i was so ready for elena to be gone (i enjoyed s7&8 for that reason help), so straight to prison world i fear, but i also never felt connected to the acting

As far as an actress playing different characters goes, Nina was AMAZING. But she had nothing on Tatiana Maslany who played 6+ totally different characters in the same show (orphan black) all of whom were main characters. Sometimes these characters were different nationalities and impersonated each other. Truly a master class in acting.

also, hello fellow Stefan girlie! Damon is an exceptionally entertaining character, but even when I was following the show back in high school I shipped Stelena and never really got on the Delena train. I completely agree that they really don't make sense long term.
I watched the last few season after it ended (because I'm very ocd about finishing tv-shows) and it was fun to just roll with it without feeling intensely invested in wherever they wanted to take their plot-lines. I only remember how iconic Kai was 😂- insane maybe, but so fun to watch!!!

YESSS I love this video ❤ Oh I can relate so much, I had such a huge Kai Parker/ Chris Wood crush back then. I was obsessed 😅 The karaoke video really brought it all back. I was a Delena shipper but when I rewatched TVD I think I liked Stefan a bit more as a character. And I loved his dynamic with Klaus. I just think he deserved better than Elena. And I shipped Klaroline way more than Steroline. I absolutely would love an OTH or GG ranking or a ranking of tv ships or villains.

I've started watching tvd around the time season 3 was coming out, so I was 11-12. Yeah, that's way too early to watch this show 😂 and to have a crush at a guy in his mid 30s. But it was what it was. TVD was actually a huge factor in my English learning process, I wanted to watch new bootleg episodes on the release day, so I had to learn to read English subtitles.
I fell for Stephan first, my crush intensifying as I heard Paul speak polish, which fuled my delusion for the possibility of meeting him one day 😂 My feelings quickly switched towards Damon though, and I'm pretty sure Ian has been my most intense teenage crush. I'm pretty sure I skipped through the seasons that Elena wasn't in, so I agree with you completely.
And as for other teen dramas, I went through a whle process, which I think you could enjoy as well 😁
So I also liked Kai a lot, and I wanted to see another Chris Wood show. That's how I got into Supergirl (where he stars alongside his wife). The Arrowverse includes a bunch of crossovers, so eventually I got into the Flash (which also includes a Glee guy - Grant Gustin), and that has led me to Arrow and my other huge crush - Oliver Queen/Stephen Amell. Watching Arrow pretty much got me through pandemics and I know, watching superhero shows requires a huge suspension of disbelief (perhaps comparable to vampire shows), but I still had a blast and the main love story is equally as captivating as the love triangle in TVD and way less dysfunctional 😅 you also get the "CW show feeling" from the Arrowverse, so I think the transition would be quite easy 😊
Oh, and Stephen is actually in TVD too! You probably missed him though, it's only one episode I think (he's a werewolf)
