Honestly, my favorite part of this performance is his composure and seamless recovery after the gaffe at the beginning of the 3rd movement. THAT is one of the true benchmarks of musical maturity!
Respect! I always had the impression he was just a technical genius, but he is really great musician. This is much more intresting than hearing Haydn and Hummel all the time.....
There is a God, and his name is Sergei Nakariakov ;) When I saw him live in 2001 I was blown away, even after hours and hours of listening to his recordings. OH, I just heard a mistake, by the strings. ;)
TheVryfst Yes, I heard several mistakes in the high strings. I think this must have been some charity benefit performance or something, because the orchestra was no where near his level. Maybe that's why Nakariakov's performance seemed a bit lackluster. "Let's just get this over with" he seemed to be thinking. I really prefer his fluegelhorn playing, but he really is one for the ages.
This concerto predates the more famous "Concerto in E Minor for Violin and Orchestra". What is amazing is that Mendelssohn composed this when he was only between 12 and 14 years old. Of course, the E minor is a much more evolved and mature work, but this is very impressive for someone so young. And Nakariakov plays it well.
In general, I prefer Maurice Andre's tone, but Sergei's virtuosity is truly wonderous. And let me get this straight: he's doing this performance from memory? Because I sure don't see any music in front of him.
His technique, tonguing, breathing, accuracy are beyond compare. I know this isn’t the best audio recording of him, but his tone has always suffered. Still one of the greats, but just a bit too brassy/tinny.
Oh, there is nothing wrong with it! Dazzling! Virtuose! Perfect! But the question is: does he play from the heart or from the tongue? I probably prefer Maurice André, anyway, after all!🤓🎺🎺🎺
Sergei is one of the most gifted technical players ever. And I know that the sound quality on this video isn’t so great, but I still wish he had a better tone. He’s always been a bit too brassy/tinny. Still, one of the greats.
All the dislikes are from violinists. ;)
...or music lovers.
The only thing that I am going to say is to look at the musicians applauding him.
Haha...
The girls from Cello and second Violin about last variation from Carnival of Venice:
"What? Wait... No... Wait... No way..."

Sergei Nakariakov = Paganini der Trompete!

@@michaelowens5394 yeah... ouch. But we've all made mistakes. Who knows how long they had the music for
Amazing . No one does this kind of thing live like Sergei. A pleasure to hear him every time.

It's in between him and the conductor, a few feet Sergei's way
+Carson Sehr
I don't think so. When he first came out, he passed in front of that music stand, which is for the violinists.
+Johnny Deep Yeah, I think you're right, but after all he is Sergei Nakariakov
Sergei plays from memory most of the time. He is a true soloist. Also, he's been playing this piece for over a decade so it is definitely from memory.
I think its unfair to compare their types of virtuosity. Maurice had a conservative approach to performing, whereas Sergei is more liberal.
Mendez would give a standing ovation.

Best classical trumpet player living today! "concerto for violin " on trumpet! Amazing!
+Igor Primakov Alison Balson?
Alisson Balson is great but Nakariakov is from other world!!
His technique, tonguing, breathing, accuracy are beyond compare. I know this isn’t the best audio recording of him, but his tone has always suffered. Still one of the greats, but just a bit too brassy/tinny.
This is our trumpet king . No one is close yet.
The most wonderful and and the best trumpet player of the world !!
In spite of fine US brass players this playing is more lyric reminding of Dokshitzer. Bravo! Eric Shumsky
typical russian vibrato , like Dokshitzer
VIRTUOSO! SEMPRE PERFEITO.
Magnificent musical performance !

Oh, there is nothing wrong with it! Dazzling! Virtuose! Perfect! But the question is: does he play from the heart or from the tongue? I probably prefer Maurice André, anyway, after all!🤓🎺🎺🎺
throughout the third movement I was thinking that the conductor might be a Jim Carrey creation :-D
19:40 passage, complete mastery.
What a genius!
Respect for this trumpet magician.
Extraordinario. El mejor sin duda de estos tiempos
Sensational tonguing a trumpet prodigy why didn't Dueduval and the LAPhil have Sergio perform instead of the same concert violinists and pianists
Along with everything else, he shows you how to play Carnival of Venice.
This is not the famous violin concerto in E minor. This violin concerto in D minor was composed when Mendelssohn was just a teenager.
wow,,you are the best !!
The best of The Best!
Bravo!!! A presto
Matteo
Nuostabu toki kurinį klausytis , o ypač Sergeju Nakariagova!!!
Sergei is one of the most gifted technical players ever. And I know that the sound quality on this video isn’t so great, but I still wish he had a better tone. He’s always been a bit too brassy/tinny. Still, one of the greats.
