    I’m a new hunter and so far I’m finding your video content invaluable!!! The info you deliver is most likely gonna be the cause of my first deer harvest!!! Thank you and keep up the great work!

      Turns out; following your advice and tactics did in fact lead to my first deer harvest, a buck, and two does for my second year as a new hunter from GA. Excited for my 3rd season. Hunting 2 weeks in Wisconsin with my brother this 2019 season. Thanks Dan!

    Never comment on web But Dan is the man , we are about same age and other than my Dad never heard anyone ever speak and teach so much on wind thermals SE side of mountain ridges Ect Ect !!! Even asked my Dad how he learned what he knew , probably same as Dan he loved the woods the hunt and all that went into the Harvest!!!!!! No videos back then the young guys are truly blessed Dan happily shares his knowledge/woodsmanship skills He earned it all through tons of wet cold feet and sweat n bloody arms Ect Ect Thanks Beast

      I'm truly grateful for Dan's dedication to sharing the knowledge. Gotta understand how important this is for the young generation. My grampa passed when I was around 8. He hunted and fished. I never got to pick up on his knowledge and woodsmanship. My dad worked in politics so that equaled zero outdoor stuff minus a few camping/fishing trips. I WILL DEFINITELY BE PASSING ON THIS KNOWLEDGE TO MY NEPHEWS, NIECES, AND SONS AND ANY KID I CAN GET INTO THE OUTDOORS.

    Hey Dan,
    Thanks so much for the wealth of information, your experience and knowledge. As a relatively new subscriber(s), ( my wife included) we are thoroughly enjoying not just this vid bur all of your AWESOME channel content ! We appreciate your insights. Pushing deep into, the woods, swamp, mountains, takes mental and physical challenges but in the end, the results whether you harvest a buck or not, gives one a GREAT story to tell. We'll from what we've seen thus far you've demonstrated that exactly.
    Happy Hunting !
    Warmest Regards from Chandler, Arizona

    i learned a really valuable lesson when i first moved to wisconsin in 99... i went to work at ariens and one of my coworker told me to roll up my winds and moon roof, but i said why, it's a beautiful sunny afternoon...he just said, you'll be sorry, this is wisconsin and it can change its forecast anytime, then sure enough, 30 minutes into my work i heard loud thunder and it was pouring dogs and cats...one worker said nice pool you have.. stupid me, it took me the 2nd time for me to learn that wisconsin can rain, snow, sunny, or cloudy any given time, since then i always take a tarp with me hunting.

    2nd year I bow hunted 1987 arrowed small buck 1.5 miles from road. Cloudy near river so couldn’t see anything but timber. State mowed paths bu I walked circles for an hour before I realized. Hung my hat at intersection and got out but when you’re tired and had the adrenaline of killing deer you can get pissed (not worried) because you still have out/back/out total 4.5 miles in my case

      @thehuntingbeast  5 лет назад

      I use lower end h/d cameras in the $300 - $400 range on most hunts cause I hunt some vicous terrain and go thru a lot of cameras. About 1 a year. We use better cameras for interviews and such. You can get away with that just fine unless your filming for TV shows, but even then, there have been plenty of shows that have used my footage. I design my own camera arms, cause most are designed for a camera man and team filming / hunt groups where I like hunting and filming alone so I designed an arm specifically for that purpose.

    What did you do about the hunter that left the stand and blind on the public? I myself here in MN take a picture with gps turned on and email it to the DNR :) I know I'm not supposed to take them, but anyone leaving stuff on public IMO have abandon it so I'm within my rights to take it if I want. :)

    Dan (at 12:00) do you think that the little creek was pulling your thermals down and creating a scent pool below your tree when that little buck came in?

    • @thehuntingbeast
      @thehuntingbeast  5 лет назад +1

      Its possible. But I think he just saw me. Its hard to tell in the video, but my feet were only about 6 feet up and I was standing without my back to a tree. I was not much above his line of vision. I did not see a pull to the creek when checking with milkweed, but it certainly had all the ingredients for a thermal pull.

    Dan, or someone help, here in Michigan we get two buck tags and in some areas unlimited doe tags for private land. What if a farmer who let's you hunt for free asks you to fill one of your tags in a area he is noticing crop damage in. He said shoot a couple there please and dont let anything go. It's not one of your spots you expect to hold a mature deer. And on the first sit you see a couple of 1.5 year old bucks in bow range but no does or at least none in bow range. You know with enough time you could kill a doe or two here. (Not guaranteed). Do you fill one tag on a small buck in this area? As a conservationist I want to let them go at such a young age. But the land owner would be thrilled to know I filled a tag here. Also if filming hunts would this type of hunt cause controversy? Im in a dilema because I sat there and saw some 1.5 year old bucks and didnt shoot them, no does. He asked what I saw and I said some deer out of bow range. He said if I dont get one in the next few days he will bring in more hunters or get crop damage tags and let people blast 10 deer of any caliber down. I must reiterate also that this isn't a spot I consider great for potentially killing a big buck during daylight it's just overrun with deer and you can see the crop damage. 8 acres of timber surrounded by a sea of 400 acres of corn. Thoughts?

    • @thehuntingbeast
      @thehuntingbeast  5 лет назад +1

      Thats not really a question I can answer for you... I know what I would do, but you need to decide for yourself. I pretty much am a straight shooter and tell a land owner what I am willing to shoot and if his ideas don't mesh with mine I thank him and move on. I don't want to kill something I don't feel comfortable killing just to make others happy. However, if your happy killing those deer, or want to please the land owner, there is nothing wrong with that.

    • @thehuntingbeast
      @thehuntingbeast  5 лет назад +1

      Its not a tacticam. I was going to sell those cameras, I like there small size, but then all these other cams started coming out and I decided not to invest. Not sure if you can buy them publicly or not. I personally think the go-pro is easier to use than the tacticams. mainly cause of shape and mounting.

    • @bryanroberts
      @bryanroberts 5 лет назад

      Buy an angle intelligent rangefinder. It will give you true yardage no matter how high you are.. Also try to think where that arrow will exit. Always aim for the exit and not the entrance.

    • @thehuntingbeast
      @thehuntingbeast  5 лет назад

      practice from a stand.

    • @69jbr69
      @69jbr69 5 лет назад

      If you are using standard old school broadheads they tend to shoot higher than field points. Get a cheap foam target and shoot it with your actual hunting tip from your stand. After a few shots you will be dialed. Than do the same 10-15 yards in and out. Might burn up an arrow and tip or two but well worth the knowledge for when a monster buck appears. Every setup performs a little different. I do this any time I change mine. Shoot confidently, track less.
