I love this podcast because I relate to his hunting style more then any other I've heard. I've been using two different brands leafy Gillie suits Top/bottom to break up my outline . I feel like deer look right past me 95% of the time. I also carry a back pack with a small chair and a turkey half blind. I've been hunting this way since 2008. I also carry my saddle platform at times for a chair.

Great interview. I stayed up until 2:00 am to watch this. I hunt private mostly so I am hesitant to crawl into the bedroom and leave my scent. However, before I could afford to own land I would do a lot of still hunting with my bow. I saw more deer from the ground. Great content guys!

I got my 1st ghillie 6 year's ago. And at the time I had only been hunting for 2 year's. My 1st sit in it I was just off a deer trail up against the side of a big bush. I never heard anything coming until all a sudden I felt something breathing on my neck it was so close. Then it stomp 3 time's trying to get me to move. I was frozen solid for what seemed like forever. But it was maybe a min, so I slowly turn around and he was just gone like he was never even there. I've gave up stand hunting ever since. I've also had doe walk 5ft in front of me without a care in the world. I've got 3 ghillies and 2 leaf suites to cover any part of the hunting season. I'm the only one out of my friends the use them and they all give me 💩 about it. But I've harvested more deer in the last 5 year's then all 4 of them combined. I went from tree stands, to blinds to ground hunting only. It's not for everyone but nothing ever is. Great episode guy's

I’ve hunted public land on the ground for years. I was a sniper in the army and hiding from a deer is not that difficult. The wind is always in my favor and I make no noise getting in close. My goal is a less than 30 yard shot. In the thick or in the open it doesn’t matter.

Love this way of hunting. At age 36 I decided I would learn to hunt deer. I set out on my own and it took me 3 years to kill my first deer. Now at 73, I've taken around 200, all but one from the ground. I am a small woman so carting around a treestand (plus heights, ack) was out of the question. I carried a pruning shears and a small folding saw in my pack. I would find sign and look about for a blowdown or something I could hide in with a bit of judicious pruning. Or I would sit against a tree with a few branches stuck in the ground to hide me.. Now, I have permanent blinds on my 40 acres, made of old stacked firewood and brushed in. I mainly blackpowder and rifle hunt these days, the crossbow has been retired. I still like to hunt close! I will hunt deer as long as I am able!

This is Todd btw. I didn’t go into all the details but I looked for the buck over a week with no Luck. We had very bad weather around the time and I even looked during that. It’s on public and others were also hunting the same area. This was on a very crowded / pressured wma. After over a week of looking there was nothing else to do but wait till after season.
This area has a ton of hunters constantly and after a week of looking. I could ruin the area for everyone else.

I do make sure to wash my clothes in a unscented detergent with (NO) UV BRIGHTENERS. FYI. There are very few unscented detergents with brighteners. It’s usually gonna be some type of organic detergent. I used to use all unscented. But for some reason it now contains a uv brightener
Sometimes i will attach it to my backpack. Also depends on the area?
