Bill is at his best when he is unfiltered and uncensored. The moment he becomes overproduced by someone behind the camera then he loses his charm. This was one of his best interviews along with his TODAY interview with Willie Geist. It's a shame his HBO show was cancelled. I thought it was starting to hit its stride. Obviously it wasn't for everyone. I think one of his mistakes was making that show with HBO. It limited his audience. If he joins up with Fox, maybe he could have a weekly show on FS1 using a similar format.
omieg89 Agreed. I think he lost many of his more conservative audience/fans with the HBO show. I really enjoyed it. His guests seemed to be a bit more open and unfiltered because they were on HBO.
I wish Bill would have done a sports version of Last Week Tonight. Obviously, Oliver is a one-of-a-kind talent, but a great quick funny abbreviated weekly recap of a few sports highlights with a spin + in-depth report + 1 interview.
Yeah when I saw his HBO show, it targeted a certain demographic. No sports fan is going to want to hear about Malcolm Gladwell talking about HGH, let's be real now except a very small demographic
In the thumbnail Bill looks likes look likes he's been on the run, living off the grid and evading ESPN agents taking them down similar to Jason Bourne's story.
This guy is actually a genius for the kind of innovative stuff he’s created weather it’s been 30 for 30 or Grantland both of which were and still are astronomically successful for his then employers ESPN, they screw him over and he leaves, he has a TV show that wasn’t even that bad but didn’t work out and then went and created The Ringer which was purchased by Spotify for over $100m 2 years ago with The Bill Simmons podcast as their flagship podcast along with all the other great Ringer podcasts. Not to mention he was a fantastic sports writer and columnist who wrote ‘The Book of Basketball’ and literally knows everything about the game. Like I said, a genius.
creator of Grantland, 30 for 30 films, & the best sports podcast...
Frank Matthews the best podcast since Saving Private Ryan
TRUTH! Loved me some Grantland, 30 for 30 and JALEN AND JACOBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never change Bill
Bill has a very clear view and understanding of things, and is very eloquent in expressing it, fun interview.

omieg89 I agree but he wouldn't be uncensored, like you said, if he were to go FS1

Bill Simmons 'The Book of Basketball' is one of the most incredible sports books if not the, ever written. Read it.
Book of Basketball is excellent. Ex-ce-llent. Would you pick it over Sam Anderson's "Boom Town"?
Remember when Bill Simmons was on 2K as a reporter? That was fun
Do not underestimate this guys genius
Great writer, never worked on traditional TV. He needs to be on his own working on the internet.
Vince McMahon he’s doing that and successful at it so far
The Book Of Basketball!!
Him taking Colin Cowherd spot would be a dream come true..
Proud Brother downgrade for him tbh
Hello Bill, Im huge fan of yours, what makes you think that FB is now more focusing on short original contents, instead of live videos? just curious
I wish people would stop mentioning grantland- it's just too sad it's not around anymore- and the ringer is not as good
rls725 the best basketball shows ever.
heterosexual icon, Bill Simmons
Love Bill Simmons and everything he's done...but I'm still amazed how nervous he gets on TV.
A Reitz Maybe you should give him some tips on how to be less nervous if you're such a confident expert
remember he had a TV show on HBO for one week.
gabriel chavez it's a shame it didn't last because it was the perfect blend of pop culture and sports, great interviews on there
The Boston Blogger.
Go read the book of basketball. You won’t regret it
Gotta love Bill for his honesty
ESPN should have separated its licensed content (NFL, baseball) from its in-house content. Create two separate legal entities like Google/Alphabet.
Rugged Bill with beard is so handsome
what's the interviewer's name?
goddess
This lady. Do your research before you ask him that "fired at espn question" wow
This lady look like Rachael Dimes. No Nichols.
Joe Rogan experience created THE PODCAST.
Why have you got to disable comments on Hillary? I'm disliking 10 of your videos for that. I don't like being silenced.
Cdoddsy grow up dude
@Eric Like you? No thank you. I'd rather not live to whatever age you are. It looks sad and defeated.
+Cdoddsy Wait what happened?
Fight the power....stand up for the little guy - you are the internet's Rosa Parks
It's like what Dwight said: you are pre-censored!
He sounds like he' s been castrated
