Loved the talk, it gives more practical clarity on what to do and why: The Work (the first part) == Breath Practice --> Self Observation --> Identify your own robotic patterns/programs/scripts --> Interrupt your own robotic behavior --> Robotic behaviors die down and we get closer towards being Awake. Would love to see similar talks for the rest of The Work.
Thanks, very interesting. I’m presently doing a program called Abhidharma (Buddhist psychology of the mind) and I believe it’s talking exactly your topic this week. It is of course broken down differently but the result is to start with Samatha (calm abiding) meditation and then advance to Vipassana (to gain insight) meditation where you watch the passing phenomenon of yourself , thoughts , emotions, feelings, sensation to see that it is all fleeting and to eventually nip it in the bud if you wish. Watching your stuff gives me a different view (breakdown) which helps clarify the subject. So like I said thanks.
Great talk. I’m glad to report that I have had a few instances of, through the past few months, seeing some results from this model. This talk is really timely, to reassure that it is normal to still find some difficulties, as I do. This is real work… Next year will possibly get really interesting. Thank you so much. Wish all the community and their families happy holidays.
[Noor] Thanks so much for sharing. Wonderful to hear that there has been notable forward momentum with some effort. May it carry you fruitfully into the new year in spite of any challenges you encounter -- and happy new year to you!
Commenting perhaps more for my own sake, but in answer to why we would observe the machine, it seems to me that when I observe there is more consciousness, when there is more consciousness, well consciousness can dissolve and eventually replace the machine in some instances.
[Mushtaq] That is a very good question. the two basic suggestions would be "work on the trauma first" Get that taken care of, more or less, and you will have a better time with other practices. OR, work directly with someone who can guide you through the pitfalls. There are likely other ways, but these are the two that come to mind.
[Mushtaq] The question should not be "when will it" as that makes some questionable assumptions. The answer is that focusing on the breath while self-observing will not become spiritual bypassing in and of itself. To understand why I say this you might want to check out this article, www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-empowerment-diary/201901/what-is-spiritual-bypassing

Thank you, very useful summary to keep in my notes.
Enjoyed this talk. Thank you, Noor and Mushtaq.
[Noor] You're very welcome. Thank you.

That sounds great. Thanks so much for the feedback. Yes, sometimes another angle on the same thing is very informative.

How can we adapt or adopt this practice in relation to continuing to recover/heal from trauma?
