    To clear up some confusion: The hair loss I experienced IS male pattern baldness. What happened was the medication simply sped up the process. I would have likely lost my hair in my 40's or 50's had I not consumed the isotretinoin.

      there's no way of knowing if your hair would had fall at around 40 or 50 ... lots of men lose their hair in their twenties or even in their teen .. .

      40's? nah mid to late 30's if you are lucky. I personally lucked out and it was slow process since my early 20's up until now when I am 32. This year It started to be really noticeable on the sun and under brighter light (when looking from top) which means it is finally time :) It still looks good under normal light conditions and from all angles but top which mean I can get away with having hair at least this winter but it is shaving time in the spring for sure.

      See, why would people hesitate? If people always say life's short then why don't they do extreme shit? And life is long, there so much to do. Most people stay so confined, but there's so much to the world people miss out on. People say "oh grow up" when others do drugs and shit, but who the fuck wants to grow up? Growing up is the most boring shit ever.

      Baldness isn't even the worst side effect it can give you, severe depression is a pretty common side effect of accutane.

    • @lewisalexanderrimmer4655
      @lewisalexanderrimmer4655 8 лет назад +30

      it isn't a proven side affect, mood swings and depression are anecdotal side effects and my doctor said that they are likely caused by body image issues rather than the psychoactive profile of the drug

      +Jason Wessalowski Some people experience permanent hair loss from average doses. Do some research into it. I used to be part of a hair loss forum and you can bet your ass I wasn't the only one. In fact some doctors have begun stating "possible permanent hair thinning" as one of the side effects. isotretinoinsideeffects.com/
      In my situation, yes, the heavy dose for sure attributed to the hair loss.

    Why are you telling people not to use accutane?? You used it in a ridiculously high dose, against medical advice and direction. For some people it's the only option they have to heal what can be a serious disfigurement.
    Your advice should be don't buy prescription drugs off the internet and then completely ignore dosage instructions!! You're lucky you just lost your hair...

    • @chollie427
      @chollie427 7 лет назад +3

      Im only 16 so that might give you an idea how much this means to me, i have very severe pitted acne scars all over my face and I've tried many medications, except for accutane. yet. I used to pick, so my scars are very deep but even without picking it still scars horribly. My face looks disfigured and i really want to try accutane before it continues to get worse :(

    • @spidaminida
      @spidaminida 7 лет назад +1

      jen You poor love, acne is just awful. Yep, you soon learn not to pick hey...
      I'm 37 and I've had acne since I was about 9. Any store-bought facewash makes me break out so I did some research and now I have it more or less under control.
      I use honey as a facewash because it literally draws the bacteria out of your face without stripping protective oils (usually your skin counteracts when facewash does this by over-producing more oil). You *MUST* do a sensitivity test before you use honey though - same as for hair dye - as it can cause tiny bumps on some people which is just as bad as the acne.
      I also only use tissue to dry my face (never towels) and never touch my face.
      If you get a spot that's red and inflamed, dab a tiny bit of normal honey on it before bed. When the spot is no longer inflamed, use pawpaw ointment to heal it. Don't use pawpaw on inflamed spots because it will heal the upper surface and trap the infection underneath.
      If I can help, or if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I feel for you, I really do :/ Good luck!

    • @WytseZ
      @WytseZ 7 лет назад +4

      I've tried Isotrethoïne (the stuff he said he used), in a normal dose. My skin got really dry, my lips sometimes bursted, just like he said his side effects were. But! it's now 5 years later, and i've still got all my hair. My brother used it as well and he still has his hair 10 years later. Just do the prescribed dose and you'll be fine.

    • @spidaminida
      @spidaminida 7 лет назад +2

      Wytse Zijlstra Exactly - the side effects are awful enough when you take it as recommended.

      So yeah he regularly gives opinions about use by anyone, informed only by his chronic misuse/abuse.

    Man, I wish I could be as accepting of my flaws as you are of your flaws. I hate the fact that evil and suffering exists in this world. Wouldn't it be great if we could all be smart, beautiful, athletic, strong, loving, happy, etc.?

    • @someone.who.is.me.
      @someone.who.is.me.  8 лет назад +29

      No. You wouldn't know "smart" without dumb. You wouldn't know "beautiful" without ugly. You wouldn't know "Happy" without sad. But do you know what WOULD be great? If we could learn to accept both ends of the spectrum. To love the entire wave of emotion rather than just the peaks of delight.

    • @jamessteele7102
      @jamessteele7102 8 лет назад +3

      +SWIM Nope, I don't think I'll sign up for suffering if I have any say in the matter. I get your point, but I'm not so sure a system with pleasure is worth it if others of us are also subject to pain. For example, a very smart, athletic, and/or beautiful person only knows of his relative advantage at the expense of others who are objectively dumb, clumsy, and/or ugly. The contrast comes not from oneself, which would be fair, but at the expense of the other, which is unfair. I know, I know, perhaps at some higher level we are both the one AND the other, but that's speculation, whereas the pain of having a bad attribute is very tangible (and painful) in the here and now lives we live, which as you yourself said in your video, feels like a long time. Time will tell, I suppose. Or maybe not.

  • @TheRevScare
    @TheRevScare 7 лет назад +16

    It's possible that genetics played a part. Hair loss in men does not typically begin until at least the late-teens to early twenties if it begins at all. You were still a teenager when you started taking the drug. Your 15-year-old hair means nothing when it comes to male pattern baldness.

    • @marcosagrero2866
      @marcosagrero2866 7 лет назад

      Rev Scare Can you elaborate on that please? I took Trevissage (different brando of isotretinoin) when i was 16. I'm 23 now and i my hair is pretty much the same.

    • @TheRevScare
      @TheRevScare 7 лет назад +9

      Marco Sagrero He's using the fact that his hair was full in his mid and late teens as evidence that it was accutane that caused his permanent hair loss, but it's possible that he was simply experiencing male pattern baldness, which tends to show up in the late teens to early twenties at the earliest.

    • @CrescimoneMatt
      @CrescimoneMatt 7 лет назад

      It could be the accutane but yeah, male pattern baldness happens wayyyy earlier than most guys realize.

    • @TheRevScare
      @TheRevScare 7 лет назад

      Matt Cr. Most men experience some degree of hair loss over the course of their lives. How much you lose is largely a function of how early you begin to lose it, and how aggressively it progresses. It mostly depends on genes. Some guys think they're safe in their 20s after showing no visible signs, and then it hits them hard in their 30s.

    • @CrescimoneMatt
      @CrescimoneMatt 7 лет назад +1

      Rev Scare Mine's kind of weird. I got hit really hard at like 21 (maybe started earlier, not sure). It's certainly noticeable, very thin crown, some thinning on top, but not so bad to where I feel the need to shave. Or at least I feel like I have enough hair left to where it looks okay, guess it's just personal preference. But since then, it hasn't changed at all (at least not noticeably so). Maybe I just lost that amount and it'll stay where it's at? It's been 5 years. I guess we'll see. I was also under a great deal of stress mentally and physically when it happened, so that's probably a factor. I'm still under that stress now, but hair looks the same to me.

  • @holnrew

    If it's not genetics why is the baldness only on top? I think it's just a coincidence.

    • @Buddlebot
      @Buddlebot 8 лет назад +2

      Because the hair on top of your head is most sensitive to drugs and hormones. DHT, a male hormone causes hair on top of the head to fallout due to the hair follicles being shrunk. It could be that in someone's genes they naturally have higher levels of DHT (DHT is extremely potent male testosterone, which is good for muscle and facial hair growth). It could also be that in their genes those cells are triggered to die from timed cell entropy. Even the immune system can kill them off naturally. But in his case, he claims the drugs thinned his hair. It could be that the drugs caused early balding. It could be in his DNA, we could look at his father for example. Also, in chemotherapy hair falls out from the top first.

    P.s dude, in this day and age, we are transitioning through the hipster/indie/alternative fashion era and everybody is more blended than we were 25 years ago. Very soon stigmas like being bald won't affect peoples potential for meeting women etc. Just like there are hipster hairstyles these days that literally involve shaving your head and growing a beard to contrast. You're a good looking dude and shortness only impedes the materialists from approaching you. Something interesting i've noticed growing up - girls that have bald dads (very common obviously) tend not to have an aversion to baldness. I think it's partly because we tend to pick mates that resemble traits our family members have. Anyway man, food for thought!

    *if you have bad acne*...
    1 - apricot scrub, every day, in the shower. Equate version is just fine
    2 - use your bath towel *once* and then wash it (dry on highest heat possible)
    3 - DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE
    4 - because you'll fail at step 3, wash your hands as much as possible.
    5 - If you must pop a zit, have some neosporin, or if you can get some from your doc, Mupirocin, and put just a bit on the zit after you've popped it and *never* touch it again.
    This will decrease the amount of acne anyone has.

    I was almost 15 my hair started thinning after a breakup, starting high school, in which my anxiety skyrocketed. Before then I was extremely self-conscious about every little thing, even though I was extremely handsome. When I was 15 and a half my doctor told me the good news, my thyroid was fine, the bad news, that I was balding and it's genetic. I held onto my hair for the next few months. I would dye my hair, get special haircuts, or grow it out and do a slight combover. Eventually at the end of 2016, I shaved it. I realized that there was no point in hanging onto that anxiety. If an opportunity to make it better arises, I will take advantage of it but I will not linger on my hair. I've still been trying to adjust to being bald, but it's been difficult to accept it. I realized how much we take for granted. Some people cry about a bad hair day when some people are living their lives bald. Thanks for this video, I haven't tried psychedelics and really want to. I feel at least trying shrooms or dmt may help with my insecurities. If I do anything, I'll make sure I watch your videos first. Thanks

      A lot of people experience the same thing as you, the fact that you accepted and embrased it so quickly is great. I have a friend who started loosing his hair in his teens and now (early 20's) it has thinned a lot. Once before a night out he was combing and using some wax trying to style the little amount he had. He sighed and was clearly not liking his balding look. I told him that no person will think of him differently because of his hair, whether he had no hair or a lot, but because of his actions and personality. He looked kind of relieved and said thanks.
      I don't have a great hairline myself, but still has a good amount on top and I have just come to terms with the fact that I will be balding when I get older. My dad has thin hair, my mom's dad was balding and my uncle was balding, it is just how it is.
      You're not being single for the rest of your life because you're balding. Are all the bald/balding guys in the world single? Ofc not.
      Just be positive and confident in yourself and life will reward you naturally! Don't beat yourself down because of how your hair looks.

Yes there is a physical attraction, and at your age most females with be very superficial, but there are the rare ones who put looks aside and see you for who you are, not your thinning hair. My hair has been receding for over 10 years and I can still kinda get away with it but I'm close to shaving to the skin and be done. I would really like to have a good head of hair, but I never really have. The trick is to accept it's gone and then just allow it and don't stress or struggle with it. You can't stop it, but you can get over it.
      You don't want to be balding? Shave your head and take away the whole problem. You want to enjoy your hair for now while it's still there? Stop wearing hats and have hair while you do. Don't bother trying to comb hair to where it isn't
      It could be the wearing of the hat all the time is causing the loss of the hair.
      Ask everyone who you care about your hair and ask what they thing of you without it. their answers (if they see that you are sincere) will make you feel much better when you find out they don't mind and that it might look good without anyway.
      This is what I think about it.

    You likely would have gone bald regardless. Just happens that you took that medication prior to the time period you were due to lose your hair due to genetics anyways. Looks like diffuse thinning combined with receding male pattern baldness. If it was purely due to medication and not genetics you would have hair loss on the sides and back too.

      No he didn't say that in the video. In the videos timeframe, he seems to believe his baldness was 100% caused permanently by the medication, which is wrong. He even said its genetics in a comment, but hasn't updated the video description.
      And even with male pattern baldness, there's medication that can make you regrow up to 60% of lost hair.

    hey man i took Accutane and lost all my hair within a year at 22. im currently 26 and have started doing PRP treatments which is where the take a blood draw and take the enriched blood cells and put them under your scalp. this rejuvenates the blood flow and opens old follicles for growth again. its been 6 months and i dony shave my head anymore, and have 75%hair growth. diet plays a big role too so eat well sleep and no smoking. i also take biotin daily which is a vitamin for hair/skin growth kind of like a prenatal.
    anyone on accutane... STAY out of the sun or sun tanning beds and DONT DRINK ALCOHOL.

  • @alexanderhamric9189
    @alexanderhamric9189 6 лет назад +4

    Accutane closed my growth plates and also caused a thyroid deficiency that decimated my ability to function normally for a while before I caught on. So I'm short, acne is still here, and had to recover myself from that 6-7 months that I was taking it and the 3-4 months of recuperation it took for me to have normal levels. I wanted to be perfect for this woman and it was a mistake haha. I definitely both regret, and don't regret it, because it also forced me into the same scenario. I had to face being short forever, and also still getting acne either way.

    I'm short and have had health issues that have caused me to gain quite a bit of weight, I totally sympathize with the vanity thing. I used to be thin and very athletic, so when the weight gain started I went to desperate, unhealthy measures to lose it. I did a lot of damage trying to get rid of it, so now it's even harder for me to lose weight. It's sad how we as humans go to such extremes trying to "fix" things, only to cause other, sometimes worse problems! I go to the gym and eat healthy and I'm learning to have love for myself in spite of not having a "perfect" body. It's an exhausting journey, but I'm committed.
