Thank your for your video. I followed your instructions and installed the NVIDIA materials lib. Unfortunately though, I am experiencing the following phenomenon : most of the mdl's after being dragged and dropped, show no texture and they only show black in all their versions. Some work but most do not. They also render plain black as well. Running Vis 2020. Any ideas ?
I have a question about the SolidWorks API and would be thankful if you could answer. I'm currently trying to write a macro that runs on a part of an already existing assembly. I have one custom property that is the number of parts in an assembly. I want to change the active document to the assembly and loop through all the components inside the assembly and if the name matches the name of the part, add 1 to a global variable and in the end that would add up to the number of parts. I've already figured out much of the code, but the only problem I have is changing the active document from the part to the assembly and then back to the original part. Thank in advance.
Yes, MDL support was first added in the 2019 version but it was unfortunately limited in the sense that the appearances could not be edited. Visualize 2020 and newer versions allow editing of the MDL materials as well as more reliable previews of the materials in the different render modes. It is possible to install newer versions of Visualize alongside older versions of SOLIDWORKS in the event you want to take advantage of the newer Visualize features, but keep the CAD files in 2019 format.
