    Great video. Thanks. An accurate way to tell is something is square is to measure diagonally, corner to corner. If they are equal, it is square.

    How did you make the board you’re using? Fabric over wood?

    • @starkeart

      I use a fabric paint tarp over a 3/4 inch 2x4 ft piece of plywood. :)

      @@starkeartDid you glue the tarp down to the plywood or did you just staple it tight around the board? Thank you for sharing your skills and talent. I am learning a lot and enjoying the process.

    What brand is your iron? Does it ever leak onto your projects?

      Black and decker digital advantage. It only gets spitty when the water runs all the way out or if it has fallen asleep and I try to use it before it gets back up to temperature.

    If the yarn is not colorfast, can you still use steam and avoid the colors running together?

    • @starkeart
      @starkeart  Год назад

      Yes, because the steam disapates so quickly it doesnt reactivate the dye. If you are concerned, don't use any sizing on it, just steam. But sizing should be applied so lightly it shouldn't activate it either. Msg if you need more help!

    Thank you for your video. How long do you leave it on the board with the pins on? Also, how do you do this process on a project that doesn’t have a square that you can line up?

    • @starkeart
      @starkeart  3 года назад +2

      I usually leave it on over night, it depends on how misshappen it is and what the fibers are. Sometimes I light spray and steam once a day for a few days. And the stitches are a line to follow as well. That is when the quilting ruler is a very important tool. But also you can visually see if they are straight. :)

    What is your canvas laying on??????

    • @starkeart

      My blocking board is 3/4 inch plywood. They sell it in 2x2 & 2x4 pieces at home depot. I use a cloth paint dropcloth to cover it. But I have used a old white sheet I had. Use a staple gun to secure on the edge.

    Silly question - do you use a hammer to get the tacks back out of the plyboard?

    sorry if I missed it, but do you wet the piece before stretching, please?

    • @starkeart
      @starkeart  2 года назад

      No, never wet block. Only light steam. Over dyed fibers can run. And it removes the sizing from the canvas. 😊

    Whoops, ended by mistake. Can you answer a question? What kind of material is the board you use? I have old arthritic fingers, and it’s a challenge to nail into plywood. Thanks

      I use a fabric drop cloth and i use a staple gun. My electric staple gun is for people like us with arthritis!
