As someone who has put in more than 10:000 hours into this craft for the past year and a half, I have got to say Jacob is right. Because I have not Focus and practice enough on my craft and gone straight to writing for most of my time, now I have to focus back on the basics and practice on every element if, like I should’ve done, if I want to get better screenwriter, story creator, and story Teller. Don’t be like me, PLEASE!
I agree with you - I too am in the same position. Been writing and barking up the wrong tree for too long. Been on several courses and read loads of books. But have to say Jacob Michael’s teaching is the best. I will follow his tips from now on - starting from the very beginning. I’m on his screen writing fast track and doing it SLOWLY! Another 10,000 hours, here we come.

For storytelling, I would recommend learning the Six Principles of Persuasion. Robert Cialdini’s, “Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion” is a great book about how every human can be persuaded.
I'm an artist who's practicing screenwriting so I can create comic books. This was eye opening. In art you have to do focused studies if you want to master the fundamentals, but it never crossed my mind that the same applied to writing!

Yeah, discerning the fundamentals is a challenging task. I do boil down what I have found to be the fundamentals in my Fast Track course, so you could look at that and see the Module Main Topics, and that will at least get you started. Of course, there is the Fast Track itself, but I know that's not for everyone. Still, you might want to check it out... but the Module Topics I go through will help you know at least what are the big things you should be focusing on if you want to do it on your own. If I can help, though, let me know. (A link to the Fast Track is in the description of any video if you want it.)

I support the "beautiful game." I'm an equal opportunity fan, so I don't really have a team... I just love watching it played well. I used Man U because they are recognizable to people who are only casual fans of the sport. So if you're a Man City or a Liverpool fan, all good!
