The TS9 has been available here in the Philippines since 2019, initially selected as the official duty sidearm of the Philippine National Police before it later became available in the local civilian market. I believe the little hole at the back of the slide plate is the locking point keeping the plate held up. Same on the Mako and BB6 if I'm not mistaken. A punch to push it in should let you remove the plate and get access to the striker.
@@JD-tn5lz I disagree since this pistol has been out long before Taurus got new management in the US. Nor is this pistol a Taurus USA made pistol. It is a Taurus Brazilian made pistol.
Ts9 in Brazil is the go entry for us Brazilian in the IPSC/shooting sport, and the g2c got very popular due the price and size for concealed carry (only option for civilians). Great all around out of the box. For optics, most of the times we change the back sights for a sight plate for it.
One thing I really like about Taurus is they try new designs and have interesting aesthetics. I wish they'd bring back the TCP and the 709 slim though.
That's a really nice looking pistol. That aggressive grip texture Taurus has is awesome. I'm a little irritated that they gave you one that is scratched. That shouldn't have cleared quality control. And you should've received 3 mags
Just bought one for $239 after all the positive reviews. On the forums, Taurus haters are hating on them, but everyone that's done reviews seem to think they are worth the $499 MSRP.
I have the ts9...the non safety versions have the plastic plug in that spot that looks just like the safety. It's not supposed to move. Though it looks like it should.
The hole in the slide plate is where the pin is accessed to remove the slide plate. That pin has the striker spring riding on it! Push in the pin and remove the plate. Caution that pin is under pressure! Also according to Taurus the trigger safety has been made in operable in USA. Probably because someone would do something stupid and get hurt and want to sue!
My manual safety doesn't work either but I believe it's intentional. I think they wanted the pistol too be as glock like as possible and simply deactivated instead of removing it which would probably involve making a new mold - always a big expense.
Thank you! Great review! READ THIS PLEASE, SEE BELOW REGARDING YOUR MANUAL SAFETY. I have yet to read your article on this pistol. Mine did come with a manual. I believe your pistol should have as well. The fact that your pistol has a scratch and is missing the manual shows your pistol had been out of the box and handled a bit for some reason. The gap under your "safety" indicates handling as well. See the following. The ambidextrous slide stop/release and the manual safety are optional. My pistol is identical to yours. If you look at the tag on your box (there should be a tag), it will say "NON-MAN SAFETY". That's a polymer insert to cover the space where the safety would go. I spoke to Taurus and was told they aren't currently making any with the manual safety. AFAIK all the pistols that came to the US have no manual safety and have the ambi slide stop/release. I have seen a few of these blank inserts slightly bent, with a gap underneath like yours, probably from users trying to operate the safety. I RECOMMEND NOT TRYING TO FORCE IT AS YOU COULD FURTHER BEND IT OR MAYBE EVEN BREAK IT. The TS-9 is much more like the BB6 than it is like the Kimber. The TS-9 shares the modular striker assembly design with the BB6, as you demonstrated, while the Kimber uses a more common design similar to Glock et al, with a striker riding in a machined channel within the slide. Any pistol that has this was touched by Bubits design. If the Walther has it as you said, the patent was likely licensed from Bubits. As I understand it, the design allows the machining of the slide to be simplified. It can be done with a single type of milling machine instead of two or more types. The indent on the rear cover is the same as the BB6. Depress it with a punch to remove the cover and pull out the striker module. This is when you will realize that this pistol is almost identical to the BB6 in design and features if you take the BB6 slide apart as well. I have a video from Bubits himself showing exactly how that comes apart on the BB6 as well as explaining the design benefits. Yes, Bubits did intend to have no open space under that rear cover, like the BB6. Yes, it is intended to keep crud out. You will notice that there are no open slots on the bottom edge of the slide all the way around it. This is done with the same intention. I have a video of him talking about that as well. Incidentally I dry fired the heck out of mine for days before shooting it. The trigger definitely benefitted immensely from this, so my trigger was much better by the time I took the pistol to the range. Thank you again for the wonderful review. Your work is excellent and well appreciated.
The safety delete kinda reminds me of the original Steyr M9, with the non-safety version still retaining quite a bit evidence of the safety. Bubits does seem to have a thing for trigger blocking safeties.
Pretty unique concept firearm and strange at the same time, you should also do a TH45 review not too many on it in RUclips but it is said to be their cream of the crop firearm
only the safely below the trigger looks bad, else the gun looks good and well made. I am looking at my first Taurus gun with full chamber support using this beautiful bullet.
Another advantage of the side ejection port: would help keep crud off an optic, and virtually guarantee brass wouldn't impact the front lense, too. Speaking of which, if they see fit to offer a TORO version of this, I may get more interested in it.
I have one firearm with a side ejection port. It is NOT a benefit. It is ever so slightly (maybe one in a thousand) more prone to stovepipe than any of my other firearms and because it does that to the side, it doesn't immediately block the front sight post...so it's just that extra half moment to see and clear. No, small ejection port and side ejection is a bad bad bad idea.
Own two of them, one I needed to send back. One of them had the wrong color frame and wrong color on the label?1? One was suppose to have a grey frame but all black and what I ordered on line. They serial number that I returned should have had a green frame. Tell me how Taurus managed this screw up? Now they need to send a green one which I didn't want, pay a transfer fee and do the paper work all over again! On the ones for The manual safety on the trigger guard is non functioning, which they didn't disconnect it.
Yes, their policies are poorly written by folks who don't understand firearms and then enforced by people who understand neither the policy nor firearms.
Are the manuals really such a big cost that they cant include a paper one? My APX didnt come with one, it said "request a paper manual at such and such site" which I did and they never sent. Point being that gun is actually quite hard to disassemble and it comes with no manual
It seems like the right side slide lock was sticking way up during most of the review. I saw that inserting the mag made even the left side slide lock lift a little but it was still pretty much in line with the slide stop cutout, but the right side looked like it was lifted. The takedown is weird…seems like you need an extra hand. It’s different and good to see Taurus bring new (kind of) guns to market…but the QC doesn’t seem as good as the US made Taurus stuff, maybe? Guess it’s a sample size of 1.
Hello, I enjoyed this review! I have one of these pistols and was curious to know how and where you found the manual online? I have looked all over on the web. The manual Taurus has for download on their website is for the PT92 not the TS9. Thanks for any info you can share. BTW, the box mine came in says "No Manual Safety" on the lable. So basically the flipper in the trigger guard on my pistol won't move either. Thanks Again!
I also had a BB6 but finally sold it after fruitlessly looking for magazines, holsters and parts for over a year. Too bad - it's so funky looking it really stood out but it worked. Do the Taurus mags work in your BB6?
@GBGuns Thank you for responding. I have a couple of ported barrels and this might not be a problem with them. But, having fragments of bullet plating flying around my face is something I am pretty sure I do not want to happen. I am a faithful follower and enjoy your content very much.
Looks like you got an ABPW (Already Been Played With). Missing mag., missing manual, scratch and possibly bent manual safety. I hope you got a good deal on it.
It wasn't missing a mag - they come with 2 standard the case just has space for 3. The safety is optional - when sold without the safety a non-functional filler plug is installed which is what is seen here (all of them imported to the US have the safety disabled).
It’s a recontinuation/ redesign of the BBTech’s BB6 if I’m not mistaken. The BBTech’s is a very innovative firearm that never saw massive success in America.
Aqui no Brasil.
Did not like the BB. Heavy trigger, weird grip, etc. I knew Taurus bought the BB patient years ago, nice to see it in the wild. I am sure the price is right and might gove it a ( second?) shot.
I've had a TS9 since 2021. It's a great weapon, reliable and rarely fails. Here in Brazil it comes with 3 magazines, the owner's manual and the trigger lock works perfectly... It's a shame that the laws that our new government is imposing are partially making it impossible to acquire new weapons in 9mm, which is now considered "restricted". How good it would be if we had a 2nd amendment....
Grabagun does for Oregon shipping addresses, but at least they tell you. Pay full price and get no mags.... but they also sell mags as a separate item.
"Initially exclusively accessible to international military and law enforcement clientele, the Taurus TS9 successfully surpassed the demanding NATO testing protocols. It stands as the preferred pistol for Brazil's most elite special operations units and is in service with law enforcement and military groups globally." - Hook & Barrel Magazine There won't be many available here in the US anyway. These are over production pistols. I agree after seeing all the features that its not a pistol I would want either. But it is interesting and innovative.
This was never planned for the US. taurus is desperate to sell what it has of these, which leads me to believe once these are sold that will be the end of it. All of this is due to Brazil banning handguns after years of back and forth, which left Taurus in a pickle.
Rather annoyed to find that the price on the Taurus TS9 suddenly dropped over $120 at various online vendors. I purchased mine for $347, but now they're available for $225! Crap!!! Oh well... good for the people who waited.
It’s very weird. Considering that absolutely every variation of their GX4 pistol is SUCH a big deal, they don’t seem to want anyone to know about the TS9. Oh, just an FYI, according to the latest issue of COMBAT HANDGUNS Tisas is releasing another budget 2011(ish) model. Part of their Night Stalker series, this one lists for $960. CH seemed to like it, but then again, they seem to like everything. (Thank God for RUclips!)
My 1st impression,,looks like an extra large G3CX.The PT 24/7 was a much better looking pistol. But I know looks mean nothing.I think Taurus can do better. The G3 is a better pistol.
NO manual!!! HAHAHAHA!!! Taurus being Taurus! My 92 came without the loader (I don't care, I don't like them). The ejection port looks like "For range only, don't buy this crap!". I fired one on two ocasions, not bad, but I don't want it.
@@GBGuns it's too small, if something goes wrong while feeding it's too hard to insert a finger there. In my first session with a TS9, january 2021, I had two feeding problems. With my G2C I also had two failures to feed but was much easier to solve them due to the large port. I have a problem with reliability, maybe that's why I have a five shot 38 as my primary gun (jacketed bullets only, since lead between barrel and cylinder can jam the gun - I have a second 38 revolver with misalignment problems and that gun jams with soft lead bullets, I will fix this 34 yrars old problem as soon as possible). I read somewhere that one of the firrst modifications on the 1911 prototype was a port enlargement to improve ejection. I don't have reasons to doubt. I have a PT92 and that gun has no port. Taurus advertised the small port as an advantage to prevent lint and sand from entering. Since they make the 92... wich one is the crappy one? Large or small? As a brazilian, I don't trust anything from taurus.
You can be reassured that this gun was not designed by Taurus, it's one of Bubits' designs and he's a well-established and accomplished engineer having designed for Walther, Caracal, Steyr, Glock, and others. This is also a completely different action type than a 1911 or a Beretta 92 so the energy required to operate efficiently is different.
@@GBGuns I know, when TS9s became popular in Brazil many shooters posted links to BB Tech reviews. Wilhelm Bubits designed a pistol with a tiny ejection port... ok, but I don't want one. There is video of Bubits calling his action "Bubits action". I like the hollow back portion on the slide with an insert with smaller parts, but I don't care for the action. There is a lot of guns with barrels going up and down, they are a little bit boring. I was looking for a grand power with rotating barrel (you reviewed many of them) but the commies ruined shooting sports here and I decided to buy the cheapest good gun available: taurus pt92. I got my g2c on a prize draw, the gun is good, but I didn't want it too. Another gun for our government to steal.
@@GBGuns I paid 60 dollars for 50 9 luger handloads with LEAD bullets and even so I scored 98 of 110 points last week. Look at the barrel after 75 shots with that ammo. Brazil is not a funny place for shooters (and Taurus doesn´t help, they are more interested on selling guns for the government, its CEO was a member of Lula´s party - Lula, our "president", a convicted criminal). ruclips.net/video/_If9GVj4JZU/видео.html
Taurus' website says it is 36 ounces UNLOADED. No matter how cool or special the Boobitz action is, its not worth it. A Glock weighs almost a pound less and works everytime.
So it’s a TH9 with the same ejection port as the kimber mako. Common Taurus, bring back the pt145. 10+1 sub compact 45 acp. Just add a trigger dingus this time so the same issue doesn’t happen again. You have an updated tH9 before you, but without the hammer and decocker. Not impressed.
That's why we stopped buying from GrabaGun. I loved their prices, but they steal magazines from Oregon-bound guns, which they conveniently sell separately.
I am just a poor man from Detroit `carry 3 clips 45 cal S&W Shield at all times. dead sure or dead live in Detroit poor me pour me a drink wheelchair Larry Merry Christmas
Good video but an easy NO on this one. Seems that Taurus stepped back into their old habit of slopping a pistol together. That's too bad because it seemed like they had turned a corner. Plus it's a 9mm, so it's only a plinking round as far as I'm concerned. Other thing, and call me a pedant. It's a big issue for me. Not that it happens often, but I shoot alot and I shoot in adverse conditions in rural Alaska. The one other firearm that I own that has an abbreviated side ejection port has a serious issue with unreliable ejection, like, maybe one out of a thousand. Not only does it seem to occur more frequently because of the small port, the fact that the brass isn't right there blocking my view of the front sight slows down the clearance. Again, if one out of a thousand (or maybe less) is okay with a shooter, then GTG for him or her. Just that it's ever so slightly slower to clear is significant to me. Good video, thanks for dealing with that pistole. Hopefully the workmanship on this one is a one-off and Taurus isn't backsliding.
@JD-tn5lz Once again I disagree since this pistol has been out long before Taurus got new management in the US. Nor is this pistol a Taurus USA made pistol. It is a Taurus Brazilian made pistol. Stop repeating this because its false.

Aqui no Brasil.
Did not like the BB. Heavy trigger, weird grip, etc.
I knew Taurus bought the BB patient years ago, nice to see it in the wild.
I am sure the price is right and might gove it a ( second?) shot.
Doesn't like reloaded ammo
I've had a TS9 since 2021. It's a great weapon, reliable and rarely fails. Here in Brazil it comes with 3 magazines, the owner's manual and the trigger lock works perfectly... It's a shame that the laws that our new government is imposing are partially making it impossible to acquire new weapons in 9mm, which is now considered "restricted". How good it would be if we had a 2nd amendment....
You in the us
I heard your election was rigged
I checked on the Taurus site. They only provide 2 magazines.
I have often wondered if the gun store was stealing one of the CZ magazines from the box 🤔🤔🤔
Grabagun does for Oregon shipping addresses, but at least they tell you. Pay full price and get no mags.... but they also sell mags as a separate item.
The trigger safety is optional
They finally brought to the states. I like this pistol wilhem bubbits all over this pistol. I wrote this before I even watched the video.
I think that safety flips the other way
Was looking for this to come to US, but after seeing this review I don’t want this pistol.
Be sure to read the full review
"Initially exclusively accessible to international military and law enforcement clientele, the Taurus TS9 successfully surpassed the demanding NATO testing protocols. It stands as the preferred pistol for Brazil's most elite special operations units and is in service with law enforcement and military groups globally." - Hook & Barrel Magazine
There won't be many available here in the US anyway. These are over production pistols. I agree after seeing all the features that its not a pistol I would want either. But it is interesting and innovative.
I think someone lifted one of the mags out of the case.
This was never planned for the US. taurus is desperate to sell what it has of these, which leads me to believe once these are sold that will be the end of it. All of this is due to Brazil banning handguns after years of back and forth, which left Taurus in a pickle.
Lula taking the guns, wonder why that is ??
Rather annoyed to find that the price on the Taurus TS9 suddenly dropped over $120 at various online vendors. I purchased mine for $347, but now they're available for $225! Crap!!! Oh well... good for the people who waited.
and they still haven't responded to my email about this gun sent weeks before this video was filmed. Who knows what's going on over there.
Basically a Glock GEN 3 clone with a few different functions
You must have missed the content of the video.
That takedown is wacky
The funky safety is a deal breaker for me. It could be problematic.
It's deactivated on US models. It's an I tuitive design that Bubbits also did for Canik on a non-US model
What's wrong with the ejection port?

Thanks GB. Great job. Good info. God bless.
LETS GO BRANDON
Taurus' website says it is 36 ounces UNLOADED. No matter how cool or special the Boobitz action is, its not worth it. A Glock weighs almost a pound less and works everytime.
It doesn’t weigh that much! It only weighs about 27oz. I thought that too but it’s a misprint!
I purchased a Taurus PT92 and it works great, haven't had no feeding issues or jamming up.
You must have missed the part about the Bubits action. This is a variant of the BB6.
Two tools?, In case you lose one, space for three magazines ? In case you want to buy a Third one.🤔
I'm from Brazil and shoot a TS9 a fell times. Despite TS9 be a better gun, G3 fits my hand better. This safety is broken
You're supposed to get 3 mags call Taurus.....!
I bet money that the store u bought it from took that mag out and tries to sell it seprately
I am a fan of Taurus firearms but I cannot stand a modern handgun that requires tools to disassemble. This will be a no for me.
What tool was needed?
Not at msrp. $400 + no way
Where did you see it that high?
Look like a Taurus Gx2+3+4= TS9 😂
Does nothing for me. Those so-called innovations and or improvements they're just different, and in my opinion kind of oddball ish.
Do you prefer revolvers?
@@GBGuns no not at all.
Manual safeties on polymer pistols get me more triggered than an angry socialist at a Charlie Kirk university speech. I WON'T ALLOW IT!!!😫😭🙇♂️
The fact a manual safety doesn't work out the box should be all u need to know about taurus...quite comical.
It's not supposed to work on the American import version for some reason
The fact it isn't suppose to work and people criticize it because they lack knowledge says more about some of the Taurus critics. Very comical..
The USA model are disabled for certain reasons
@@s.vernon5118exactly the same people who criticize it are the same who don’t really like guns
