- Relive Jrue Holiday's best moments on defense throughout the entire 2021 NBA Playoffs and the 2021 NBA Finals, featuring him going up against some of the best offensive talents in the league: Trae Young, Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Devin Booker, James Harden, and more. You'll flips clips that highlight his best steals and blocks, as well as forced turnovers and misses by the opposing player.
Been saying it for years. Don't focus on blocking shots or stealing the ball. Just take away space. Move your feet and keep your hands up but focus on getting into the operating space of the offensive player. When you do this, blocks and steals happen. If Jrue Holiday isn't considered the best on ball defender in the league (in terms of talent). I would argue that he gets better results than anyone else. Just my opinion.
He has been the best on-ball defender in the league since New Orleans and he was a stopper way back in Philadelphia. Just toiling in obscurity down there. But year, I agree completely. You'll notice that a lot of times the best defenders aren't high stat guys in terms of blocks and steals. You have your Jimmy Butlers who are always up there in steals, and you have folks like Jaden McDaniels who gets 1 steal and 1 block, but 20 stops a game. Just like there are the JJJs and Myles Turners who go after every block to often mixed results versus the Bam Adebayo who doesn't get a ton but is always in the right position on D. To me, the best defenders are like shutdown corners. You won't hear their names a ton, but you'll check the box score and see their 30-point scorer matchup was 5-17 with 5 turnovers and that decided the game.
Finally a "lockdown defense" video that isn't only steals and blocks.
Just an unreal defensive performance. This has to be up there with great defensive displays in the Finals such as Pippen in 1991, Kawhi in 2014, and Iggy in 2015. And it's probably the best defensive display we've seen from a point guard in terms of locking down multiple players.
Iggy lol, still James gave him 35 lol
@@alextalbert8471 bron still averaged 28 on kawhi in 2014 too.... that's not locked up and ima kawhi fan lol
@@NSH_30 I mean trae young still averaged like 30 and Devin booker still averaged like 25 🤷🏽♂️
You can't put defense on all superstars offense. Whether you put some d in them they will do another move. But with some good defense will lower the fg efficiency and more turnover.
@@rafirabbani6241 " you put some d in them" pause
The assignments he had to take on defensively through out the playoffs with players such as Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Chris Paul, Trae Young , and Devin Booker just shows how great of a defender he is. Eventhough he wasn't the primary defender on Durant he more than held his own against him defensively especially down the stretch of game 7.
Jimmy Butler… this man Jrue had to guard all of them, his defensive playoff run is historic in my eyes
Bro.. even the shots booker made. We’re tough. Jrue was right there, he’s so tenacious on defense. How he gets through screens, and stays smothered on the player. It’s just unbelievable
Jrue the modern day Gary Payton
I like how you put the some of the shots that they made - shows that Jrue's insane defensive capability is only matched by elite players making really tough shots after Jrue has done absolutely everything to lock them down
Incredible defense...Holiday is a beast...and a bully.

He's so smart man, you can tell at 1:35 he was bracing himself for that classic Dirk move and was ready to strip the ball the millisecond it got just close enough. It's super analytical of him, I mean that's a few inches of movement and he saw it coming a mile away.
This bucks teams has the most 2 way players ever
Not 2 way players, they have the most defensive players, only few of them have offense
So we're already forgetting kawhi right?
@@rafirabbani6241 he said most not best
Giannis is the best two way player
Good Gah almighty. Jrue fought tooth and nail for this ring. Also, though Book got dommed, it’s impressive to see some of those shots go in the net
What impressive me most about Holiday is how aggressively he plays defense without committing a ton of fouls. He gets clean strips (good hands), uses blocking fouls wisely to stop baskets, and he always takes smart angles on contests so the shooter can't do the cheap high-five and fall down tactic.
Booker got bullied all series by holiday and now has to team up with him, im sure he doesnt feel too good about that, but at the same time is happy he doesnt have to go against him 😂😂😂
suns are getting holiday ???
@@pimpmac4993 no, they play on the USA team together.
bullied? He was scoring like 40 a game lol
@@walkdeep Well yeah he shot the ball 30+ times. He better drop 40.
@@benjaminglodowski9244and that 40 doesn’t account to him scoring on other players other than Jrue
i've learned alot from watching videos of him. I was a good defender , now i feel im great. I can usually lock down players but there was this one guy i couldn't figure out. he was good right or left , he is taller and he can dripple which makes it almost impossible to guard. Little adjustment i did by watching Jrue made him take tougher shots. he still makes them but at a lower % .
man Dbook be making these tough shots…
Your bound to get some “tough shots when that’s all your defender is gonna let you have 😂
Man he's so good at shuffling his feet and going in with his legs
that Bucks vs Nets series was so good
Absolutely phenomenal
Idk why Im now just seeing this in my recommendations, thank you for appreciating defense!!! Jrue beeeeeen that guy all this time, I’m so hype he finally got his recognition. Every bucket scored on him was one of the most difficult shots that can be taken. Shows how much effort the offenses have to do in order to even get a shot off on bro. Sheeeessh
Jrue Holiday is one of the most smartest defenders I've ever seen
You inspire me Jrue ❤️
One astute scholar said it best " Milwaukee we got dawgs" -pj tucker-
now i finally get it. Offence is good but defences win Championships as coach Pop says
Both win championships

Look at that 2nd clip, that's what coaches should be teaching players when they want to get past a screen. Beautiful

He and Wiggins have a hell of defense
Phenomenal video
Good video
Great video
If the fucking season awards were awarded based on playoff performance then jrue would be all nba first team all star starter and probably dpoy of the 2021 season
This is what Pat bev thinks he is
The 2 dislikes are from Devin Booker and Chris Paul
Ridiculous defense.
Blocks+steals+missed shots=Wins
The Bucks found the missing piece of the team, they can win another ring this season with this kind of performance.
What happens when you try to move an immovable object?
Ask Booker
You best not toss a lazy pass when Holliday is on the floor. Before you can register in your brain what happened there's a three the other way. Quick feet and quicker hands.
God bless Jrue man!!! Milwaukee Bucks champions 2021 only with help of God!!! History made only with help of GOD!!! We gonna do it again only with help of God in 2022!!! Praised be Jesus Christ!!!!
He’s so fxcking annoying 🤣🤣 that is INSANSE lateral movement and awareness. I would just give him the ball and just go home . He can average 30 on fast break points alone 💀💀💀
And to think all playoffs long people were talking smack about how bad his playoff game was due to poor shooting in certain games. GTFO

Haha liers can burn
damn it was so annoying to watch a dumb offensive player like trae be bullied all series by jrue, trying to come of screens and shoot those 30 footers all series long, you really shouldn't be shooting those if you can't make at least 35% of them, dude trying too hard to be like curry and he makes so many bad decisions, he really didn't have a chance against jrue, kyrie and harden didn't have one either, just kyrie trying to blow by jrue on every play when he's not strong enough or fast enough to get an easy layup against jrue...at least booker made it entertaining, the others just struggled so badly
