Portmeirion is absolutely stunning, spent some time there about 20 years ago, it's like stepping back in time. It was also used as a location for Dr Who’s Masque of Mandragora in 1976 and The Tripods in 1984. Beautiful place.
I knew about Dr Who but not theTripods! Last night, I watched the very first episode of DANGER MAN from 1960, and Portmeirion was used in that story - so either McGoohan or someone at ITC fell in love withthe place - seven years before The Prisoner was created.
My folks went there on holiday, they loved the place.. looks amazing. Watched a few episodes many years ago but it went over me at the time. Maybe I'll reinvestigate at some point.
