Wow - I trained as a Sushi chef for 3 years but these are some combinations I would have never thought of! Some people think sushi has to follow certain rules but Maki-sushi is meant to be FUN and your recipes are ALWAYS fun! Thank you Josh-sensei!
The CHAMP himself!? wow Josh is in with the heavyweights now!
i much prefer nigiri personally tho
Ever see Mexican sushi? Pinched culichi town pon carne de res xD
Maybe you just sucked at your job
Yeah I know what I said to who I said it too, that's what makes it funny
First the title of uncle Joshua now the title of Joshua-Sensei
Those marinated and fried mushrooms looked so freaking amazing. I'm going to have to make that for plenty of things now lol.
Same
I bet it's amazing with a few more veggies in a stir fry 😋😋
Essentially anything fried or smothered in oil will taste delicious
lol
@@jewel_throne2950 try putting poop in oil 💩🤡
I'd give anything to have a try of the 525$ one, although I'd be obliged to eat only dry bread and leftovers for the next 2 months, cause I'm still a student😂
Who asked?
@@SeymourKitty dude she just wants to give her opinion, isnt what it is about , how about you answer everyone who commented on youtube "Who asked" like grow up
@@SeymourKitty I see people aren't allowed to tell jokes anymore
@@SeymourKitty no one asked for your opinion either
@@ZazzyTunes people aren’t supposed to talk according to people(*kids) like these, the worst type of comeback noone needs (and by worst i mean really trash)
I mean, by Josh's own admission the expensive rolls were only 10 times better than the cheap ones - meaning they should be worth $50, not $500. So it seems clear that you get the better value from the simple dish. Not that I'd turn down the expensive one if offered, of course. Looked damn good.
he did say it was $5 per serving for the cheap one but didnt say "per serving" for the $500 sushi. if you really look at it, i'll probably cost around $50 "per serving"
You mean darn good, make the world a better place.
@@pc-ft9dy The prices were per roll.
@@shanearmstrong9861 only for the cheap sushi were they per roll. The expensive one was not given per serving. Also, in what world do you live where the beef and crab for the roll are 500 bucks for that little
@@theblobfish9614 in a world where it's wagyu A5 beef my dude, have you not seen how they're like, $300 a steak?
I would love to see the cost breakdown. I have a feeling that there were tons of leftover ingredients from the $525 one, so seeing how much it actually costs per serving and how much each ingredient cost would be a nice addition!
hard agree. cooking tutorials always seem to break down the per serving cost when it's for "cheap & at home alternatives", ignoring the full purchase price of all ingredients -
yet any time there's a video using the "cheap vs expensive" format they only show the full purchase price.
The steak alone will cost you over $200
He said the feesh wasabi was $80, King Crab will be around $100 as well
One of the tastiest sushi rolls I have ever had was something a sushi chef threw together on the fly after learning flavors I liked. I can’t remember what exactly was inside it, but I can remember he laid the pieces on their side, topped them with some tuna tossed in sriracha, and laid a slice of lemon so thin you could see through it on top. It was DELICIOUS!!
Hit up your fave sushi joint and say "omakase!" ("I leave it up to you!"), tell the chef what you like and don't like, and you'll get some of the most amazing sushi imaginable.
My brother's favorite sushi concoction is one he calls the "jalapeno popper roll." It consists of thinly sliced teriyaki-marinated sirloin steak strips, seeded and julienned jalapeno peppers, cream cheese, and crisply cooked bacon cut into thin strips. It's absolutely amazing.
Korean bulgogi also makes a great sushi filling, with a wee bit of kimchee for a little crunchy spice.
You guys make me remember and enjoy every single Wednesday and Sunday morning! Love starting my day with a dank cooking vid! Cheers from Canada!
Who says dank in this day and time?
when i talk about dank memes
Bruh I always love your videos. You're funny an makin cookin fun. Appreciate you fam.
love the vids always makes me want to cook and so i did so ty for that
Cheffin' it up as per usual,Frickin' love this channel. You ROCK 🎸 Mr . Weissman. Thanks for showing us your talent and joy while doing these vids.
Your creativity is out of this world!!! Props to u Josh =)
Hey Josh, any thoughts of doing a basics series for people to better understand what goes through your head when it comes to cooking, like spice profiles, plating, when to dive vs mince, etc? I’d love to start to learn
omg you make cooking so entertaining. IDK how i stumbled across your channel but new subbie!!!!! I will be binge watching all night.
This video has made it's way into to my personal list of Top RUclips masterpieces. Mesmerizing, Joshua 🤯
Papa is straight up an inspiration love you ❤️👀😋
I really loved that you added spam. After visiting Hawaii I love the stuff. 😋
The bass in that song for the b roll is going absolutely crazy
@3:58 the increased level of noise for squirting vegetable oil. Picasso, love it.
Amazing video i find these videos very informative funny and interesting im a cook so i get inspiration from your channel thanks ☺️
Imma try this today
Me: Oh boy sushi! The one dish that 9 times out of 10 doesn't have mushrooms in it!
Josh: Now we're gonna get started on the mushroom element
Me: God damn it
For context: I have an allergy to mushrooms lol, it can be frustrating to try to make dishes without them (re: coq au vin or beef bourgeon and such) obviously this is not the case here and I can just replace the mushrooms with like zucchini or something
What happens to you when you eat mushrooms?
If you are not vegetarien i guess you can experiment with chashu or burned ends if you tweek the flavour profil a bit (like he die soy, mirin etc.) and it will be quite similar.
And delicious regardless
@@BentleyBohemian_96 Nothing pretty, no anaphylactic shock or trip to the hospital but my digestive system is a wreck for 2-3 days
@@stiepl28 Now there's an idea!
I can relate. I get extreme stomach pain when I eat them. Obnoxiously, I think they are super tasty too.
I’m trying to build up my kitchen. Could you do a video on essential items for a pantry or spices and the pans and knives you use.
I love your videos! I love these recipes! :) you bring so much joy in the atmosphere of cooking, I think we can all feel your energy in our kitchens.
You’ve made a video on spring rolls, which I love obsessively; would you be able to make the Vietnamese fried rice for us? There’s this place my husband and I love and have been ordering faithfully from for as long as we’ve been together, and I would LOVE to make it for him. The meat in the rice is bits of Asian sausage, chicken and shrimp. Delicious, especially with garlic chili sauce. Either way, love the videos, please keep it up! :D
Stay smiling. Stay beautiful.
Cooking flex at it finest.
good video papa things i'll look for in the many asian markets in NYC to try making sushi lfg!
also the B-roll beats are 🔥 as usual
Perfect timing! Sushi was on my list for dinner this week 😂 well the 5$ version
istg everytime im interested in a certain dish, joshua always somehow reads my mind and does a video on it and i. am. living. 💅💅💅
I think the best roll in this video was the B-roll. Wasn't expecting the beat to slap like it did.
Who was it?
This feels like more closer to the Korean Kimbop then the Japanese sushi.
Yes cuz it is lmao
yup cause he added meat.
Sushi is fish or fish adjacent 99% of the time with the exception of egg rolls, and kappa maki.
ikr
@@Himeyasha not just the meat but the cooked vegetables. I wouldn't really consider kimbop sushi and I wouldn't really consider this sushi. Also mayo dip for sushi is probably the weirdest and least appetizing thing I've seen.
Well, it’s Maki Sushi so... 🤷🏻♀️
I'm pretty new to this channel and found you from your cast iron seasoning video (which helped a whole bunch). Do you have any cast uron recipes here?
Ive been craving sushi all week 🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣Papa does it again
OMG that looks delicious 😋
Oh wow Josh, thanks for letting us enjoy the b roll for free. You’re so amazing 🥲🤌
I live in Vancouver and still haven't gotten around to trying sushi.
Try it best food ever
My friend lives in Vancuover and he wants your skin
not like you live in Japan. That'd be sacrilege.😂
😳
It's nice but nothing to write home about. It got a mention in Blade Runner.
Your cooking shows are the best !😂😂😂
Damn, this transition to B-roll and b-roll itself.
I am amazed. Classy af.
Thanks josh now I’m craving sushi
You’re the inspiration i needed to make my own sushi instead of buying those hefty prices at the market. thanks Josh
I’m liking the aggressive pace of the B roll feed
Now I'm craving sushi again 😋
youre too good at this
Great video!!, love me some sushi!!
Fabulous!
Sushi is special time. 🙌🙌🙌
Whenever Josh releases a Japanese cuisine type video I brace myself for sacrilege. Didn't disappoint this time either.
Ahh I love you videos josh! But you forgot to tell us if that is salt on the tray for 500 dollar sush? I never want to miss a step! ❤️
Milgauss looks really good! got mine earlier this year!
love your videos and just saying you need to make a pot pie thanks and much love
Legendary content as always
ps. When you watch so soon after it drops you have to comment
As an American and ex food writer living in Asia the past decade, great sushi 🍣 starts with the main actor - rice 🍙, lightly tart from vinegar. Great crispy seaweed is the sound mixing in the moviE. Surprisingly, the fish and ingredients play supporting actors and actresses.
You should do a meal prepping series! Foods that are flavorful but also healthy!
Nice video! Going to try this :) new subscriber here! Thank you again for sharing!
Am for sure making these tonight I was gonna make some and oddly you made a video today o.o are we connected some how- like even my gf was freaking out cause the notification came thew and we both just kinda looked at each other and died laughing love your videos!!
Thanks Josh!
The music for this ep was too 🔥
Haven't been able to catch a release of your videos! Always amazing, one thing that I wish you could tackle would be a nice gluten free bread or if possible an all purpose home made gluten free flour "milled at home causes duh..." Would really appreciate it! Much support!!
Makimono refers to all types rolled sushi, and in this case, you should have called them Futomaki.
That watch tho. Much class poppy, much call😘
🍣 🔥 🍱 🍣 🐟
Nice video Josh 👍
Cheers from San Diego California
Hey Josh, I'm not doing so well. Currently, watching your videos is a reprieve from my miserable existence. I recently lost my grandpa, and having lost both my parents already (mid thirties here) I'm just at a loss. I'm broke, living paycheck to paycheck and I'm unable to travel from the east coast back home to the west for the funeral and visit my remaining family. I'm also moving next month which has just put an extra strain on everything else. So thank you for at least bringing me some enjoyment in these trying times.
I don't expect anything, but to anyone willing to help, it would mean the world to get to see my family. It's been almost 7 years. Again, not expecting anything. Hope you all have a blessed day and enjoy the video!
I have a test in a bit but he uploaded so i gotta watch
Very creative! I don't think chive goes the best with sushi rice, but everything else had my mouth watering. Maybe use that chive to garnish some takoyaki
Looks great Josh! Might have to try this recipe, don't know about the $500 version though 😅😅
Lmao the SVJ reference is only for the handful of us who love both expensive food and cars. That's the NA V12 of maki no doubt
Would love to see Josh show up unexpectedly in a fan or friends average kitchen and make a meal out of whatever is in the kitchen. Dare I say a new fun challenge series?
Ellerinize saglik!Harika olmuş👍👍👍💕😋👌
Next time I think you should make a recipe on creme brulee. Great vid btw :)
thank you for being entertaining enough that my attention span doesn’t make me skip through the process🤣 you make the only cooking videos I can actually watch all the way through!!
💯💯💯💯😂🤣😂
I finally tried Kewpie...taste like miracle whip.
I love that veggie maki, reminds me of the rotating veggie rolls at Uchi 😉
you should do a countdown of the meals you would def re-do for your own or friend.
I've never understood why one would take perfection, and try to add more perfection to that. It's like the death-by-a-thousand-chocolates thing. Now you take that lovely crab on one side and the beautiful waggy on the other side and make perfection from each of them and enjoy them for what they are, not what you could possibly add. Like, chocolate maybe?
Nice palm heel strike. Mythical chef josh would be proud.
Thanks man
Bruh im fasting rn and cant stop watching these
That 500 dollars sushi looked tempting!
Also depends where you live, here in venezuela, in my city, some sushi are 7 dollars per serving
Can you do a video about knives and the best ones to purchase?
What I like the most about Josh’s vids is the background music. Never fails us. ✨
Sushi is my favourite treat food. I usually share food but not sushi. Sushi is a food I have no control around and miss the uni time when the Sushi place had discount bags the end of the day. Ate Sushi 3 times week during final year when I didn't have time to cook not healthy but kept me going.
same. it's absurd how little control i have when it comes to sushi lmao
The job I want is to taste everything josh cooks
Josh be "Flexing" those ingredients!😜
Hi Papa! Great video!!! Question! When I fry things panko style, I have always seasoned the flour with salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Am I doing it wrong?
As a youtube premium subscriber, I do in fact pay for B roll.
I wish you did like a Josh + blue/unplugged/after dark/d roll which is just shorts of what you do with leftovers or the group eating all this good food
Again, I’d definitely buy anything Josh makes cause I sure won’t make that expensive sushi but I’d pay for it
yum
YAAAAAAA FINALLY
Joshua Weissman episode of WORTH IT!!!
wow yummy
Shoutout to the editors here. Great, great job.
how does this mans make banger videos like every day
awesome
Worth it
Cara memasaknya keren...
Bersih dan enak dipandang mata.
Is this the new "but costlier" series? 😁Those mushrooms looked mighty tasty though 🤤And I think I would rather try all the ingredients in the expensive one on their own instead of crammed together like that. But having some *actual* wasabi is something I definitely would like to try!
Same. I'm probably only going to have A5 once in my life. I'm definitely not going to put it in sushi.
just call it but bougie 😂
yo go to south africa and cook there cause that would be a great vid i heard sa is very cool
It looks like Gimbab of Korea
i will try it one day thanks 🙏
