    Elijah Craig Small Batch is probably the best quality 25-30ish dollar bourbon. It has an unrivaled rich nose at its price range. Taste wise it is full in flavors but smooth. But not so smooth to make it seem weak. It just seems like a higher cost bourbon at a lower price. Four Roses Small Batch is in the exact same area but a little less smooth which gives a little more of a kick also with a great flavor profile. However For Roses Small Batch lacks in comparison to Elijah Craig Small Batch in the nose. Both of these are my go to bourbons in the 25-30ish dollar price range. My favorite bourbon of all time is the Elijah Craig Barrel Proof but it is in the 80-100$ price range.

    The only keeper I have that you're missing is OGD 114. I usually reach for a Booker's or a Knob Creek Single Barrel, but I also pour a lot of Larceny, and Jefferson's Ocean when I can score one of the cask strength releases. We currently have voyages 10 and 14 on hand. I hear many people say it's just a gimmick, but if so it's a tasty gimmick.

    I've been enjoying the bourbon experience for about 10 years. Was happy to see the majority of my picks in yours as well. The Pikesville, Knob cask strength, Elijah, Russels to name a few. My favorite special occasion, atm, is the 18yo WhistlePig rye. But at $300+ its got to be a very special occasion. I just bought the Peerless small batch bourbon and will be popping the cork this evening. Ive read good things, including your review.

    I'm glad to see y'all have the WT 101 back before the new label change (even though it's a handle). I remember I wanted to provide you guys with a couple fifths of the previous labled 101 but couldn't do it in time before my local source sold the last bottles. Never got my hands on another one since that time. I hope you guys notice a difference in taste between the older 101 and the newer! Personally for me, if the older 101 was still available I'd be drinking that all day long! One other thing to add to your cabinet that's readily available but similar to what you already have: Evan Williams BIB! My second go-to besides 101! Second most cheap bourbon that's the best every day sipper (in my opinion)! ;]

    I'm just starting out and have yet to have an actual cabinet. Right now, I have (and love) open bottles of Evan Williams 1783 and Bottled-in-Bond. I also have a George Dickel Rye, a Bulleit Bourbon and a Bulleit Rye. (The Bulleits are 375 ml bottles that came together in a Frontier whiskey pack.) I'm starting more budget-friendly at the moment so I can build a small collection in fairly short order and so my wife won't completely lose it with me. Some of the bottles you mentioned aren't available here in Idaho, but I look forward to getting my hands on some of the others eventually.

    Damn, we're y'all looking over my shoulder during my last bourbon run to The Party Source? I have so many of your picks on my shelf. I'm loving the fact you have some Jim Beam Distiller's Cut. Larceny, Evan Williams 1783, 1782, Knob Creek Small Batch, Russell's Reserve, Weller 107 Antique, Knob Creek Single Barrel, Old Fitzgerald, Henry McKenna, Elijah Craig.
    I would add Maker's 46 (the only Maker's I can stand), Rabbit Hill Bourbon, Four Roses Small Batch, Baker's and a very dusty bottle of Buffalo Trace I will NOT crack until I can find a replacement.
    Curious about the Belle Meade Cask Strength. Bought some Old Forester's 1920 Prohibition in Covington. NEVER seen Stagg, Jefferson Pritchard Hill, 1792 Full Proof, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, Pogue, or E.H. Taylor.
    And if you had any Town Branch I was going to jump in my car, drive like a demon to your house and burn it down to the ground because that would prove your evil Tethered had taken over.
    Tomorrow I'm going to grab some Booker's. That's above my preset price point, but I just paid off my credit card, so I'm gonna take the plunge.

    Do you keep it in the cabinet also to keep these away from light? A friend said many bottles can get 'damaged' from light sources. Is that true?

    • @ItsBourbonNight
      @ItsBourbonNight  3 года назад +1

      They can, yeah, if in direct sunlight for an extended period of time. Breaking Bourbon did a 2 year experiment with whiskey stored in different conditions. It’s worth a read. Scroll all the way down on their home page and you’ll see it. We don’t really keep our bourbon in this particular cabinet to keep it out of the sun, though none of our bourbon is stored in places that gets direct sunlight either.

    I have the feeling you guys are like me - your blood alcohol level is yes. My 'daily drinkers' are the same usuals you'd expect. My 'sip on special occasions, or on Tuesdays' shelf is more expansive, but I'm more of a drink it instead of collect it guy. Don't know about adding to you daily drinkers or not, but cask strength single barrel Dettling might be something y'all don't get as much up there. Cheers,

    Production suggestion: put a little more light on your front so we can read the black label products. Very hard if not impossible to make out sometimes. Nice run through, kids. Fun to watch.

    I keep Elmer T. Lee handy, Calumet bourbon, a Jefferson's barrel pick by Pa's Fine Wine and Good Spirits, barrel 438...just delicious, but unavailable now like Kaiser Soze. Blantons of course, but another FWGS barrel pick, #209 is just downright Hall of Fame worthy. I have 3 of those thankfully. Many of yours are also my go to's.

    A few of those have either gotten to be impossible to find here and/or are super expensive (e.g. Bardstown, ECBP, Colonel EH Taylor), so unfortunately I couldn’t call them “daily” drinkers. Jealous!

    This is an extremely well done summary of excellent whiskey: Stagg Jr, Weller 12, and Old Forester 1920 are wonderful places to start if you wish to join the wonderful world of Bourbon! - j q t -

      Ohhhh no I didn't agree with starting people on Stagg Jr. and Rare Breed. Don't get me wrong, both of those are INCREDIBLE but people need help getting acclinated to the ethanol when they first start and dialing in on the actual flavor. After they're used to it, I'd work them up to barrel proofs
