    I’ll never understand how people say Blantons is overrated while owning multiple bottles of it! Looks like you love it if you ask me! Cheers 🥃

    • @moguy1973
      @moguy1973 Год назад +2

      I think they mean it's overrated because it's more of a $35-40 bottle instead of the prices it goes for. It's still a great tasting bourbon.

    • @red5standingby419
      @red5standingby419 Год назад +1

      I own a single bottle of it, and it sucks. I've tried pours of it from different places and have yet to have a pour of it that my reaction at best is meh. But anytime I go somewhere that's doing an allocated bottle drop and Blanton's is there, every single person is taking the Blanton's over anything else that is there. And I laugh my ass off every time.
      I'd rather have the bottom shelf offerings from Buffalo Trace than Blanton's. Also, I've had the opportunity to buy it at least 5 times this year (at msrp) and have passed on it every single time.

    • @ayebee4703

      @@red5standingby419 I can totally respect your response. I’m sure a lot of people don’t like the taste of Blantons. I even think it’s fair to say it’s overrated in their personal opinion but when you have a shelf full of Blantons are you calling it overrated because it’s the cool thing to do now or is it because you made a mistake with each one of those purchases. When I’ve purchased something that wasn’t worth it I didn’t continue to buy more of it but that’s just me. I respect everyone’s view on this subject!

    • @red5standingby419

      @@ayebee4703 Yeah I get that. I think different people buy whiskey for different reasons. If you're a drinker like me and what sounds to be like you as well, then you're absolutely correct. You buy a bottle of something, drink it, and decide you don't like it or it's not worth the hype etc and that's it. Other people buy bottles to collect, or hunt certain ones because they think having those is a status symbol etc. And of course you have those that are just the flippers, buy it at msrp and flip it for a profit. I think it's the latter two groups that are buying the multiple bottles even though objectively it's over hyped for what it is. Those two groups are the ones that hype it up because they want to increase their status symbol or profits.

    I agree with most of this list, especially the New Riff SiB. The ones I've had have been underwhelming. As for ETL, I've only had one bottle, a store pick that I bought off the shelf for $39 (before the hype) that was meh and made me never want to buy another one. I have had great bottles of WFE 4yr rye and, I would still buy it if it was $55. But it's almost $70 now and not worth that, IMO. To me 4R SiB BP is overrated. Because of the hype, I've had several bottles, most of which were just ok and one was almost a drain pour. And definitely not worth what they cost these days.

    Agree: Angel's Envy, ETL, Willett
    Disagree: New Riff, great stuff at a great price. This is a great daily drinker, at least the barrels I've gotten.
    I appreciate that you really stuck your neck out for this video. Solid picks overall.

    I will send you my address and you can send me the Weller Single barrel! I will trade you a Hard Truth Schoonover 14 yr! I need that one to finsh my collection. Minus Daniel! Blanton's is ok, but the cheapest I can find it in SEMO is $65. I have a purple top I have not opened and I have never tried it, so I am hoping it is good! I did get a decent price on it though. I have never seen ETL on the shelf and have never tried it. I do like the Weller products, but wouldn't pay some of the secondary prices.

    Please remember, tastebuds are as varied as >51% corn Bourbon can create. Me? I am not a wheat fan. Rye not try a good 100% one❣️

    80% of you list is unobtainable. I have a Blanton's and New Riff SiB just haven't opened them yet. WIllett Rye is $75 and there are so many great Ryes for cheaper. Hopefully one day I'll get a pour of the rest to at least see how they fit my pallet.

    Angels Envy is trash. Too expensive to even be an intro to a finished bourbon..

    This list is mostly unattainable ‘s and if sold at their MSRP would be great. You are ripping the bourbon itself when you should be ripping the greedy secondary market that has caused the over hype. Oh and I disagree on Makers 46.

      @elijahfluw4347 cheap is not in the equation, price is. Do some shopping and price checking, bourbon hunting is kind of fun.. Maybe you've heard of Old Grand Dad 114, maybe not, but here it is 22 bucks a bottle and is often overlooked because it's on the bottom shelf. Price is attainable for most, it's readily available here and best of all, it's rather good.

      If you overpay for a bottle of, say, Blanton's, because of FOMO, you might be very disappointed. You're right, I should've elaborated the comment to consistant price.

    To say that blantons is "overrated" is virtue signaling and lame. I lost interest in the 1st minute.
