@@bring-out Only playing for content is a recipe for underperforming and potentially coming last in the tournament. It makes sense to take some risks though, since playing drawishly will probably lead to a drawish result. 1:35 - Pragg didn't play an obscure move in the opening with you, because you're the one player who plays better with chaos on the board. He knows you play in weird games everyday online. That's why he 'surprised' Vidit with f5, and played technically correct against you. Beating Nakamura at chaos chess was never going to happen. Nakamura wants the mess, and that's why his opponents so far are just playing plain chess with him.

It was 99.2% vs. 99.3% in today’s match between Fabi and Gukesh.

Mr Hikaru, great game. You will win this candidates tournament. You are top 3 player in world. Your prep is there. Just a matter of not being scared to go for it all. Lose or win we will be there, the fans.

Nepo is a beast with white, imagine if he wins this 3 times in a row, crazy achievement. Third time's the charm? Still it's too early for conclusions but he is now the favorite with Gukesh also looking good going into the first rest day.

Interesting that Naka's *that* confident that Prag wouldn't retry the Schliemann again this tournament, that he'd share that he's prepared vs it.

Thx as usual for your opinions and analysis...
Yes, one could get the feeling that you were outmaneuvered in the center, I'm familiar with some nuances regarding the center pawns in double king pawn setups like this but I don't believe anyone has opined the same so it'll be an interesting avenue of investigation.
But it's easy to say that when Pragg responded fxe6 that the game was headed to a draw from there and I think that was cemented when he played Ra8 and you exchanged instead of playing something like Rb1.. Declining the trade that way would have given yourself a very bad Rb1 but whether Pragg left the Ra8 or played Ra2, the interesting question is which rook would be worse and if a White attack on the Kingside could be created, the Rb1 might be redeployed faster than the Black rook could make itself felt.

It's still very early in the tournament. If within a point of the leader(s) at the mid point, it's anyone's tournament. But falling further behind only means that bigger risks have to be played and opponents will take advantage of that.
After this round 4, only Nepo has a 1 1/2 point lead on Hikaru which can be considered acceptable at this point. Nepo is playing practical chess, taking advantage of opportunities as they come and not forcing play.

Smart move in not playing on. It’s better to keep ourself fresh and as time goes on, player fatigue starts to set in, and you will have more chances for sure.

It did look like black had a slight spatial advantage, so it made sense to make a draw. A draw is better than a loss, as we see with Vidit's result against Nepo. I hope that you do play to win as the tournament progresses. It looks like Nepo will win this tournament because of his active play.

Bragg studied you, that's a honor. And I think, he got a boost out of it to not have lost against you.😀 Cheer up, even if it's tough! I wish, you could make a Magnus: Even if it seems hopeless, he wins or he sucks at the beginning, but wins in the end😃

Prag knows where to take risk, Vidit was relying too much on prep so he just took him out of prep and won. Also strength of the opponent matters.

I wouldnt call it a tragedy that Pragg didnt play the variation of round 3 against Nakamura. I would just call it good preparation by team Pragg, to know against whom to play it. So i would say no bad luck involved.

I think that if someone want to try to win the candidates, need to take risks which is something that Hikaru for now has avoids at all costs, which is why it's impossible to win with this mindset.
As a big fan of Naka, he need to step up a bit and start to entering in really complex positions and really challenge his opponent, he's a fantastic player and the mindset to give to much credit to his opponent's moves all the time is letting him miss a lot of chances.
Of course I'm a nobody, but this is really one of the few remaining chances to makes every chess player's dream come true, you can do it Naka
