  • A solution to pieces that are visually light but physically top heavy.
Tall thin wood vessels and candle sticks can be graceful works of turned art. But practically speaking, they can also be a pain in neck. Even with a dedicated display space some objects can be prone to tipping over with the slightest of vibrations. Sometimes a stiff breeze from a nearby window can be enough to knock down a particularly lightweight wood vessel.
Adding a weight to the bottom of any wooden vessel will reduce the likelihood of the vessel tipping over. Could these pieces still be knocked over? Absolutely. But that’s a whole lot better than having them fall over every time somebody walks past the furniture they’re displayed on.

Never thought of adding weight to stability

Thank you! A weight definitely make tall vessels more stable. The only catch (accidental woodturner pun there) is the wood needs to free to move around independently of the weight.

if you gave it a, you should pardon the expression, gently rounded bottom, it would teeter more but return upright like one of those inflatable clowns!

      😁
A self-righting twig pot? Hmmm . . . An interesting idea worthy of consideration. I think I may just do this, if only because I’ve never seen one.
      Thanks for your input.
