  • Hi! Welcome to my channel. I am hair stylist of 20 years. My videos focus on technique and technique only. I find that as a stylist most people struggle with getting their technique together. If you do not have the technique right then you will never make it to the styling. If you are looking for styling options there are tons of video on RUclips!
    Also, after being natural for the bulk of 18 years I'm finally deciding to wear my hair in its natural state more regular. Stay tuned to watch my journey!

    Beautiful!! And I love your patience. Some hair stylists dont have it. Mess around and rip your hair on OUT being frustrated because they have a client with thick hair💁🏽‍♀️. All they have to do is have patience and get it done the first time just like you said. Also, voice over or not you did a good job😁👍🏾

    • @GorgeousStrandsLLC
      @GorgeousStrandsLLC  6 лет назад +21

      It definitely takes tons of patience to work through thick. And if you are not use to thick hair you can easily rip someones hair out. I treat all of my clients hair like its my own!

      Eve, you are correct. If stylists knew how much business they lose (how many customers do NOT return) because of their rushing to get through our thick hair. I have left many stylists that way (I was not pleased with their quick-fast ways).

    I think it would be good to talk about why your technique is what it is. What temperature you use and why. What kind of heat protectant with this kind of hair (liquid vs serum vs cream) etc...that way you just talk about what you’re thinking while you’re doing it and you don’t have to write a script.

      If you doing yourself, is important to see what kind of products you are using. If you have a high porosity hair, always add a protein treatment to your hair follow by a moisturizer conditioner mask. That way your strands not only gets the strength to hold but also the moisture it's needs. Second a good leaving conditioner and serum heat protection.
      The technique drying you hair is so important because in other to sleek and mataining that shine, the hair needs to be blow-dry properly. Your roots needs to be dry very well, then your middle until the ends. People think the flat iron does the work of it's own but that is not correct. If you have a good blow-dry technique, you can achieve a beautiful results for your hair that last longer. The other way to achieve results is with the roller set before iron your hair. But again you need to stretch your hair well to make sure your roots and ends are roll very well in the roller.
      And finally a good hair drops to help maintain your shine and sleek follow by a light humidity resistance hair spray.
      But if you hair is done by a professional, she should know what kind a product she should use to maintain your hair sleek after she done her job. Always ask what products she is using, and ask for humidity resistance product. Tell her you want to preserve your sleek.

    I LOVED this clip ! It was so relaxing and I love your client's hair . My hair used to be that long and thick and I used to HATE it ! I used to watch those shampoo commercials where the woman would fling her hair and watch her hair slowly flow back down in shiny, bouncy curls and I would say, " I wish I was born with THAT kind of hair . That's the kind of hair the wind loves !" It wasn't until I later on, that I realized that NOBODY is born with that kind of hair . Everybody has to put some effort into making their hair look that beautiful . Now my hair is so thin on the left side, when I wear it in a ponytail you can visibly see my scalp peaking through . I'd give just about ANYTHING to make it grow as long and thick as it used to be ! Any tips ? I plan on using the organic rice water method to make it grow, since it's gotten such rave reviews online from folks of all races, but I'm open for suggestions .🤗

    I did all this on my friends daughter and a quarter of the way through I realized that her mom had fried her ends w a horrible perm and I cried. Poor baby girl is mixed and mom just wasn't ready for her hair ... Thank God for my best friend educating me through out my life on black hair. We're now in a huge regrowth process bc I told her what happened to her ends ( 4+ inches of her 16 inch growth!) And she shaved her head. I can't wait to get my baby girl her dream hair! ( If all these years later she still wants it!) I always remind her God blessed black girls with beautiful diverse hair and to be proud of her glory! (She is amazed what my hair will not and can not do!) Definitely black girl magic!

    Thank you thank you thank you for NOT combing out the freshly flat-ironed hair. So many stylist tamper with the hair instead of letting it cool on its own so the straighten doesn’t last as long as it could. Just playing in people’s hair like it’s their first time. You did an amazing job

      Hi! Yes, I have trimmed her ends, at least twice a year, over the last few years! It is a myth, and a bad one, that you have to have your natural hair straightened to trim your ends. Some people never wear their hair straight which is why hair should and can be trimmed in its curly state.

    Regarding using a script, don't. It sounds better when people speak naturally. Maybe you can jot down some points you want to make for each video or respond to questions people have asked. Do that either while filming or just after then when doing the voice over speak naturally as you do now, making sure to hit those points as you go. You also don't have to speak the entire time. In other words, what you're already doing is fine. Don't feel pressured to fill every moment. You already do a great job describing & explaining what we see you doing and why you do it that way..

Have you applied Keratin Treatments to those with hair texture similar to your model and quality of coarseness? Is it better to use Relaxers compared to Keratin products? Is a Keratin Treatment a benefit or hindrance from your professional view? If you have had the chance to apply a Keratin product to a person of colour hair type is it recorded as a video guide? What temp did you flat iron on ? What temp do you recommend, I have hair just like this except a little longer and I want to flat iron but I want to avoid any chance of heat damage even if my results aren’t super straight ?
