Surfing Matters 1989

In the 60's surfing was rarely an activity in which non whites indulged. During the 70's and 80's surfing it started catching on among non whites who had a hard time getting to the best surfing spots because of beach Apartheid coupled with the antagonism of some white surfers who thought Apartheid will never fall - How wrong they were. But non-whites persevered forming a few clubs around the country Namely Natal, the eastern Cape and Western Cape.
This video is 10 minute piece of an early inter-provincial competition which was won by Cass Collier.
