    - The Pennine Blackpool Express;
    - Light and loaded test runs and locomotive movements.
    Thanks to Peter Ainsworth (www.flickr.com...) for the shots of 44871 and 45407 (departing south), 44871 & 45699 from Avenham Park, and 45690 heading for Blackpool.
    Preston railway station is situated on the West Coast Mainline, roughly half way between London Euston and Glasgow Central (marginally closer to the latter). It was opened in 1838, rebuilt in 1880, and subject to electrification in 1974. It is situated in Preston City Centre, close to the River Ribble, Avenham and Miller Parks, Winckley Square, the Park Hotel, Fishergate Bridge, County Hall and St. Walburge's Church.

    Great shots showing off Preston. Brings back memories of when I went to University there, espically that clip of 45231 as I used to live at the student accomodation you filmed it from

    Excellent, brings back memories of my childhood, visiting grandparents in Preston. Sometimes a night train - cheaper fares - from Euston behind a Black Five, usually. Thank you!

    Even when next to modern train, the steam train DOES NOT feel it doesn't belong there. In fact, it feels more "alive" with the breathing steam.

    Awesome video my friend, I vaguely remember seeing Stanier 8F 48151 here when I was 4 or 5 years old in 2012-13, however since I was but a wee lad I could not distinguish the loco from any others.

    A superb collection of shots which seems to happen less and less now since steam rarely goes through Preston nowadays ! Is there a camcorder that you could recommend for someone who is looking to buy? - Joe

    • @Linesider1
      @Linesider1  3 года назад

      Many thanks Joe, much appreciated and yes not that much to film there at present. This was shot on a variety of Sony cameras which I’ve always got on with, I’m not too up on individual models but perhaps worth picking some out on amazon and then looking for review videos on RUclips to assess the quality. Hope this helps, David.

      @@Linesider1 You are right. There are of course impressive German steamlocomotives too. Unfortunately only a very few large Dutch steamlocomotives were preserved in the end of the fifties. (Our NS 3737 looks very British .....!)
