Even their RV fridge had quirks. It had to be level to run well.
Tinkering skills to make work around definitely come in handy.
Get them to pay a fee for the Larry model.

The fridge has settings that will turn it off at certain voltages based on whether you are using the cigarette output vs the wall outlet. You can change this setting. It’s in the owner’s manual.
This is a safety system to prevent your batteries from completely drawing down.
I don’t think there is a problem with the fridge itself unless I missed something. Good luck!

Larry Tom Frye had a good idea. Also try some spray electrical cleaner on both the cooler plug and the electrical cord holes. May as well use it on all your solar connections as well. Give stuff a few minutes to dry before you reconnect them.

    The lighter plugs are crap
You may want to try the Anderson power poll connectors much much better
    15,45 amp interchange
    Work well

On my solar system I try not to run down the storage batteries below 12.4 as at that voltage tends to create excessive heat build up in connections. At night when my system has been charging most of day my battery volts is at 12.7 to 12.8. You must understand that my system is completely separate of vehicles battery. I charge 2 of the largest H8 auto batteries with 2 cheapo eBay flexible solar panels. I don't run a refer. like you do but I do believe I could. Do you run a separate storage battery? That might help to maintain higher volts to help fridge run more efficient. I'm no electrical engineer or wizard I just know what has worked for me. Good luck Larry, really enjoy your content!

Thank you for your feedback. I run two 155 amp/hr AGM deep cycle batteries, a total of 310AMP on the 12v setup. I can run the fridge for about 3 days with this setup prior to charging. I normally recharge every day or top off. It stays around 13.2 and down to 12.3 or 12.2 then it starts to need a recharge to run the fridge. The fridge has a low power shut off to help prevent damage.

@@EminenceFrontX5 If you can run for about 3 days on a "full charge" that sounds about right for battery capacity. Factors like ambient temperature and opening fridge pull a ton of power to compensate. Hope all goes well and will follow your channel to see more!

Most likely the car battery is lowering its output as it draws down. Not all cars put out steady / same output if the battery starts to draw down- some do. The fridge shuts off because the lowered output?

My Dometic works great on the battery but the not on the AC input! I checked with a multimeter and there's definitely mains AC at the end of the cable. I checked the fuse and it was good but replaced it anyway no help. Bloody glad the device works from DC but I'd really like the AC to work too!

I paid $600 for when it first came out...best dometic they made...they discontinued,,, demand was too big, and that kept them from being able to make cheaper ones, less cost to build and then jack up the prices on them to a comoletly unreasonable prices now days.. there way over priced...they were a great company but I would buy anything from them now,, most hsve issues after one year now and fir a cost of over $1000 yea! no thanks.

Larry -- You might be better off with a Yeti Tundra... Some folks claim 5 to 8 days of ice in the Yeti. Certainly not 2 weeks but somewhere in your travels you should be able to grab a bag of ice ... Not as good as the Dometic but better than spending close to a grand for a new fridge !!
