- HELP! - I may have a Camellia problem - In this video I plant my tenth Camellia in my landscape. It is one called Lemon Glow. 10 Camellias might be to many or maybe not enough for my 2/10ths of an acre. Let me know what you think

After watching this, my sister-in-law said "He has 10 and I only have 3. Should I tell him he has a problem, or should I order more?" 🤣🤣🤣
Order more!!! I've only got 4 myself... better go to the nursery today!
Can't never have too many Camellias! LOVE them.
When you said "it came a flood," talking about your pansies I thought of my mother and grandmother saying, "it's coming up a cloud." I love my family's Southern expressions!
My grandmother used to say that, too!❤
Support group meets every Wednesday at noon! 😂
That's funny 🤣
@Tofog22000 - Best comment!
😁😊😋🍀🌿🌱
Meets every Wednesday. At the nursery. In front of the camelia section.😁
When most of the country is buried in snow, camellias are blooming in Florida.
You cannot have too many plants, the only problem is not having enough space to keep them all!
they're so beautiful. hoping someone figures out how to breed Encore Camellias in my lifetime lol
I have a camellia problem too as I keep buying different colors for my home. I have several white, yellow, four different shades of pink, a bicolor of pink and white and then red. I just have always loved them.
My problem is that I’m a new gardener, fell in love with camellias, planted 12 and threw away the tags and have no idea what they are.
Plant more because you 💕them!! 😊
Theres always Camellias Anonymous, but you already have your own 10 step plan!
You can never have too many plants of any kind, especially those that you love ❤️
I can see why you love them! They are gorgeous.
If you love something (that's not harmful) and it makes you happy- you can never have enough. lol. Plant on brother. 💖
We moved from SoCal to Indiana and I so miss my camellias and jasmine 😢. More camellias!!!!
Aww. I know how you feel. We especially miss what we grew up with. Down south I really miss lilacs and truly perennial tulips. Thanks to Jim I've bought my first 'Southern' plants instead..
No problem! Looks great!
Is there such thing as too many? You’ve “encouraged” me to buy a few this year...lol. I have 9 so far this year....went looking today for another one. I enjoy your channel so much...thank you for sharing.
I bought a GORGEOUS Nuccio’s Cameo Japonica at Camellia Forest this past weekend. Planted it in my perfect sun dappled spot in downtown Hillsborough. Blooms were there 2 days before the deer helped themselves. Fencing in place, spray applied. Argggghh.
Heck no, you can never have enough but if you run out of spots, you can always come and plant some in my yard!
Always room for more!!
Never enough!!!! Thank you for the video🤗
Yes. You do have a problem. Thank goodness. You help encourage us with great info and lots of fun. Keep it up. Enjoying gardening is a great problem to have. I purchased 6 camillias this year. I can't wait to see them mature. Thanks for your channel.
You’re good, keep’em comin’
Just discovered Camellias! I have 3 now. They are slow growers, so you have to be patient. You don't have a problem, you have great taste! ❤️
I share this problem, Jim! I have over 10 types of Camellia Japonica.
At the old house I had an acre to plant. This place not so much. Yours must be busting open right now.
@@JimPutnam yes, I over fertilized and have gotten a great year. They’ll bloom through April. My neighbor’s professor Sargent started blooming in October and will bloom through April. That plant was on steroids this year.
@@JimPutnam Do Japonicas typically bloom in very late winter / early spring? My new japonicas (ave maria) held on to their buds through the snow, but they still haven't quite cracked open
Beautiful. Not enough! I think you need more. Gorgeous!
Apparently, I don’t have enough! I’m inspired to plant more. Thanks
Ummm....can one ever have too many....I think not !!!! Moved to a new property back in September. First thing I did was buy camellias!!!!
I’m developing a camellia problem, thanks to you.
Me, too. Best problem I ever had.
wow that’s a beautiful camellia! beautiful plant! i think if you have the space for it, the more the merrier ! 😍
In any case, I love your videos they are fun to watch and informative as well.
Hi Jim never too many I'm just starting out with 2 in my yard . Can't wait to get more ! I'm Not too far from you down here in Rock Hill SC . Love all your videos.
As someone who bought 2 more today I would say the more the merrier!
You can never have too many camellias. :) My grandmother has many varieties that she planted over the last 40 years. That is one reason we have several varieties at our place!
The only problem is you don’t have enough camillas! Beautiful!!
I kinda agree with you!!
Never too many Camellias, my namesake! Gorgeous plants and you have such interesting varieties!
Can’t grow them in my zone so just say you’re taking care of mine for me and plant away.
Looks like there's room for more! :) We have 12 and I'm definitely looking to plant more in the future. Can't have too many!
I agree too! Can't have too many... Beautiful!
I’m growing 7 different ones along my back fence. Thanks for the good ideas for other areas to plant them!
Oh wow. That probably looks great!
I say whatever works and you love GO FOR IT!!
I have five ,just love them💐🌺🥀🌹🌷
They are hard to beat!!
Holly is so cute she stays so close to you, she makes me want to go get a dog. Your front garden looks so beautiful, I hope we get to see it when as plants begin to bloom.
Now for camellias, if you really love them, plant as many as you can, enjoy every moment of nurturing them. You'll then reap the reward of their gorgeous flowers.
Picking up our first three camellias from the Oakland Cemetery sale this weekend! Great video and perfect timing.
Me too!!! So excited to add to my collection❤
That's awesome
No such thing as a Camellia problem. I love them they're beautiful. 💜🏵️
Love them, I get you....I have one though that has only produced one flower in five years, I've tried everything .....I do love the yellow one Jim ☺️ another great, interesting vlog
Camellias bring us beauty when everything thing else is dormant. Never too many!
Finally you got the one camellia type that I actually have. I love yellow glow!!!
Camillias are gorgeous! I had 2 that ended up with a fungus and had to pull them out of my flowerbed. I will try again in my backyard.
I wish I had “too many” camellias! Thank you for your wonderful videos.
I've lived in the south since 1996 and am just now beginning to plant camellias. The downside is the slow growth, but the flowers and timing can't be beat. Concerning planting more, I say go for it!
That camellia is beautiful. I have camellia envy. I can't grow them here. I do however have a plant problem so I can relate.
They are beautiful!! Is never enough
I’m not been lucky enough for them to survive
Definitely not a problem!!!! I have 7, all that bloom at different times. There's just too much to love about camellias. They come in every flower size and color, foliage color and size, growth habit and more. What is there not to love!
There's no such thing as too many camellias! This new addition is beautiful (well, all camellias are beautiful)!
Never too many🥰
You need more!!!!!!
i planted 5 camellia late last summer here in Oklahoma. That arctic blast we had really burned a couple. Hopefully they recover. Alabama Beauty really took a hit.
I just purchased a lemon glow camellia! I love camellias and I’m up to 15! 💚 Never too many
Never too many! :)
I would love to have this problem! Great progress on your garden!
It is slowly coming together. This spring and summer should really bring it around
If it's what you love go for it! I started my landscape journey last year. My passion is Japanese maples, I started with 2 in June and am up to 15 now! Many more to come I'm sure. I have a few Camillas and want to add at least 2 more. We'll see where my journey takes me
My pansies are really disappointing this year too. I bought cheap ones last fall, I thought maybe that was the problem, but maybe it is because of all the rain? My winter kale and viola look great, but those are in containers. Maybe the extra drainage has helped? My pansies have never been this sad in March. I had not thought about blaming the endless rain, Hmmm. My crocuses are better than ever, and daffodils and tulips are poking their heads up, so their are still things to look forward to.
I wouldn’t consider it a bad problem to have! I only have 3 camellias but I suffer from a terrible rhododendron problem! We all have our crosses to bear.
Never enough 🥰
Thanks for a great video. Sadly, I only have four camellias and three are exactly the same variety. You have inspired me to purchase more!
Love ❤️ them
My grandfather loved camellias. He had over 100 of them. They grew well for him in Portsmouth, VA.
Not a bad problem to have. I always plant in drifts of one so I can enjoy more variety in my small garden. When there are so many varieties of a great genus it is difficult not to collect a few. I consider myself more a plant collector then gardener. Maybe I have a problem.
I am definitely 💯 percent plant collector.
Variety is the best. Save some space for newer versions of Camellias for the future. I am more of a Satsuki Azalea fan, but I still have space in my garden to add 1-3 new or rare Japanese azaleas. Your instructional and insightful videos are the best.
Thanks for following along!!
Hi Jim Camilla are flowering evergreens… more the merrier. I have only two in my yard. Only a year old & they look amazing. They are Spring blooming Japonicas.
My opinion is you could never have too much of something you love go for it Jim!
Wait what!!! Another channel!?! Well gotta go check that out!!
I probably have too many- but a really pretty driveway. I grow certain variegated leaf camellias in pots so if it’s too cold they go in the garage.
Since there are a lot of camellia lovers here, what about an episode about camellia societies?
They are all beautiful. Get more. Lol.
well considering I have 14 camellias currently on a similar sized lot, 2 more that are being planted soon, and *checks notes* 42 on my list to buy eventually...I would say you don't yet have any sort of issue.
You can lead the support group 🤣
I planted three April Dawn camellias late last summer from Camellia Forrest. They’re supposed to be one of the cold hardier ones. Cannot wait to see them bloom. They’re supposed to have any variegation of white and pink or solid white or pink all on the same plant.
Oh just go for an even dozen. 🤣 I want one but I don’t think they would get enough sunlight with all the Pecan trees in my yard. Love them though!
Never enough!
You can never have too many camellias! 👍😊💗
I only have 1 Camelia...zone 6b. I have it indoors because when I received it from my supplier, it was in winter so I couldn't sow it into the ground.
Plant them to your hearts content . Hey Holly.
Since they are so beautiful more wouldn't hurt😆.
Those Camellias are going to look beautiful. I think some Autumn Twist azaleas would look great along the front foundation when you complete the porch remodel.
There's no way you have a problem, because Camellias are absolutely stunning. Especially, the established Japonica. OMG The wait for their bloom season is well worth it.
Oh how pretty
I love the ShiShi variety
Nice
You will be inundated by the illicium Florida sunshine...mine got huge and I took it way back....
Jim...that is a good problem. They’re awesome. Let ‘er rip!👍🏾😁
I agree really 😊
I have Crimson and Clover and October Magic orchid and ten Yuletide. Your problem may be contagious. 😃
this year only I have bought 30 camellias lol they are so beautiful, no fuss plant and low maintenance .
and Im still not done yet.
I have a camellia problem too but mine suffered in the freezing weather here in OK. They dont look good hoping they bounce back. I have about 12 planted as a screen. Only about 1 to 2 yrs old. The only 2 that still look good are the Christmas Carol versions.
Not enough, wish we had more shaded space on our property. Would like to see some variegated camellia make an appearance at your new home!
You can never have too many camellias, Jim. You should get a Camellia sinensis--the white flowers are smaller and less showy than sasanquas and japonicas, but it has lovely seed pods at this time of year and it blooms in late summer--so a different seasonality to it. I grow them in 7A, so they will do well for you there.
Never too many.
No... you dont have a problem your just planting for me too, since I cant really grow them here in zone 5/6. I probably could try on my southside of the house bc I have huge Four O clocks that comeback everyear over there somehow, but there's very limited space for a shrub. Edit: plus I've never seen anywhere around here sell them
I vote more cameillas! 👍🏼💖🤣
Yes u have a camellia problem! I had one camellia..it was covered in buss..about 5-6 feet tall..and a pine tree fell on it!!!
I love camellias. I'm located in 7B, but I've never seen them sold in the nurseries here. I don't think you could have too many as long as they love where they are being planted.
