Coming to this video 4 years later. I very much appreciate the info on these lovely Camellias. Thank you so much for putting this together. ❤ The positive aspect for me is the bloom time. Japanese beetles will not be a problem.

I use to love peonies but the more I read it appeared they were just too fussy and u reliable for my liking. I planted camellias in NC in clay soil after researching what would be best there(as I’m originally from Florida) and they performed so well growing to six feet or more in 4 years and beautiful! They thrived there! I planted Yuletide as I wanted blooms around Christmas and they never disappointed! I did move back to Florida and was under the impression that camellias did not do well because my mother had one which would not bloom. I’ve since learned about the sasanqua which is more sun loving and will go with them.

@@thenorthcarolinian6796 .........and they both work with Prove Winners. Not Southern Living Plant Collection. So they would not be featured on this channel. I also follow both of those ladies. And yes, they are pretty great.

    very interesting
    I have a question:
I have two sasanqua camelia's since two years
They make long branches but only one or two blooms at the end of every branch
    Do you have an explination?
They are planted between my camalia japonica in a shade area.
    zone 8 (Belgium)
    Town garden
    Should I prune them ?
    Thank you for ansewing

I have an Camellia that has brown tips and little white spots on the leaves. I want to change the soil because it has been in the same soil and pot for years. But someone told me that I should first fix the problem (brown tip and white spots) before replacing the soil. What do you recommend?

About to transplant my ~15 y/o Camellia. There are two sprouts growing from a root close to the main trunk, which I would like to split out. Should I just go for it, cut them apart from the root and plant them? If not, what would you suggest? Also from the Raleigh, NC area.

Hi, Do camellia hedges need support like trellis or post if i want it to grow upto 2.5m high? I am planing to plant and start camellia hedges in my property but there is one long and thick line of exsisting hedge between mine & my neighbors'. The hedge's theirs. Can it be growing well? Sun and position and all that are just fine enough.
