Coming to this video 4 years later. I very much appreciate the info on these lovely Camellias. Thank you so much for putting this together. ❤ The positive aspect for me is the bloom time. Japanese beetles will not be a problem.
I use to love peonies but the more I read it appeared they were just too fussy and u reliable for my liking. I planted camellias in NC in clay soil after researching what would be best there(as I’m originally from Florida) and they performed so well growing to six feet or more in 4 years and beautiful! They thrived there! I planted Yuletide as I wanted blooms around Christmas and they never disappointed! I did move back to Florida and was under the impression that camellias did not do well because my mother had one which would not bloom. I’ve since learned about the sasanqua which is more sun loving and will go with them.
@@thenorthcarolinian6796 .........and they both work with Prove Winners. Not Southern Living Plant Collection. So they would not be featured on this channel. I also follow both of those ladies. And yes, they are pretty great.
You and Jim have a wealth of knowledge and I love 💕 you both, I have learned so much from you both!!!!!!! I am so glad that you collaborate in the garden, great 👍 job!!!!!!!
very interesting I have a question: I have two sasanqua camelia's since two years They make long branches but only one or two blooms at the end of every branch Do you have an explination? They are planted between my camalia japonica in a shade area. zone 8 (Belgium) Town garden Should I prune them ? Thank you for ansewing
I have an Camellia that has brown tips and little white spots on the leaves. I want to change the soil because it has been in the same soil and pot for years. But someone told me that I should first fix the problem (brown tip and white spots) before replacing the soil. What do you recommend?
Hello From the Uk I have a Narcissflora camellia I’ve just bought it I’ve heard sometimes the buds don’t bloom they are lots of buds on the plant so if they don’t bloom what should I do ?
About to transplant my ~15 y/o Camellia. There are two sprouts growing from a root close to the main trunk, which I would like to split out. Should I just go for it, cut them apart from the root and plant them? If not, what would you suggest? Also from the Raleigh, NC area.
hate to say this but all videos from everywhere including just searching of information; no one says LEVEL of MOISTURE in the METER. Absolutely No one!!! so frustrating...and! disappointing. Anyone can help!!?? Pliz
Hi, Do camellia hedges need support like trellis or post if i want it to grow upto 2.5m high? I am planing to plant and start camellia hedges in my property but there is one long and thick line of exsisting hedge between mine & my neighbors'. The hedge's theirs. Can it be growing well? Sun and position and all that are just fine enough.

They're both pretty awesome, aren't they!
They're great, but Laura (Garden Answer) and Jenny (Creekside Garden) are the BEST.

Dang really want to plant camillia trees in my front yard but there's 0 shade. I live in zone 8 of Alabama. I've seen the japonica on several lawns.
LOVE the peony cages! Are they available online?
Hi Jim. I live in South Carolina and my camellia has flowered once in 10 years. It produces buds all the time never flower/blooms.
Love this!
🙌 so glad!
Would the October Ruby do ok with most shade in the cooler months but more sun in the summer?
Great info. Happy to see my subscribed channels together.
Can they tolerate both full Sun and also a shaded area in Tuscaloosa, AL? Replanting my foundation shrubs.
Ms. Linda also has a facebook page
very interesting

Do you think Camellia can plant the same area with Endless Summer hydrangea?

They are beautiful but not cold tolerance.
I’ve noticed no one ever gets an answer on this channel! Just pushing Southern Living plants.
