Skyrim on the go with mods. Fallout 3 or NV on the go with mods, borderlands 2 on the go (much better than vita at least) ect. Just put a ipega controller on this and you have a very cheap gpd win.
Plastic quality could be better. Sprayed shiny painting look is kind of cheap, would prefer textured (bit bumpy) pure black plastic, more rugged, more comfortable in hands, and less of a fingerprint smudge magnet too.
Keng Yuan Chang and if you carry this pc anywhere and everywhere (what i definitely would do), there would be lesser chance of it sliding off from your hands and being damaged from hitting the ground.
IceSanta GPD is a good company to invest in :). I’m planning to purchase all their line ups, but tons of price gougers i got the Android 1st version good for emulation on the go. Saving for their Win series and their mini netbooks
I don't know how powerful this is but you can probably pack an ipega controller and use it for gaming (Bluetooth controllers that attach onto the sides of your device). That's what people did with the original GPD Pocket PC, which had around the same specs as the GPD Win.
They're doing what successful Kickstarted companies should do more often. We already went through the "leap of faith" stage with their previous products. Now they're taking that capital they made from us and capitalizing on it with new products in a timely fashion That's how you build consumer trust and solidify your place in the market as a real competitor

They're only doing crowdfunding to gain more popularity internationally. You can find their products on Amazon, Aliexpress etc...
Depending on what kind of professional you are. IT guys like System Administrators or Network Engineers may not need GUI to work, just typing in text terminal consoles all day long.

Have you looked at any of the One Netbook Yoga products? Similar to GPD Win series with a pen. I just grabbed the Yoga 2S, and despite some flaws it is still pretty neat to have a tiny pen enabled 2-in-1. Will be making a video on it soon. :) Not sure I like the style on this GPD but I guess it's not geared towards me. I think it would look better with matte plastic rather than shiny.
This reminds me alot of the Fujitsu U series UMPCs from over 10 years ago. (Do a search for U1010 and U820.) They could learn a bit more from those, where the screen could turn around and be a tablet, while the nub and mouse buttons are accessible from both sides. This model looks like they are wasting so much on a mouse pad and not really controlling air flow super well. Overall looks like a big step backwards from the UMPCs from 2007.
That's pretty cool looking, but i personally think not including touch screen is a mistake and i hope they add it before release. I almost always use the touch screen on my win2. And though a touch pad is great, there's just so much stuff that's touchscreen friendly these days.
I don't think the touch screen is practical if you're using it for server maintenance or other engineer stuffs especially for people who wanna install Linux on it.
maybe. but i only have a win2 and it really does make simple stuff like web browsing and file navigation much easier. I set the folder view to "Content" mode, it's like detailed mode, but larger and easier for use with a touch screen.
And for the non-professionals buying this? i don't think many people would buy this for actual use in a professional work place. probably why the build numbers will be pretty small. If this were 10 years ago, it'd be perfect for the robotics and micro-controller scene, since a handheld PC with a hardware serial port would have been amazing. either way, whether it'd get used by some of the users, so it should have been added, it's not particularly expensive to add either. It's one of those, "have it and not use it" over "want it and not have it." kind of deals. If i were to buy one of these, IE if i was still into DIY robotics, the touch screen would be a deal maker/breaker for me.
I've been using a second-hand GPD Win for this use: mobile network/device testing, and other Windows functions. The main limitations are the slow speed and single USB port - I rely on dongles. I plan on purchasing the MicroPC to replace the Win Edit: something I'll miss about the Win is the gamepad controls. The default mouse-mode is terrible, but with JoyToKey and AutoHotKey, it's highly useable
I think these GPD's are cool af, I have a few ideas that might make the GPD even cool-er a squared off but thicc design, keep the ports! a keyboard but it also has touch sensitivity so you can use it as a trackpad as well, taking the whole bottom of the GPD, that'd be cool i wish i had enough disposable income to buy this so i could bring my dream of owning an ultra small novelty notebook to fruition

I just got used to using my old Macbook Air with a USB-to-Serial adapter to program switches, routers, PDUs, UPS, etc. It's thin and light enough to fit in my laptop bag along with my regular work Lenovo Thinkpad.
I think this is the most useful Windows PC, it is so easy to work everywhere, and when you go to work/ presentations/home just connect HDMI or VGA to the screen also keyboard and mouse.
Did you talk about the buttons surrounding the middle Mouse button on the top left? I am pretty sure they are left and right click buttons. If they are, that would obfuscate the problem of the mouse moving when trying to click because you wouldn't be nudging the touchpad around when pressing a separate button. Also usful when dragging files
Neat. Hope that a Linux distro is going to support the touchpad on this device. Win10 is nice and all but for this device I would want to use Alpine linux or something similar.
Netbooks are back. and this is good! PS: please increase windows scaling and use tablet mode in the next video. PSS: use hotkeys more often. Many actions are easier to do with the keyboard than with the touchpad.

Kevin Bhasi It could easily be modded to add a touch screen, depending on how custom it is. Only downside is you might have to cut the trackpad, and the wires might have issues with the pre-drilled holes designed for only video export. If you can’t find it, make it!
I doubt touch screen could be useful in windows for a screen of that size. I know part of the interface is prepared for that, but the programs and many settings not. It would be a very awkward experience.
i doubt it, smart phones and tablets are used and will still be used, even some technicians in the field i've worked with in the field had a flip phone and a newer ipad, and i work for a Major ISP in the US.
Does the GPD MicroPC have a vertical screen on its side, or is it a horizontal screen now? And if it's a real horizontal monitor, is it possible to mod a GPD Win 2 so it uses that monitor instead? I don't care about the touch screen on the Win 2, and the "vertical" screen causes compatibility issues.

Because whenever I run Linux (mint XFCE) on it, and rotate the screen 90 degrees it make this awful screen tearing on the left side, and while running Windows some old games fullscreen sideways, and need to run them in windowed mode to "fix" it. These aren't serious issues, but if I can avoid them, it would be better.
I like it. Looks pretty good. I just hope that they have a version of it with 8gb of ram and a touch screen. Only real disappointments is that the keyboard is not backlit and that it don't comes with a 10,000mah battery.

What about replacing the whole keyboard with a haptic feedback touchpad similar to the steam controller. But the whole touchpad lights up with a keyboard, and few other light up configurations like wasd keys.
Or instead of wasd keys, you slip on a membrane keyboard with full sized wasd keys, and if you play a game like League of Legends you can get the hot keys from that game slipped over. then you can use the mouse with your thumb like normal on a larger touchpad, or you can use a c stick that goes on top of touchpad as well.

Could you do some battery tests eventually? See how far you can make it last with the Windows battery settings set to longest life, and maybe turn the screen off/keep the system on when you close the lid. I wonder how viable these things (and maybe the GPD Win/GPD Pocket) would be for a pseudo phone replacement if you hooked it up to a hotspot or aircard.

I think for Proffessionals would be a tiny scroll wheel a nice option. With the Touchpad is it a pain to scroll...
Use the arrow keys like an adult.
A trackball or a trackpoint would be nice for mouse manipulation instead of a touchpad.

The screen reports as 720x1280, so it appears as portrait on my preproduction.

What about replacing the whole keyboard with a haptic feedback touchpad similar to the steam controller.
But the whole touchpad lights up with a keyboard, and few other light up configurations like wasd keys.
Or instead of wasd keys, you slip on a membrane keyboard with full sized wasd keys, and if you play a game like League of Legends you can get the hot keys from that game slipped over.
then you can use the mouse with your thumb like normal on a larger touchpad, or you can use a c stick that goes on top of touchpad as well.

But seriously, that's the only thing that jumped out to me. But, it's a good bit thinner than I anticipated for looking like a platform to reuse some parts from the original Win. Also good to see them continuing their tradition of shoving in as many expansion/connectivity ports as humanely possible.
Could you do some battery tests eventually? See how far you can make it last with the Windows battery settings set to longest life, and maybe turn the screen off/keep the system on when you close the lid. I wonder how viable these things (and maybe the GPD Win/GPD Pocket) would be for a pseudo phone replacement if you hooked it up to a hotspot or aircard.
