I was up doing 70 miles of NH from Hanover to Franconia Notch in late June. Those mountains are no joke. They are as humbling as they are beautiful. Stay safe and reach out when you do Connecticut. Happy to bring you trail magic if I am around.
Hi, Renée. I just got into Vermont today. I took some time off to let my plantar fasciitis calm down. It's still painful, but manageable with stretching and massage. I hope that your calf muscle heals quickly. Dehydration can wreak havoc on muscles. I tore both of my calf muscles after a few days of constant dehydration on the Long Trail two years ago. Drink like your hike depends on it, because it does. Take care and God bless!
I understand that it must be frustrating - but congratulate yourself on what an incredible job you have done - and the will and resilience you have shown. I don't know what tomorrow will bring for you on this hike - but what you have done so far is amazing.
I am so sad to see you struggling. It has been incredibly tough weather wise, that definitely must affect morale. Injuries not only affect your morale, but also your body. You are strong and wise. You have overcome! So many obstacles. You have been an inspiration to me that I could consider doing this as well. I want to offer you encouragement even if that means the best thing for you is to rest. I miss your videos. I’ve been watching since Feb. I hope you are doing what’s best for you.
When you get done with this hike, I want you to come back and listen to yourself in this video. It's all just fear-based dialog that acts like a brake on your forward momentum. Once you get fed up with always being scared and fearful, you will make a pact with yourself to never be the weakest one again. A pact where you make a contract with yourself to quit being scared of everything, take off the parking brake, and launch forward into any endeavor as the strong one in the group. This is one of the lessons the trail is trying to reveal . . . the application is left to you. Katahdin is such a great symbol of transition that you can use for this. When I got to that sign, I broke down and cried harder than I can ever remember. I offloaded all that crap I had been carrying, and much of the parts of me that were holding me back. It symbolized that even with all these personal foibles, I still made it. There was no reason to carry them any longer. That mountain is littered with thousands of hikers' old versions of themselves. Stay strong, let go of all the fear you keep leaning on. Move forward!!! You got this!!! 🤘🕓
I’m sorry to hear about your injury. If it helps, I had a hernia begin on Greylock and it became super painful and my wife and I had to call it quits on Mt. Washington. Hopefully some Motrin some rest and maybe a muscle relaxer and you can be back on trail quickly!
You've been doing a great job!! Through all the different conditions you're rocking the trail!! I hope your injury isn't too serious and you're back to hiking pretty quick!
Your doing amazing, just one step at a time. Your doing it Lady, keep up the faith you've got this hands down 👍👍👍, hope everything goes well at emergency room.
I bet it is so hard to keep the spirit as tough the trail is right now. I hope you find what you need to get where you are happy about how badass and tough and inspiring and giving you have been on your journey. Thinkin bout ya.
I thought that was Lonesome Lake Hut. When I did the Whites, we walked from hut to hut and stayed each night to sleep indoors. I know most through hikers don’t have the luxury of doing that. I found that the distance between the huts is about all I could manage. Of course, I didn’t have trail legs as we drove up from our home in NJ. I know you’ll be able to do it.
The AT down to the hut and then out to the Notch is definitely a serious pain in the knees. Welcome to the Whites. Hope you were able continue on and finally get the break in the weather last week. Seems like it's never going to stop raining here in the Whites.
You are doing an amazing job! I hope you are able to continue hiking with your muscle pull. Maybe some ibuprofen would help. We are cheering you on from lower Sussex County, Delaware!! 🎉
It must be discouraging to have that much pain right now. You have really rocked it so far no mater waht happens next. Sending you positive healing thougths
That section isn’t an easy one. Trust that things will be better tomorrow. We will continue to keep you in our prayers. FYI - I believe the ridge you identified as the Presidentials is actually Franconia Ridge - the next section on the AT. Not as hard as what you just did until you start going down from Mt Lafayette.
Oh geeze so sorry to hear that you have that pain when you walk! 😢. Hopefully they can give you some meds that will help you. 🙏 you have come so far so be proud of yourself. Sending you a hug and a prayer! 💪 🙏
I'm sorry you've pulled a muscle in your leg. Praying that the Lord continue to be wiith you, to help you, to keep you safe, to lessen any paiin you may be in, & continue toomake a way for you to summit Mt. Katadin.

Lonesome Lake is lovely in the winter. You can walk across the lake!
I am so sorry you are injured. It must be frustrating being so close to the finish. I hope you can get some help up there.

People do quit near the end. Sometimes injuries, sometimes their time ran out. It’s easy to quit in Maine because you are just worn out.
Those are hard miles you are doing. NSAIDS and rest and you will do this! How much rest??
You continue to inspire!
No if and or butts, you will be at K.👍
Hope the injury is not too bad. Take care.
God bless you, poor thing with you’re hurt butt cheek 😢and I know you want to keep pushing. 💔😘❤️

Buckle up, Maine is more brutal and the rain hasvnever stopped this summer.
It will be okay. Even if you have to stop, you can go back. 😊
...a month ago? Hope it's back to normal by now. Positive thoughts for whatever you are facing today 💙
Thinking about you....
More rain in maine
I hope you got a steroid shot and were able to keep up with your tramily. 😢❤
