I did the same thing on my rear brakes. Put both the wear indicators on one side. I got to jack the car up again and pull the other side apart again to do it right. Yay me. Neighbors probably thought I had lost my mind with all the swearing.
Only thing id recommend ontop of your video. Make sure to grease the slide pins, grease where the brake pad tabs hit the hardware clip and the back of pad. And change the hardware while your in there, 90% of pads come with new hardware
About to do my pads and rotors. Been lazy before and gone to brakesplus but too damn expensive. I would mention making sure your brake fluid reservoir isn't too full, especially if you ground the pads and rotors down to nothing. Because if its too full it may overflow when you push in the pistons.
To be honest I was used to the style of calipers that don't have brakets and come off as a whole. Recently working on a Dodge Charger with the bracket style, I realized what you say here and now recognize the different types and work accordingly. But it's better that I showed them this way in case they are replacing or removing the rotor.
Yeah they're warped, time to replace. And when you say the wheel can move left to right, I assume you mean with it up in the air that it has play that should not be there? You have to be more descriptive so I can understand what exactly you're describing. But most likely tie rods/ball joints worn, or wheel bearing if it's making any weird noises while driving. It could be other things as well, but I would have to have the car in front of me to diagnose...
@@BuckeyeBallistics yeah, I can move it left to right when jacked up and the side from the wiggling when breaking, it sometimes makes a cracking or popping noise when accelerating
For the lug nuts? Which service manual!?!? 133 is extremely tight for aluminum alloy wheels, and just extemely tight for a car period. Even 4x4 trucks usually aren't that high. Everything I just read on google says 100lbs, and even Discount Tire's torque chart on their website says 100lbs for the Grand Prix, so...
+Big Kev Not sure which one I used in this video, as I have multiple C clamps, but the palm of my hand is about 4 1/4 inches wide if the helps you guestemate the size of the clamp.
Just wanted to stop by and say thanks. Your videos for front and back brakes and rotors helped me change all mine out, very informative and helpful
Thanks and glad to help Russell. Thank you for choosing my video as I know there are others.
Informative straight to the point also good enough quality to see detail and understand everything great video👍 keep it up!

Lol
Thanks a bunch for this video
My pleasure
Thank you very much for this excellent video. Your a life savor
Glad to help, thanks for watching.
Very informative video. Makes me feel like I can actually do this shit myself... thanks!
Glad to help

Another tip is get some shoestring or metal twine and just tie it up to the suspension
Disconnecting the caliper from the bracket makes the job 1000 times easier.
Especially if you don’t change the rotors, you can just remove the 2 caliper bolts, they are easier to access, and much looser bolts.

Same car. My rotors are wobbly a lil. Is that normal?
The new rotors or the old rotors? No rotors should wobble. That's called "warped" rotors.
@@BuckeyeBallistics the old ones. Because when I’m slowing down the car vibrates a lil.
Also my wheel can move from left to right?

My service manual says 133 ft-lbs for the mounting bolts, dont want them to come loose with vibrations!

@@BuckeyeBallistics No, for the caliper mounting bolts where it attaches to the knuckle. I know, that is very tight. From the Haynes service manual.
Seb Oeltjen I torqued the caliper brackets on my car to 133 as well
is that a 9'' c clamp or a 6'' ?

Not difficult at all and you save hundreds of dollars by doing it yourself.
Yup
Looks like ya killed your cv boot.
Yeah the axles were replaced shortly after this video...
