    Thanks Alex. Yes, it would be interesting to see the painting kit - always useful to see how other folk work out on a journal ramble.

      Surething, I need to do some plein air filming for my upcoming Inktense course, so it'd be easy enough to show the outdoor kit then 😃

    You are such an excellent instructor, Alex. I'm just getting into nature journalling (shout out to your Wild Wonder workshop), and you make the process both more exciting and less intimidating for a newbie. Thank you! (Annie Maier, actually)

    Aloha Alex, Just stopping by to say "MAHALO" for inspiring me to get out in Nature with my "Art Bag" and camera. I use to enjoy going out in the field with my mp3 player. But, since the pandemic, I had just stayed indoors which had seemed like an eternity. However, I found the solace and gratitude in doing so because it was a blessing to hone in on my practice to evolve as a better Artist. LOVE your videos. It's refreshing like hanging out with a good friend. Be well, be safe, and keep sharing with us. Aloha, W.
    P.S.- Would enjoy a video of you sharing what tools you take for your other adventures!

      You're welcome and really happy to hear you you enjoy my videos 🙂 Hope you will be able to venture out again soon - it is well worth being outside and creating to see the inspiration all around. So good for our mental and physical health too.

    I am relieved to See you aproqch jour sketching/out door Journaling in a similar fashion as i do.
    When i am outside i mostly write down what i experience and only later when i am inside i try to make sketches/final detailed drawings from pictures i took.
    Drawing outside is sometimes uncomfortabel (positioning and all, i already have a bad posture xD)
    But i know some people that will say: you have to draw while beeing outside and draw what you actually see so you learn to observe but for me it is easier this way.
    I am not an artist at all, and thats why i am happy to see your approach, it takes away the fear of perfection and is just more doable.
    I cant Take all my stuff with me and try doing great Art.
    I also enjoy Junk journaling.
    Dried petals, seeds, bark, the wing of an insect, all kind of textures and interesting things can be put in without the need of beeing able to draw

      That's cool, my next nature journaling project is going to be based on junk journaling (but with drawings too) and I can't wait to start it, but have a whole load of other things to finish first 😅 I certainly advocate for doing some work outdoors, but outdoors is not conducive to the type of artwork I do (high detail coloured pencil usually) so that just has to be done in the studio. The balance is important, and perfection is impossible 😊 Have a wonderful time with your journaling 😊

      @@AlexBoonArt exactly.
      For me it is writing and sketching outdoors and drawing detailed pictures in my desk. There are so many other awareness based activities you can do instead, or rather in addition, to drawing.
      I really like to try watercolours though i never really did anything with them beside doing background colours.
      I am really excited for your project!
      Will devinetly stick around on your channel :)
      PS: sorry for the typos, my autocorrect doesn't like english haha

    Great video, and the piano music goes with the joyful theme perfectly! I like how you packed something vegan for lunch (I've been vegan since 1992). 😊Thanks for sharing the U.S. links to your favorite products/art supplies; I'm hoping for a 4th of July sale for a new camera. And yes, it would be cool to see how you use a plein air kit! Thanks for sharing.💚

      Thank you 😊 Aww that's great, I have tried being full-time vegan but I just got too tired and listless, it didn't suit my outdoorsy lifestyle with my metabolism. So I just do my best instead. I'll add the plein air kit video to my list - it'll be easy to do alongside filming my Derwent Inktense course I am planning 😁

      @@AlexBoonArt Cool! I know being vegan isn't right for everyone (esp. guys), so I appreciate you trying. A good trail mix (nuts, dried fruit, chocolate chips) can keep your energy up on long hikes. Looking forward to your future videos and courses!

      @@AlexBoonArt Just curious, did you use your Midori notebook already and do you like it? Do you use only color pencils ? It is not suitable for aquarel paint, is it?

    • @AlexBoonArt
      @AlexBoonArt  Год назад

      I have been using Midori notebooks for years. I did my 2019-2021 nature journaling in one with coloured pencils, and have been using them outdoors a long time (onto my 4th book now I think!) Yes, I wouldn't use them for paint - for that I recommend Khadi paper 🙂

    Where did you get the cover protector for your nature journal? It's such a good idea. I also recognise the fox sticker from Carrie Rogers. It's interesting to see what you carry with you. A shoulder bag looks more accessible as far as getting things out quick but the rucksack would be a lot more comfortable.
    I saw a buzzard a couple of nights ago with an animal in its talons. I was driving at the time so couldn't look for long but it looked like it had a fairy thick tail that was dangling down. One for the nature journal at least :)

    • @AlexBoonArt
      @AlexBoonArt  Год назад +2

      Ah that's a really good point! I didn't think of adding the cover. I'll add it on to the links in the description and on my website. It is a cover by Midori designed for the A5 books. It's particularly great as you can just switch out the journals when you finish them. I wonder maybe the buzzard had a squirrel? Buzzards like to scavenge and that would be pretty easy roadkill.

      Yep. To be fair, there's usually barely anybody on the stretches of beach I go to and I can see it from the water 😁
