this video is the real reason I want people to get into painting model kits. Because that expression you get at the end... priceless. Nothing feels better than seeing the end result of all your hard work. It's been amazing to see your journey and I can't wait where you will go next.
Word! It feels really really good to have put in all the patience. Some days you just don't feel like building/painting/whatever and it gets dreadful. But it's for those moments that pulling through makes it so much more worth it. Thanks for your support, I appreciate it a lot :)
The smile/giggle during final assembly is the most accurate depiction I've seen yet . You're not alone . I giggle like a child when it's time to "finish" my gunpla projects
Recently started getting into Gunpla building, and came across your channel. I wanna say thanks, your videos tend to be not only interesting and fun to watch, but informative as well. I really like how you go through every step, and explain what you're doing, and what tips/tricks help, not to mention the changes you would of done/will do in the future. Anyways, big fan here, and look forward to watching more of your videos.
I'm going into my second year of gunpla customizing. Everything you said rings true. This is great work you did, and an excellent video. I watched it from beginning to end. Your narration made it better. Most people just throw on a track and build.
I'm honestly a big fan of the transformation of this kit, but that's because I'm a huge unicorn fan 😅 they did the whole thing just like how the ova did it so I find it really fun doing it myself
@@GiantRobolove I just don't touch it when I'm finished to be honest I have it collapsed when I'm doing poses and when I have the pose finished, I pull it out and take pictures
Great video, the monochrome color scheme looks so good on your MG Unicorn. For cleaning up enamel panel liner or enamel paints, Zippo Lighter Fluid is a great alternative to enamel thinner. Cleans it up just as well and it's much more mild than enamel thinner. Hope to see more build videos!
I didn't know it was milder than the enamel thinner. I always thought people use it because it's a better bang for the buck 😅 thanks for the hint, I will try it some time!
My solution for doing silver, chrome, or candy (since it's all layers) is to lay a light coat of Mr. Finishing Gloss Black 1500 then a heavy coat to bring the gloss out, before laying doing Gaia Notes metallic, or the Spatz Sticks, gloss black and mirror chrome combination is fantastic. Hope that helps! Great build!
@@GiantRobolove I need to clarify, rather than using the Mr. Finishing (I grabbed the wrong bottle) I use the GaiaNotes Surfacer Evo as my base (GS-03) when using their metallics. Diluted 1:2 with their thinner. Sorry for the misstatement.
Your work is inspirational and the amount of research you did helps out alot I am also going to paint and panel line for the first time hopefully it goes as well as it did for you. Much love and respect.
Hey, thanks a lot for those kind words. It makes me happy, when people can learn something from the videos. All the best with your first paint job :) Which kit are you going to paint?
@@GiantRobolove Amazing work bro I truly appreciate the hard work and time you put in all your videos I always learn something new from them and Im going to be painting A Mg freedom gundam
Good luck with the Freedom. Back then I had the choice between the MG Freedom or MG Destiny...I went for the Destiny. Now I really want a Freedom as well. MGEX Strike Freedom would be nice, but it's sold out everywhere lol
Gunpla really is a really fun hobby, just the pure joy you get when you slowly build it up to its fullest. I just got into it a few months ago, and thee content you make are insanely underrated! Hey, welcome to the world of Gunpla! Words like yours make all the effort worthwhile. I'm happy my content can be an inspiration for people :) What was your first kit that you got?
@@GiantRobolove It was the high grade Infinite Justice Gundam, it was alot of fun to build and has got me hooked to Gunpla! After assemby, I was really proud and I'm planning to buy more. I currently have 4 including the infinite justice Gundam.
omg I can believe the ka. unicorn can be so TIGHT like that. My FA unicorn is loose in everything, the body, the gallting, the beam rifle,... and also, I break the front armor waist, so hard to find a replace now, BTW your work inspire so much
There are a lot of loose parts, I just didn't show them in the video. The shield attachment for instance ALWAYS falls off when I move the kit around. It's ridiculous lol. For some parts, especially joints, you can always use a good layer of Top Coat. Most of the time it helps making the joints stiffer. And thank you for watching :)
Yeah, agreed. They have so many things going for them. I like how they also dry very fast. Have you tried their clear colors yet? That's something I would want to do in the future. Thanks for watching :)
@@GiantRobolove yea! I mix all my paints at about 1:1.5 leveling thinner and that's usually the sweet spot for me and my setup. It may differ depending on your needle size or airbrush. I use a badger krome with a .3 size needle as my workhorse and I've never had any problems 20+ kits in:)
Thanks for the info. So it's the same ratio that I also use for the regular paints, nice. Just yesterday I ordered some clear colors. Already excited to try them out :) Dang, 20 kits...where can I check them out?
@GiantRobolove i wanted the MGEX STRIKE FREEDOM but sadly, its not available in my country, so I end up buying the MG F91, RG WING ZERO and RG ASTRAY GOLD FRAME. But I STILL SADLY WANT the MGEX STRIKE FREEDOM :(
Hi! Love your work. Looking to take the leap into airbrushing but a bit lost on thinners, primers, etc. What primer color do you use? Do you have a recommended brand for color?
Concur. Alclad metallic paints are the best. They do not need thinning. The main downside is that they smell a lot and you definitely need to use a mask and spray in a very well ventilated area (or a good spray booth). Excellent work on the Unicorn!
I've seen it so many times on Barbatos Rex's videos, but I've not been able to get my hands on the Alclad chrome yet. I'll continue hunting it down. Thanks for the hint!
@@GiantRobolove, there are several Alclad metal paints, all very good. Dull aluminum is excellent. Also there is a black microfiller primer that is perfect asca base. The clear coats (gloss and matt) are also the best available (but in my experience are tough to clean them perfectly from the airbrush….).
Yeah, that's where I got it. However his results are so much better than mine. I wonder what I did wrong. He is using low pressure with his airbrush, maybe that was the point. Sadly, I can't regulate pressure with my airbrush.
I avoid tedium by swapping to different kits to keep from getting bogged down. Snapping some hg kits together every once in a while tricks my brain into thinking i finished something.
