My father just moved to this M&P 9 Shield EZ as his daily carry to replace a Beretta that he has carried for years. It is everything that it is described to be. He is in his late 70's, suffers from arthritis, and is beginning to develop weakness in his hands. He can function, shoot, and maintain this EZ without issue, unlike the Beretta that was becoming difficult for him to handle. Thanks S&W for providing a product to keep a long term CCW holder in the game a while longer.
What I like about this review is he just says "It's a nice gun, it's easy, fun and shoots well." So many other tough-guy reviews end up apologizing for liking a "beginner" gun.
I bought one of these a month ago. My daughter in law has the 380 which I loved but I have plenty of 9mm ammo and didn't want to shell out a bunch of money for 380 ammo. My wrists are getting a bit weaker due to my age. I was jealous because she had the ez and there were no 9mm models. Then I accidently found that S&W finally made 9mm. I managed to snag the tan colored model. I love it. Way to go S&W !

Ahhh.. nope. Not really a good idea for serious use like duty use. Nice big opening on the sides where shit can get in and jam that spring. For ccw and home defense, sure. Duty use, nope. You don't want this in a duty gun.
@@M9A1MAN The only way something is getting in there is if you dont dont do the proper PMCS on your weapon regularly. I see zero issue with using this weapon on duty.
I’ve just bought myself one and I love it. Even if you don’t have a hard time racking your gun, it’s nice to have one that’s easy to rack. My wife and kids can shoot it no problem. Very little effort to reload. It’s not too small, not too big and a great looking and functioning gun. Smith and Wesson has outdone themselves and hit a market that has been missed, in my opinion. Very nice gun.

I bought this gun in a panic due to the world I needed a firearm, so I went with one I knew I could fire and had no idea it was an "EZ" model. There aren't many firearms here in Florida they're mainly bought up. Once I received the weapon, I realized there is barely any support for it. I wanted to mount a light/laser combo with it. Holsters are hard enough to get for the weapon let alone a light bearing holster. I wanted an Alien gear holster, but there aren't any light bearing holsters for this gun at least. I'd have to use a standard holster with no options for the cooler holsters. So now that I actively do research daily, I'm getting a better weapon now that my concealed carry license has been approved and on the way. So I'm going to get a Glock 19 MOS Gen 5. But those are not in stock anywhere. So I'm stuck with this weapon. Which is a fantastic weapon and I love it. There's just no support for it for people who want to customize so beware. Also, I am a veteran and don't have issues with grip so don't feel bad buying this model. I could care less what or how people feel about my muscle bound ass pulling this out lol. Please make a light bearing holster please!

Got my daughter the 380 version for Christmas. She love it!! I shot it as well and love it! Bought the 380 and it wasn’t a few days later they came out with the 9mm lol . I’m sure the 9 is awesome like the 380. We shot about 300 rounds in 380 version and worked flawlessly!
My great granddaughter is little and thin, but can load and rack this baby just fine. She liked the 380EZ, but I made her wait. Finally the 9 came out, so I bought one right away. She loves it! Although she's so small it looks big on her hip.
I was suggested a Bersa thunder years back cause I cannot rack the slide on most guns. As a small female, this was a struggle. The bersa was still difficult and I cant put past 2 bullets in the mag. I just recently bought the 380 EZ shield, and it is fantastic!! No problems racking slide or loading bullets. Love the feel for my small hands. I love it so much I bought the 9mm EZ yesterday. So excited to try it out!!

An loading it is a breeze an trigger is great an smooth shooting, minimal recoil for me on 9ez,I truly think I've found my favorite gun,an now smith has came out with the 9mm equalizer, three double stack magazines with a loader,about same size,it is with an without (ts)either one version is great but I prefer extra safety.
I've fought my share of battles cancer to heart surgeries and it really changed what I'm capable of doing and because of all this i chose the shield ez as my main carry pistol and I love it
This is my wife's carry piece. So, naturally, I was the one who ended up cleaning it (along with MY PPS M2) after we got back from shooting! Lol! And while I won't be trading my Walther for one any time soon, I *will* say that Smith hit a home run with the EZ! It is EXACTLY the gun they advertised it as-- no unpleasant surprises, and everything on it truly is "easy"-- including field stripping...

I wish you would have shown how easy it would rack if the slide was forward and a 8 round magazine was inserted and slide was pulled back to load the first round. The best test for how hard or EZ the slide racks. Great video.

I got this one a couple days ago and I love it. I got the one with the tritium sights. Although I have no health/physical problems, I just really like it. The gun store I goto has an indoor shooting range where you can rent out guns and see what you like. I tested all the shields and hands down the ez is the best for me. Although I love my ol reliable Beretta 92fs. She's kinda a big girl and I can't conceal carry very well. This m&p ez is a perfect CC for me. My one and only complaint, it's not about the gun, I can't find comically long stick magazines with a higher capacity.

I just purchased one on Monday and I am going to pick it up soon...I'm excited to own a Smith & Wesson again It's been a long time since I've owned one it was a 357 revolver back in 1992
I was at gun store mid-May with several 9mm on counter trying them out. I picked up the M&P and that was it. I have neuromuscular disorder and arthritis so I was really worried about finding a gun I could handle. I haven't fired it yet, but I'm am itching to get to the range.

I bought the .380 EZ about 1 1/2 years ago and absolutely love shooting it. I feel the need to sell my M&P Shield 9mm and purchase this 9mm EZ. There is no reason to shoot a pistol that have big recoil or is hard to shoot, when Smith&Wesson is producing pistols that make it extremely fun to shoot. Way to go S&W you hit this one out of the park.

I went to my local gun store today to buy a .380EZ, and the young man behind the counter told me they just got in the 9mm EZ. Well, one look, a couple of racks, checked it out, SOLD!! I’m 74 years old and have arthritis in my hands, but this was, like it reads, EZ. Highly recommended!!
I'm a former Employee of S&W. Of course I'm Biased. But knew one day I'd get old and have physical problems which came true. I just turned 65 years old a few days ago. Own a lot of S&W Handguns. Why not! As an Employee, I could buy them at cost! Now I'm old. More Surgeries than I can name on here. And more Handguns in my Safe than I can shoot. BTW: They ALL look, shoot and are clean and Shiney as the day I received them. Thank you S&W for making my Wife the.380 EZ and myself, This EZ 9mm. Just what we needed! I love this gun. I shot a friend's and seen how all these features they done is nice.. I'm not weak or have any problems to own one I just like how it shoots and when I took to ccw class we were qualify for shooting and it was very nice. Even if your grip,arthritis or weak gripping is a factor I recommend this. Even if your not any above ailments is still recommended to have.
It’s also reasonably priced. I paid $440 at Rural King Guns, and that included $28 tax, $12 shipping to my local store where transfer paperwork is free...

a girl at work bought this gun, she is brand new to shooting and we took it out yesterday for it's 1st run. Multiple times when she was shooting the gun, the slide would stay back and lock with the chamber open. I couldn't replicate the issue and neither could the safety officer at the range. What is she doing wrong? Could it be a grip issue? Is there a way she could be hitting the slide lock? I'm not sure how this could happen. Ideas?

I have the 9mm for about 4 yrs now. I shot around 1500 rnds and still going strong. And i also.found out that it will cycle cci shotshells for snakes n stuff. I dont know if there is any other auto that will feed em without jamming. Love mine.
Why can't all magazines work like this? I have to use a loading tool for all my magazines. I just tried this pistol at my local range & was impressed. Nice trigger, good sights & ergos & very accurate. One ragged hole at 7 yards.

Just bought one but waiting for it to clear. New law wait period 10 days. Had a Ruger 9 mm revolver but trigger was so hard to pull. Diabetes has made my hand weaker with all the pin pokes everyday. Shot the 380 ez but as soon as I heard about 9mm I jumped. Thanks S&W for me being able to shoot again with a 9mm. Nice review.

One of the reviews mentioned that the Grip Safety disables the firing pin block when engaged and that and the fact that it is a hammer fired gun gives it its good trigger. Whether this is true I do not know.

I just got one last week! In FDE color. I can’t wait to take it out on the range. I love alien gear holsters. I have the shape shift 4.0 for my Taurus G2C and it’s the most comfortable and reliable holsters I have and love. I’m hoping that they will have the Shape shift 4.0 soon for the EZ 9. Soon as it’s drops I’m getting one for my EZ lol.
I love the new smith and Wesson equalizer 9mm,it's almost like the ez but comes with three magizines,10,13 an 15,with or with ts,with grip safety, is red dot ready too,magazines are double stack.

Have a question: Since shooting cost is always a concern, I am curious if you or others have fired any steel cased ammo through the S&W M&P9 Shield EZ 9mm and if so, how did the gun perform? I don't want to debate about the merits of brass and steel but just want to know how the gun performs with steel because I have seen reviews about fire arms that malfunction with steel cased ammo. I carry an EZ. I'm healthy as a horse no strength of hand issues! I grew up on a 1911 platform with grip and thumb safeties and the EZ replicates these. This pistol won't pull ur pants down when you carry it. I know people don't like the grip safety and 8 round magazine, I get it. I am fine with both. I am a whole lot more confident carrying this appendix with it cocked and locked. I don't feel under gunned with 9 rounds and a spare magazine, as with most civilian use of handguns (home invasion, armed robbery, car jacking few rounds are fired (3 rounds, in 3 seconds, at 5 feet - per USCCA). YMMV

Other than not having a higher capacity magazine option (for now) why would you not get this over the other Shields? Yeah a little bigger and heavier but can load faster, easier racking which could help in a variety of scenarios or just be faster, lower recoil, and now have an accessory rail too.
It's a popular choice for all those reasons. But some firearms just feel right and others just feel wrong to the individual handling them, maybe that is related. Thank you for watching! As a female shooter this is the best gun for a new female shooter. I don’t recommend just dropping the ammo in, I have had them get stuck. The hand grip safety with the little side safety I feel that it’s safe for me, just an extra protection.

My first firearm about 6 weeks ago unless you count a pellet rifle 20 + years back. I love it and bought another Smith 38 special J frame a few weeks later. SA is the cat`s meow.

Did you clean and oil the gun before this demo ? The reason I ask is that yours seems extremely smooth and fast to rack the slide as mine out of the box is stiff and not as smooth as yours. Also when your slide is locked back you are able to hit the side release and easily unlock the slide. Again mine out of the box is almost impossible to release with my thumb as I have to pull the slide back then hit the release. Was there some adjustment made here. I would appreciate your comments on these issues, thanks.

My .380 EZ regularly 'stovepiped' empty casings when the mag is emptied I bought mine due to arthritis .... and my trigger finger joints continued to swell up. I have a S&W shield that has a larger finger guard configuration .... so I went back to the Shield.... Why would a manufacturer touting a gun for arthritic fingers, etc. put on such a small finger guard ??????? If youre interested in the 380EZ be SURE there's some trigger guard clearance if you have arthritis.

Im a larger guy and i love this gun. It works well and it does what it claims to do. Macho guys think a .44 is a good choice in a daily.

Look on ebay, they have all kinds of well made holsters for the ez. I brought 2 . Under $30 each, kydex.
Got my daughter the 380 version for Christmas. She love it!! I shot it as well and love it! Bought the 380 and it wasn’t a few days later they came out with the 9mm lol . I’m sure the 9 is awesome like the 380. We shot about 300 rounds in 380 version and worked flawlessly!

Alright!My sister just got one.Her first gun also.I guess it's off to the range for you gals.
My great granddaughter is little and thin, but can load and rack this baby just fine. She liked the 380EZ, but I made her wait. Finally the 9 came out, so I bought one right away. She loves it! Although she's so small it looks big on her hip.

I was suggested a Bersa thunder years back cause I cannot rack the slide on most guns. As a small female, this was a struggle. The bersa was still difficult and I cant put past 2 bullets in the mag. I just recently bought the 380 EZ shield, and it is fantastic!! No problems racking slide or loading bullets. Love the feel for my small hands. I love it so much I bought the 9mm EZ yesterday. So excited to try it out!!

Kool,I think I'm going to get my sister a 380 ez,she likes the weight of my 9mm ez,but she's afraid of the recoil, so I told her when we back to the range after Christmas to try the 380 before buying an she what she thinks
An loading it is a breeze an trigger is great an smooth shooting, minimal recoil for me on 9ez,I truly think I've found my favorite gun,an now smith has came out with the 9mm equalizer, three double stack magazines with a loader,about same size,it is with an without (ts)either one version is great but I prefer extra safety.
I've fought my share of battles cancer to heart surgeries and it really changed what I'm capable of doing and because of all this i chose the shield ez as my main carry pistol and I love it
This is my wife's carry piece. So, naturally, I was the one who ended up cleaning it (along with MY PPS M2) after we got back from shooting! Lol!
And while I won't be trading my Walther for one any time soon, I *will* say that Smith hit a home run with the EZ!
It is EXACTLY the gun they advertised it as-- no unpleasant surprises, and everything on it truly is "easy"-- including field stripping...

I wish you would have shown how easy it would rack if the slide was forward and a 8 round magazine was inserted and slide was pulled back to load the first round. The best test for how hard or EZ the slide racks. Great video.

I got this one a couple days ago and I love it. I got the one with the tritium sights. Although I have no health/physical problems, I just really like it. The gun store I goto has an indoor shooting range where you can rent out guns and see what you like. I tested all the shields and hands down the ez is the best for me. Although I love my ol reliable Beretta 92fs. She's kinda a big girl and I can't conceal carry very well. This m&p ez is a perfect CC for me.
My one and only complaint, it's not about the gun, I can't find comically long stick magazines with a higher capacity.

When it comes to pistols I'll only buy Smith and Wesson and Ruger they fit my hand better than others
I was at gun store mid-May with several 9mm on counter trying them out. I picked up the M&P and that was it. I have neuromuscular disorder and arthritis so I was really worried about finding a gun I could handle. I haven't fired it yet, but I'm am itching to get to the range.
Hopefully it is working for you. It is a great gun! And we tell people all the time to do exactly what you did, handle the gun for yourself to see how it feels and see if it fits you. Have fun and be safe!

I bought the .380 EZ about 1 1/2 years ago and absolutely love shooting it. I feel the need to sell my M&P Shield 9mm and purchase this 9mm EZ. There is no reason to shoot a pistol that have big recoil or is hard to shoot, when Smith&Wesson is producing pistols that make it extremely fun to shoot. Way to go S&W you hit this one out of the park.

I'm a former Employee of S&W. Of course I'm Biased. But knew one day I'd get old and have physical problems which came true. I just turned 65 years old a few days ago. Own a lot of S&W Handguns. Why not! As an Employee, I could buy them at cost! Now I'm old. More Surgeries than I can name on here. And more Handguns in my Safe than I can shoot. BTW: They ALL look, shoot and are clean and Shiney as the day I received them. Thank you S&W for making my Wife the.380 EZ and myself, This EZ 9mm. Just what we needed! I love this gun. I shot a friend's and seen how all these features they done is nice.. I'm not weak or have any problems to own one I just like how it shoots and when I took to ccw class we were qualify for shooting and it was very nice. Even if your grip,arthritis or weak gripping is a factor I recommend this. Even if your not any above ailments is still recommended to have.
It’s also reasonably priced. I paid $440 at Rural King Guns, and that included $28 tax, $12 shipping to my local store where transfer paperwork is free...

I just bought this but I got the black and gold with a green laser added. I haven’t fired it yet but I can’t wait!!! a girl at work bought this gun, she is brand new to shooting and we took it out yesterday for it's 1st run. Multiple times when she was shooting the gun, the slide would stay back and lock with the chamber open. I couldn't replicate the issue and neither could the safety officer at the range. What is she doing wrong? Could it be a grip issue? Is there a way she could be hitting the slide lock? I'm not sure how this could happen. Ideas?

Yea, but just tuck the corners in with correct sequence and it works. Tuck the left side where you think it does not go first.

Which one has the least amount of recoil? The 380 ez or the 9 mm ez? I absolutely love my 380 ez and would love the 9mm ez but worry about the recoil
The 380 version has less recoil.
380 had less but the 9mm is very manageable in the EZ
You can't have too many handguns right? Training is maybe the most important thing with learning to deal with recoil for you EDC. Have fun and stay safe!

I have the 9mm for about 4 yrs now. I shot around 1500 rnds and still going strong. And i also.found out that it will cycle cci shotshells for snakes n stuff. I dont know if there is any other auto that will feed em without jamming. Love mine.
Why can't all magazines work like this? I have to use a loading tool for all my magazines. I just tried this pistol at my local range & was impressed. Nice trigger, good sights & ergos & very accurate. One ragged hole at 7 yards.

Just bought one but waiting for it to clear. New law wait period 10 days. Had a Ruger 9 mm revolver but trigger was so hard to pull. Diabetes has made my hand weaker with all the pin pokes everyday. Shot the 380 ez but as soon as I heard about 9mm I jumped. Thanks S&W for me being able to shoot again with a 9mm. Nice review.

One of the reviews mentioned that the Grip Safety disables the firing pin block when engaged and that and the fact that it is a hammer fired gun gives it its good trigger. Whether this is true I do not know.

I just got one last week! In FDE color. I can’t wait to take it out on the range. I love alien gear holsters. I have the shape shift 4.0 for my Taurus G2C and it’s the most comfortable and reliable holsters I have and love. I’m hoping that they will have the Shape shift 4.0 soon for the EZ 9. Soon as it’s drops I’m getting one for my EZ lol.
I love the new smith and Wesson equalizer 9mm,it's almost like the ez but comes with three magizines,10,13 an 15,with or with ts,with grip safety, is red dot ready too,magazines are double stack.

Have a question: Since shooting cost is always a concern, I am curious if you or others have fired any steel cased ammo through the S&W M&P9 Shield EZ 9mm and if so, how did the gun perform? I don't want to debate about the merits of brass and steel but just want to know how the gun performs with steel because I have seen reviews about fire arms that malfunction with steel cased ammo. What is the difference in the recoil from the 380 ez and the 9mm ez?? I’m conflicted on which to get.
I carry an EZ. I'm healthy as a horse no strength of hand issues! I grew up on a 1911 platform with grip and thumb safeties and the EZ replicates these. This pistol won't pull ur pants down when you carry it. I know people don't like the grip safety and 8 round magazine, I get it. I am fine with both. I am a whole lot more confident carrying this appendix with it cocked and locked. I don't feel under gunned with 9 rounds and a spare magazine, as with most civilian use of handguns (home invasion, armed robbery, car jacking few rounds are fired (3 rounds, in 3 seconds, at 5 feet - per USCCA). YMMV

Other than not having a higher capacity magazine option (for now) why would you not get this over the other Shields? Yeah a little bigger and heavier but can load faster, easier racking which could help in a variety of scenarios or just be faster, lower recoil, and now have an accessory rail too.
It's a popular choice for all those reasons. But some firearms just feel right and others just feel wrong to the individual handling them, maybe that is related.

Mine jammed first time at range. I took it home and cleaned and oiled it. Never jammed again
As a female shooter this is the best gun for a new female shooter. I don’t recommend just dropping the ammo in, I have had them get stuck. The hand grip safety with the little side safety I feel that it’s safe for me, just an extra protection.

What kind of ear protection is he wearing? I need something for my ears when shooting
My first firearm about 6 weeks ago unless you count a pellet rifle 20 + years back. I love it and bought another Smith 38 special J frame a few weeks later. SA is the cat`s meow.
We think it's more the dogs bark, but either way it's a great firearm.

Did you clean and oil the gun before this demo ? The reason I ask is that yours seems extremely smooth and fast to rack the slide as mine out of the box is stiff and not as smooth as yours. Also when your slide is locked back you are able to hit the side release and easily unlock the slide. Again mine out of the box is almost impossible to release with my thumb as I have to pull the slide back then hit the release. Was there some adjustment made here. I would appreciate your comments on these issues, thanks.
A lot of people in the office got to handle this gun before being shot, so that could contribute it to being easier to slide.....along with Nate being the strongest man on the planet.

Gee, at about the 10:16 minute mark he says it has a "TEXTTILE" loaded chamber indicator, not TACTILE. Wow! How handy is that? You can wipe it on your clothes! Seriously, love this gun!

My .380 EZ regularly 'stovepiped' empty casings when the mag is emptied
I bought mine due to arthritis .... and my trigger finger joints continued to swell up. I have a S&W shield that has a larger finger guard configuration .... so I went back to the Shield....
Why would a manufacturer touting a gun for arthritic fingers, etc. put on such a small finger guard ??????? If youre interested in the 380EZ be SURE there's some trigger guard clearance if you have arthritis.

Can an M&P 9MM 16 Round magazine be used in the EZ ?
I love my Sig P365 but after I broke my wrist a few months ago I can barely load the 10 round mags and the recoil is a pain. I might gave to switch.
You've probably already thought of a mag loader, but for your situation it might be worth it, depending. Not that we ever want to talk someone out of getting a gun...just a thought.

I have a Maglula now to load magazines, but my broken wrist injury is making me recoil sensitive. I am shooting mostly left handed now.
