@@BrimstoneMoth Also, did he ever show how to get into ruins? Cuz I've never come across a cave entrance or ruin entrance and I have over 200 days of experience in this game in multiple worlds.
Yes! I was going to mention that briefly but decided against it. Living logs are so useful, and if you get lucky and know what to look for then you can definitely get some better gear!
@@Flynny the best method I've found is to plant a ton of pine cones near your base and use that patch anytime you need wood. Random treegaurd spawns for passive collection, and if you use a giant to clear the trees, treegaurd spawns can help whittle away at its health.
If you want a lot of thulecite you can go to the archives, the statues there drop thulecite and moon rock when mined and it's a safe place without enemies when is not active. Going there sort of kill the rush thing because you need to make a detour to find the blue mushtree forest but the amount of thulecite there is insane
here pretty good characters: Wx(i dont think i need to explain this really) wigfrid(no need for collecting any pigskin and is a big tank against bishops) Wolfgang(able to zip through if you can afford it) willow(using blue shrooms to heal, bernie can distract nightmare creatures when you go insane) Wortox (practically can zip through the entire labyrinth ) wilbur(not like he can befriend splemunkeys but he can zip through areas) Lastly:webber(he has only 100 sanity but you'll be insane anyways in the ruins cause of the nightmares and the blue shrooms you use for healing+ the labyrinth will be a breeze and you can even befriend a dangling depth dweller if you kill any worms) Lemme know if you have any other suggestions but these characters make it pretty easy if your new to ruins or dont starve in general.
With his update, I'd add wormwood to the list. One of his unlockable skills is flying lightbulbs, and he can heal with the poop dropped from monkeys, and you can make quick rot with lichen as well.
Imo the loot from the ruins is kind of self-redundant.. I mean that to get it you have to be a fairly proficient player. But then if you're a fairly proficient player, it won't matter if you have a spear and grass skirt, combat will be alright for you anyways. So then you don't much need the ruins loot after all. What you do need in the first season is construction material and loads of it which you get from farms in the overworld and not the ruins.
I find getting ruins loot is pretty helpful for playing in a group. A proficient player goes down and gets stuff that helps the less skilled players. But the most important things from the ruins aren't crowns and clubs, it's starcallers and gears.
I go with 1 or more ppl with me on DFT servers. I pick woodie for the wood and food(birch nuts) by day 4-5 i get log suits, 20-40 gold, pig skin for helms later, crockpots, alch engine, of food i get 10-15 trail mkxes some meatballs and stuff somone picks wig for the spears and helm and lastly WX or ghost girl only tiny problem is inventory cus we go in to get EVERYTHING and a 100% clear so we got 5 empty slots each max
But then you can't heal in the ruins using gears, which then turns this strategy into an intermediate guide rather than a beginners guide, due to the higher emphasis on sufficient combatting
@@retiredaccount6032 Then there's the layer of sanity to deal with. Trust me, after putting in hours into making a video on a beginners guide for ruins rushing, this is an airtight result. If you're not happy that's fine but this video isn't your discussion :)
I can make a video in the future covering most of the ruins content as kind of a detailed explanation and include it in there! :) For now, try to head for the middle of the caves, and look for a mud biome. The caves kind of form in a star shape, so get to the middle and you might be able to find it
@@Flynny Actually yes, I have a suggestion. I've been looking for a "simple" varg farm to farm some gems. Most videos I found so far require Winona and are targeted to endgame players(the mooncaller event farm for example). It would be enough for me to get just some gems out of it without too much hassle to build. Using the telelocator staff is fine with me, but the catapult requirement is kinda meh... There are other ways to kill hounds, utilizing mobs like pigs/bunnymen for example, spike traps, etc... If you have any idea in mind, I think a video on that topic would be awesome.
