    I'm a mechanical engineer for a living, and your design philosophy was one of the primary driving forces behind my choice to upgrade from a V8 to a V11. I used to work in the engineering department at Walt Disney World, and when I was there, a wise engineer with decades of experience took me underneath the guts of the Lilo & Stitch ride and showed me something wayyyy up in the darkness that was broken. He said, "you see that piece up there that's broken? Well, the person who designed this ride never considered the possibility that things could break, so he never bothered to make it so that they could be fixed. Whenever you design something in the future, operate under the assumption that literally everything you ever create WILL break at some point, and make sure that you make it so the people using it can fix it when it does."
    The ease of maintainability of my V8 gave me confidence that you would carry that design philosophy forward into your future designs, and I'm so pleased to see my suspicions were correct.
    Can't wait for my new wheel to arrive! Every video I see gets me more excited. 💖

      @@jackvolta3489 I'm not so sure. I can change the tire on my Inmotion V8 in under 30 minutes. This certainly has a lot more screws, but I suspect we don't need to remove all that was removed before the tire came off in this video. Eager to find out more.

    Oh man, that is a lot of screws! How much of that would be necessary just to do a tire change? Would you need to remove the batteries to access the tire for example? Also, could we see a little more of those batteries? It looks like they are encased in their own plastic case (like on the V8), which is very impressive! I don't know of any other manufacturer that does that. Details like that are what keep me buying Inmotion wheels. My V11 will be joining my V10F and my V8 in the next few weeks 😄

    220 Mosfets....2016 Style

    • @halohms
      @halohms 4 года назад

      No big deal. 12 of them and heat sunk with heat sink cooled to the outside of the case with active cooling. This has been the best design I've seen to date. Only improvement would be to use mica and paste instead of the pad.

    • @ullle66
      @ullle66 4 года назад

      halohms ??? Actually 12 Mosfets, AND the heatsink exposed to the outside is what you have on all KS and most of the GW wheels. (GW Tesla is an exception and some older Nikola version, all other GW have exposed heatsink)
      The only thing they DONT have anymore is those tiny mosfets. This 220 Mosfets are known for overheating or blowing, thats why all current powerfull EUCs use the bigger 247Mosfets.

    • @halohms
      @halohms 4 года назад

      @@ullle66 overheating is related to the heat sinking of the device. If the current handling of the Mosfets are the same, the case style doesn't have much effect if properly mounted and properly used and effective heat sink method. The pad and paste is not as good as mica and paste. In fact, pad and paste is worse than just pad itself and they put the paste on both sides of the pad which makes it even worse. Paste is designed to be used as thin as possible to fill in really really small surface imperfections of metal to metal surfaces and metal to mica to metal surfaces when electrical isolation is required. When you use paste in the pad use, the paste does not get squeezed thin because the pad deforms and takes up the compression and the paste remains thick. Paste is not a very good heat conductor when it is thick. Using the larger Mosfet case style helps a little by increasing the surface area to the worse paste pad paste to heatsink heat transfer. As I said, I'll change mine out to paste mica paste heatsink method instead of the pad with paste. It could have been made so much better by doing it right the first time. Problem is, it takes a lot more time and effort to do the paste mica paste method.

      Ok...i make it short:
      There is a reason that the powerfull brands like GW/KS have shifted to the bigger 247Mosfets. And that all has nothing todo with paste and contact....
      One small aspect is overheating, the other, much more important is, that with such large batteries and powerfull motors the board NEED that bigger mosfets. Both KS/GW have, one their first versions of wheels , tried those small 220 mosfets on first KS18, GW v3, even the first Nikola had them on. As real life, experience and time showed: the small Mosfets are just not capable enough to handle the high amperage, so they blowed when under stress like hills or heavy riders. And btw: thats one of the reasons why the v10 board had some serious overheat and powerhandling issues.
      In the end its just a shame that IM tried to save some bucks here...they should have thrown in a beefier board from the GetGo.

      @@ullle66 I haven't got the model numbers of the 2 different types of Mosfets to look at their individual specifications. BUT if they have the same electrical qualities in current and heat transfer resistance to their case, both devices will work just fine if properly mounted to the heatsink and the heatsink properly cooled. The problem is that they are using that pad with paste and that where the surface area of contact is improved with the larger case of the Mosfet. If the TO220 case is mounted using paste-mica-paste and screwed down with the screw hole mounting method instead of the PCBoard compression, then those Mosfets will survive more load than the larger mosfets with the pad method of heatsink mounting. (I'm an electrical engineer BTW). I replaced the pad with paste-mica-paste on my V10F and it would likely get up overheat hill with Marty as the load.
