I know him. He is just outstandingly gifted. His intellectual talent is beyond measure. He is with my telecaster go to person backstage the first person I seek. He, as the others, are exceptional family focused, exceptionally talented and a gift to all of us. Unpretentious, gifted and all of them loving. The Doobie Brothers are exceptional individually and as a group. Why? Because these men are married to outstanding women! Just listen to the music and your get it factor will click in.....Love of the music, family and the fans.

Terrific conversation with John McFee. As far as George Harrison is concerned, he was a great guitar player because he was wonderful at selecting the right notes for any song he played. It wasn’t the speed, it was his choice of notes. That talent comes from the soul.

I am an English guy who lived in the States for a while in the 70’s and loved the Doobies then and still do. Recently I have rediscovered them and woken up to how brilliant they still are. But the thing is, when you watch their live stuff now, there is something hugely charismatic and magnetic about seeing John McFee on stage. He makes it look so easy, he looks like he’s having fun, and engaging with the audience. Then you watch this and you realise he is also as nice a guy as there is, intelligent, articulate, and humble too. Without even mentioning his multi-instrumental brilliance. He is one of my all-time favourite musicians. With US politics in the state it’s now in, maybe he should run for President!

Totally bad ass musician that is totally humble and so smart! I see the Doobie Brothers every time they are in the Southeast. Hopefully I can see them in California one day! Great interview of an exceptional musician as well as a down to earth human being.
Have appreciated the Doobie Brothers on record and live most of my life.
Their catalogue of music stands the test of time, and always will.
One last thing, during this difficult time in all our lives here in the United States,
“People Gotta Love Again”. A beautiful song for these trying times....
Families and friends being torn apart over politics, has to stop...

mislead us for their selfish interests.

This is a great interview of a great musician. Love to hear these "old school" guys with real chops discuss their craft. These are the guys who made music when you had to have real talent to make records - like he said, real music. Cris Cohen conducts a great interview - do some research in advance, ask the question, sit back and let the guest tell their story. So many interviewers want to make it about them. Nice work from both John and Cris. Thanks.

We've been playing 'Long Train' since I was in high school ('79). For 2021 we are adding 'Black Water'. Always loved that song. Looking forward to the challenge! 🎸 🎹 🎤
