Why and when you should use a pollen trap?
A pollen trap is a device that fits over the hive entrance in order to collect pollen.
There are two very good reasons to trap pollen. The first one is to increase profits from your colonies of bees. Many people want to buy pollen for direct consumption.
The pollen fragments in collecting pollen and honey are digestible by people. It is these fragments that help relieve allergy symptoms for many people.
Traps should only be used during heavy pollen flows, and only for several weeks at most. When pollen is scarce, the colonies will need it all.
