Aloha from Oahu, Just got back to bees 15 days ago when a swarm came to my equipment in the backyard! Your trap seems a bit small, but I'm going to have to get one soon to try it out here. Before when we were a family business, Mark's Bee Haven, of the 220 hives I had, 10 were my pollen collectors on a 5 day 'on', 5 days off schedule. During those 5 days of collection, each hive gave 2 pounds of fresh pollen, which lead me to say the 'traps looked small for our needs here. NowI'm disabled and TBH's are the best shot at doing bees from home, vertigo keeps me from any useful shot at work. The traps I used were the bottom collectors of Mann Lake and my version of it and worked very well. These 'trap' were for a Langstroth hive, so either yours may work or I'm going to adopt a model to function for the high rate of pollen collection of our islands. Any ideas?
    Aloha,
    Mark Baker

A 1/2 gallon large opening jar can be screwed into the base of the trap. I don't sell these anymore, there wasn't enough demand for the cost of building. I did share the models on grabcad.com so if you have a 3d printer or know someone you can build one to try yourself. If the accumulation is too quick you could try putting more than one trap on the TBH, or empty it more frequently.

Aloha Stig, I'm just too 'old school' to not build it myself. I've got it almost build just right, my bees here seem to be a bit smaller than those I had on the big island. But since writing .], I've found the parent hive the swarm came from and I'm working them out of the underground area of the stump they came from.@@stigodiy2989

I would also try a lighter colored gate so they would see the dark entrance holes. It would be interesting to test those two options

Havi you thought about making the gate with the asterk shaped holes? Supposed to be the most efficient for stripping. Brushy mountain used to use them. If you at Dave cushmans site you can see them I can email you a scan of them.

Aloha, I'm about to redo the pollen trap[ Langtrough hive style] I had 20 years ago for a TBH. Just wondered if you had anything like those sold by Mann Lake[I used those and they worked fine with the 2 pounds a day they gave me]. The size needed to be under the hive to have enough space for the pollen as it came in at such a great pace.
