As a 50+ yr old black man I'm so glad I came up in a different era!
Growing up we had our own opinion but that's all it was, was an opinion. We had had daily chores & responsibilities our bed was made daily & rooms kept clean as well as other responsibilities being done around the house daily that must be done and a excuse was just that it didn't cause our responsibility to not be completed!
We had parents that didn't let us say we were going out with friends we actually had to ask permission and oftentimes we were told no with no reason why but through it all we lived to see another day!
Growing up we were able to participate in school activities and encouraged to play sports but home training, respect for others and the law along with our getting a good education was mandatory not an option! I now appreciate my parents for instilling respect, honor, being a good person all the time not part-time, always take accountability, discipline, be a good provider, be courageous, have selflessness, always being a good citizen to the community no matter where we may be, and never forget that family structure is fundamental to a good household!
I've retired from the Army after serving 32yrs retiring as as a E-9/CSM. I was able to obtain my Masters Degree and now I'm honored to have a civilian job continuing to work with the military. It all started with my parents, family, my community, coaches, and especially all of the teachers that cared about our education and not about our status be it financially or popularity!

As a Mama, Widow now, and a Grandma, it does my heart good to hear positive stories out there about the results of Good Parenting. There's so many parents these days that just give in , and give up with their kids, instead of instilling from the get-go, what it takes , the accountability, the hard work ethic, the values. From Wisconsin and having raised children it really opened my eyes to how many parents did not really care where there teens were. I always talked to the parents if their child slept over to make sure it was not just ok but if there was any medical issues etc. One parents response to their middle school daughter staying over was "oh that's where she is, yeah its ok". We were talking about a 12 yr old. These people didn't know me. I may not have been a perfect parent but there was no way my kids went over night unless I knew the parents.

Yes like the two teen girls who went on that weekend sleepover in Oklahoma and were murdered by that pedophile McFaddyn. The parents let their daughters go to a home and a family they had not met/known. Now the parents are boohooing about their murdered (and it seems raped and tortured first) daughters. These parents did not take any responsibility to check out the friends home (the stepdaughter of the murderer). And those 2 young girls paid for their parents laziness by losing their lives. Parents now getting their15 seconds of fame as victims now and their responses are unbelievable. Like they are taking it all in their stride like it’s just another day. The house was set up like a sex dungeon, and as the news camera crew walked through you could see sets of chains and handcuffs drilled into the wall in the walk through room off the kitchen as you walk in the door. And sex toys in full view on the shelf. What shocked me was the parents walking through behind the crew and picking up this stuff and looking at the chains and handcuffs, with not even a shriek or comment. When parents don’t even blink an eye at this kind of stuff, you know they did not care about their children.

If u go on tictok and read some of the post of kids talking abt their parents it wld leave you trembling. These kids r different and need to be keep an eye on. They r a different breed. First off they don't fight out a problem they shoot. Many r extremely uneducated but have a diploma. They have zero respect for elders and blame all their failures on generations bf them. Fact is they have lost all morals and any desire to earn their own way..in short they r the lost generation. I’m 18 now and I got my own place just to get away even tho I rented the basement apartment under her house because she was offering to pay my rent and deposit for the first 2 months just to keep me close I just wanted freedom but now I see why she was on my back like that. I couldn’t leave as a teen without her knowing exactly where I’m going she had to know all my friends parents and there number and when I got dropped off she had to see all the friends and ask them what we were doing and she would do it in a slick way so just incase we all made a fake story the way she asked it would get messed up and she had no problem making me get right back in the car and take me with her to Either go eat or go shopping she would make it worth it but she would always say your my baby ziya it’s only because in love you and can’t imagine loosing you she did this with all my siblings we couldn’t even sneak out cause she got a fence made and it was super high and she had it built back wards so I couldn’t climb it and she had 4 dogs they had a dog house that was built outside and they would bark if we left outside .. she always showed us videos and stuff like this but now as a adult seeeing this it breaks me . I can’t image this being my mother going through this looking for one of us now I see why she went to the lengths she did because no one deserves this . You have to understand, I was fixing cars, building/selling lawnmowers at 12, even painted my first truck. And at 15, I also worked on a Dairy Farm. And I STILL wasn't allowed the freedom to come and go. It's their Home, I live there. Their rules. Obey them.
