The Cougars are not fetching top dollars in classic car markets so you/we will not get the value for the time and $$$ spent, so if you love it, go for it, I’m with you. ❤
I always liked the cougars since you don’t see them every day. I would just focus on finishing the Bronco though. I almost picked up a ‘29 ford rpu that’s been on my wishlist for a long time. Talked myself out of it and decided to spend the money and time on my EB.
Hey Matt, I think the 68 would be my pick. The 69 is too far away from original for my tast. That steering rack and the loose front end Im cetain there's an issue there. You cant argue with the rust free condition of the unibody. Didn't get to see the underside of the 68. The 69 looks thrown together and speaks volumes about the type of work done. Good luck!
They would be worth it. As long you have a place to keep them ,or one of them. Brake job and small stuff for now and then when bronco is done then sell one to do the work on the other, or keep both.
I would go for it because what you show on the video, the 69, was in good shape. The 68 need some body work and paint jod, I would have someone do it. The 69 brakes I believe the value need to be adjusted. Not know the price I would it would be worth it.
Yes, you're crazy and it is cool. It sounds like you'd be happier with the 68. None of us need more projects, but the 68 does run and drive, so why not?
Remember on these projects Matt double the time you think triple the cost in general, but if you buy them right and do a full restore could be worth it. Do you like it enough to keep one? I see you more as a truck SUV type guy.
Matt, I like the video - I am an early Mustang & Cougar fan, that 69 does need some work but seems very solid compared to anything for sale in the midwest... Interested in the 69 actually, how could I find out more info about the car? thanks, Jeff
How can we give an opinion without knowing the cost? If the price is good then yes, buy them both. Heck if its a good enough deal I'll come buy one from you. Personally I like the "weird" muscle cars better than the cookie cutter Chevelles and Camaros.
Funny you should say you don't need another project. I have 8 Cougars and another 10 full size Mercs---plus other equipment. Cool Cougars, not sure on the asking price if it was worth it. But, that was like 7 months ago......sounds like I need to keep watching to see how the story evolves.
Hi, Matt! Thanks for the video! I know the idea of being in the middle of one project and seeing something that would be cool. I am not done with everything I want to do with my Bronco, but I bought a 1984 Jeep XJ with 84,000 miles. I decided I wanted a 4x4 with AC and a little more comfort than the Bronco, but still “simple” enough for me to do most of the work on. Drove it home (about 120 miles), but then have had one problem after another… basically I am looking at a lot of money in parts and paying an expert to show me how to get it where I want it to be… Bottom line, I didn’t need it at all, and now all it is doing is sitting there waiting for me to gather up the money and parts and find the time to work on it… So, like the guy commented above, double the cost, triple the time… I guess the question is, are you cool with it just sitting there taking up space until you have the time to work in it (assuming you are planning to finish your Bronco first!). I still think my Jeep will be cool when I get it done, but at this point I probably could have dumped that money on my Bronco and having it that much closer to being where I want it to be! Just my 2 cents.

I ended up letting them both go but I am still on the hunt for a pony car of some kind. Those were just a little too much work for where I was at the time. Now that the Bronco is finished, I am probably giong to start itching for something new.
I would buy both and fix them up slowly, they are both collectible and worth every penny.

Both will have equal problems in the long haul...and since you can fix anything the choice is clearly the 68. It's such a good looking Mustang 😂

I’ve always been a truck guy but I want a cruiser with NO FRONT AXLE. Trucks are just more work. I want something low and comfy

Wow that’s a serious dedication to mercs. I sold them both to a buyer for $15k so I basically got the 50 Chevy for “free”.

Me too actually. I don’t like the Camaros anymore though. I can’t afford the mopars. Tri fives are cool but impossible to find. Ah well
