Your junk journal is so pretty, with so many different types of things going on in it. I've never done one before, but would be interested in watching you painting the covers and how you make the inner pockets and cover tags. Gandalf just needed affirmation that you hadn't forgotten about him and that you still love him...what a sweetie 🥰
Thank you, and I'll definitely have to decorate the cover on that other book...all that brown is begging to be covered over with paint and/or paper! 😂 Gandalf is such a smoochie animal, and very much needs attention on a frequent basis. He's more like a dog in that respect, lol.
@@BeckyTregear That will be very helpful to watch you do the cover on your new journal. I don't have any cats at the moment, but mine were always such spoiled babies, following me everywhere. One would even sit on my lap while in the bathtub. He didn't care if his tail and legs hung over in to the water, he just wanted to be near me.
There are not enough ♥♥♥♥♥s to express how great your journal is. Like you, I collect all sorts of bits and bobs; gum wrappers, stickers I can prize off of food boxes, wrapping paper, tickets... It's great fun, isn't it? One of my favorite things is a paper wrapper that had been around an assortment of Japanese candies. Also, I adore all the pockets.
Becky, I love the way your mind works! I can relate - I collect scraps with colours and design and meaning that catch my eye - then never know what to do with them. You’ve inspired me to follow your example! Thanks so much for this! X 🇨🇦
It's such a fun way to use them up and turn many usless items into one larger item, which is still probably useless but it looks pretty and that's the main thing! 😁
I did get one of these journals originally (from that art store in shopping centres that closed during the pandemic) but as I went through a stage of a lot of people wanting the original drawings I was doing I went over to individual drawing pads just to make it easier. I have a "junk" drawing pad that seems to be mainly full of a child's drawings due to the child of my housemate's NDIS carer using it at one time.
Was it Riot by any chance? That's where I got my journal from, heheh. Original drawings are always wonderful to do so there's never a time to not make them! But I junk journal on the side for my sanity as well, lol.
beautiful book and a real labour of love, so many memories to treasure!! I don't do any scrapbooking or paper crafts, but I did try quilling a few years back and really enjoyed it, it's a very cheap arty hobby indeed :D loved this flip through! Thanks! :D
Quilling is quite fun! I tried it years ago and I'm sure I've still got some supplies in my stash somewhere. Maybe I'll have another go at that too, haha. 😂
What an awesome journal!! Thank you for sharing. I have a box full of clothing tags, for when I used to scrapbook. I have no idea what to do with them since I don't really scrapbook anymore. Yours are very cute. I would love to see you work in the art journal and make the tags!
Hi Becky, I love your junk journal! It is so beautiful and lovely. I am a junk journal wannabe lol. I do watch junk journal videos. I have some paper and have collected some tools for junk journaling. Now i just need to do it! Along with art!
Thank you! I think the collecting of journal and art supplies is a lot of the fun, and then using them gets quite intimidating, haha! I manage this by slicing my scissors into a piece of new paper and then it is wrecked so I can use it freely. 😂
It really has switched on some different creative pathways, which in turn is helping me get through a small art block I was experiencing recently. Win win! 😊
Wow! I can't say enough how cool this is! Beautiful cover deco! I love the little pocket inserts. I will definitely try those. I do a lot of the same things, but my book is junkier (if that's a word) 😂 I use cheap composition books with lined paper. I gesso the heck out of the front and back covers and maybe do a collage or paint with acrylics. I use stickers too. I then seal the covers with "fabric paint"that is clear, but glittery. It protects the covers from spills. I thought I'd share my technique. I save all kinds of stuff to add in my journal. It's nice to have a place for just crazy, messy painting, collage or jotting down thoughts and ideas. It can be so cathartic at times too. Thanks so much for sharing! I'm sure you inspire a lot of people to try different projects and techniques. I'm one of those people for sure. 👍🤗
Thank you! Glitter fabric paint....I'm intrigued! I do have some clear glitter regular acrylic, I wonder if that would work the same. I think any book works for a junk journal, and probably the cheaper the better really. For my next one I may end up changing my mind on the book as I have something else which could be even better. One of these days I'll make a decision! Have fun with your journaling. 😊
You're right. Acrylic glitter paint should work too. I've been using fabric paint for so long that I can't remember how I was introduced to it. I started junk journaling with Kerri Smith's book "Wreck This Journal" You have fun too. Thanks!
And just another quick note. If you use the stickers that are like the ones that come out of the "Antiquarian" style sticker books, they will wrinkle a little when the fabric paint goes on. Don't fret. They will smooth out when they dry. Just a helpful hint for any fellow art journaler🎨🤗 *I'm not sure what would happen with acrylic glitter paint.
I really need to make one of these because I keep so much sh*t😂 I also have a lot of artwork on bits of paper because when I started doing courses like Lifebook I was yet to wise up to the idea of using a sketchbook! They all need to be put somewhere instead of clogging up my paper shelves.
I love scrapbook papers, there's so many great designs. (I really liked the art one in your last video.) Unfortunately I'm only a scrapbook paper collector. I never seem to do anything with them. So during a cleanout a while back, I went through my papers and donated a lot and just kept a few my daughter liked and now I only look at them in the shops. I don't buy them 😥
You're not alone there! I went to a craft destash market and people were selling off their papers for cheap to fools like me who buy them and then I end up with ridiculous amounts of paper which need to be moved on....and so the cycle continues! 😂
@@BeckyTregearThanks for sharing your other creative projects. I actuallly look forward to seeing your cats make importu appearances in videos. So adorable. 🥰 I'll have to see if they've also got 'destash markets' here in Queensland where I live. Most of what Ive seen online are more on sewing/frabric crafts.😅
Ahhh, K&Co! I still have several original and new 12×12 paper pads from them and 2 unopened Smash Books with their pens! Becky, I don't think I could ever use them now, lol. You brought back a lot of paper crafting memories!
I've been keeping those card clothing tags because the card is so good but of course I haven't done anything with them - I also save all the string! I have used some of that on a brush wrap as ties. I do hoard all sorts and putting them all in journals like this would be a great idea...
Quality cardboard is very difficult to throw away! Clothing tags are the perfect size for papercrafting too - I keep the string if it's that nice cord they sometimes use. 😊
Congrats of finishing your Art book Amazing stuff. I am in the prrocess of finishing mine from 2022 November ! I have about 10 pages left. your is Awesome well done xxxx its all about learning and prcess to the Awesome Artist you are now . I have a trolly full of Junk behind me . I do junk journaling and collages book in progess, Happy swating hahahaha xxxxxx
Becky I’m looking for some waterproof Fountain pen ink and I’m wondering where I can buy some. I’m also in Australia Victoria that doesn’t cost the Earth. I’m looking for black but I’m also looking for other colours. Could you steer me in the right direction? I’m very new I have the pens, but I don’t have the ink.
Oh it has gotten so expensive and difficult to find here! I like De Atramentis Black Archive Ink, also sometimes called Document Ink...both are waterproof. I bought mine online from Cult Pens UK because it is cheaper to get it shipped from there! Ridiculous! But another thing is the Melbourne Pen Show is happening this month on November 26th at Malvern Town Hall, and I've picked up De Atramentis bottles from there in previous years too. If you can get to the Pen Show, it's a great way to find a bunch of local pen and ink related businesses. ❤️

I too find it hard to throw out pretty paper! What a great journal and keepsake. Love watching your video.
Thank you - it was good to wrangle some of the paper hoard into a book, heheh.

Clothing tags are so useful as bases for papering. 😄 I'll see if I can get a video made on the subject in the future.
I would love to see videos of your tags and arty junk journal process.
I'll see if I can get that together sometime!
Lovely junk journal, Becky! It was also really fun to see all the paper creations you did at the end. ♥️
Thank you! I'm in love with the concept of junk journals - they're so much fun to put together.
Love it! And the cover is so pretty! ❤❤❤
Thank you! Quite a few layers on there as I kept changing my mind. 😁
I use to do this I have collected so much over time I have to start doing this again
It's a great way to wrangle all the hoarded treasures together! 😁
Now I want to do that type of journal 🎉. Thanks for the tour 🎉
It's a fun hobby! Look up Junk Journaling and you'll open a whole Pandora's Box of insanity! 😂

Very inspiring, thank you.😁
