Wow. Novak had ZERO break point chances the entire match. That's absurd. I always liked Jannik but I was concerned he wouldn't hold up as well in best of 5 matches. I'm so glad I'm wrong. Go all the way!!🦊
As a Novak fan, it's a heartbreak. But happy for this young lad who is simply astounding throughout this tournament. Staying tough and brilliant baseline gameplay is enough for him to sum up the match. All the best for Final And for the haters, he is already 4 up from your Swiss grandfather and 2 up from your Spanish father. So cry as much as you want.
It's not a huge moment because he beat a nearly 37-year-old Novak. Had he done this to a prime Novak like when Soderling beat Nadal at Roland Garros, then it'd be something else.
He's not nearly as athletic as Federer nor does he have the great diversity of shots. Carlos Alcaraz is still the best player in the game, despite the loss to Zverev.
Not quite the variety of Federer, but good comparison in that he will dominate with his beautiful technique...alcaraz overrated, hes like a nugget version of deminaur, should be no.6 in the rankings
At least Rafael Nadal can tell his kids, as long as I've been healthy, no one dominates me on clay, let alone Roland Garros. Novak won't have that pleasure, unfortunately.
@@dlink4300 Please don't compare RG 21 semis and this match. Even though it was 4 sets, the RG match was a thriller, also remember Nadal was playing with a foot injury.
Sinner, Medvedev, Alcaraz and Zverev have reached an amazing level. I never saw such level in tennis before. The fact that Djokovic is still winning slams having such rivals (plus other beasts that are extremely good too, like Tsisipas, Khachanov, Rublev) is something that leaves me speechless. What happened last night is more real: the young genius showed the best that age matters, and that the end is probably approaching. Long live Nole!
Please bring me all those people who said that I don't 'get to decide' that a fresh face winning AO this time would be good for both the player and tennis. Fearless performance by Sinner. Very elegant celebration as well. A very likeable player, who I wish fulfils his potential by being injury-free and wins a lot of GS.
IMO, just by the game alone, excluding the mental and physical aspects (of which Novak is the undisputed GOAT), Sinner is far more dangerous and challenging to face on hardcourts, than even the greatest hardcourter of all time, Djokovic.
Calm down. The age is a factor here, os course. Sinner is truly amazing, but this is not the greatest Djokovic. That said, the final result maybe trick someone: that was a massacre. Sinner didn't allow a single break point to Djokovic for four sets, we can basically count this as a 3x0.
@arangomie8868 He didn't say Sinner was a greater or even better. He said more dangerous...which i completely agree. Djokovic is the GOAT because of a combination of factors like longevity, fitness, mentality, etc. And purely on the game, he beats you with his consistency and tactics. Not necessarily on power. Sinner, on the other hand, can hit you out of the game. Even though he's primarily a baseliner, he got that urgency to complete points fast, like Federer, and he goes all out on all his shots...definitely a very dangerous opponent when on song.
What annoyed me about this game was the constant glazing of Djokovic by the commentators like I get it he's phenomenal at his job🙄 . It made me cheer for Sinner even more.
Those old guys were beside themselves watching You-Know-Who fail. They couldn't wrap their head's around it. All the middle-aged guys love to live vicariously through him & extoll his virtues.
@@got2bjosh Well said. I dare say they were trying hard to manifest his comeback and I get it that its good for ratings but my goodness hearing that was so dreadful.
Incredible performance from Sinner. Did not give Djokovic a single break point chance. I think this is like Alcaraz at Wimbledon, the changing of the guard. Sinner is one of my favorites on tour now and I really hope he can win the whole thing. Also, where are all the Djokovic fans saying he’s “definitely” going to win the Golden Slam? 😂
The Djokovic cult members have been called to an urgent meeting at which it will be decided whose fault it actually was. Don't worry, it will be either Sinner or Medvedev the crown!
It's official now, the tides have finally arrived. Carlos beat him at Wimbledon, his second-most solid slam and Yannkik beat him in AO, his back garden. Now Novak is no longer the clear favorite in any tournament, he's still gonna be a close 2nd or 3rd, but he lost the edge that kept him above the competition for so long. The rise of a new era
wow congratulations. Now let's see Sinner and Alcaraz at his age. Novak turns 37 in may and he is still the number one.We got the the point where he is not allowed to lose a match? People are ridiculous. Still, wanna bet Novak doesn't winn a slam this year?
Djokovic is the favorite at every tournament until these guys pick up Slams. Meddy has 1, Alcaraz won US Open with an absent Djokovic, and got quite lucky sniper rifling him at Wimbledon. In total, the 'Next Gen' & 'Next Next Gen' have 3 Slams
2024 is going to be a weird year, I feel it in my bones. Djokovic being literally bullied at the Australian Open, for the first time... who would have thought!
*Totally G.O.A.T., even in defeat.* He's almost 37 years now and managed to win a set against Sinner. This marks the end of Sinner's perfect tournament. It's easy for a young and fresh 22 years old tennis player. 10 Australian Open, an absolute record. Go, Nole. I hope Zverev or Medvedev beat Sinner in the final. This Zverev is a real beast.
Elated for Sinner, what a great win and excellent fight from Djokovic he was up against a very inspired Sinner and Sinner looked unbeatable, Djokovic did the best anyone could against that firepower.
Time is starting to catch up with Djokovic and the likes of Alcaraz and Sinner are young and improving all the time - the shift of balance was inevitable at some point. I’m happy to see some new names on grand slam trophies, although can still appreciate everything Djokovic has achieved - he’s set such a high bar for these younger players. But now I hope we can go forward and have years of Alcaraz and Sinner rivalry, as well as the other promising players.
I'm so tired of this kind of comment, every time Novak loses you Fedal fans say that "time is catching up" and then he goes and win the next slam. You are so desperate to find new idols as nadal is basically retired and Novak keeps distancing himself from the other two
@@le0shadow I didn’t mention Federer or Nadal, I’m tired of the bickering between the three fan groups. I’m just personally looking forward to a wider variety of grand slam winners and seeing the younger players do well.
Djoko has got nothing to prove. He is now unquestionably the only GOAT. Even here it seems old Djoko is defeated by young Djoko. Sinner's game reminds us of young Djoko.
Unbelievable performance by Jannik!! The way he dominated and overpowered Novak all over the court was elite. He has so many weapons. He got challenged by Novak with the 3rd set, didn't crumble, and composed himself for the 4th. He is playing with so much confidence and maturity. Novak couldn't break him. This is Jannik's time, and he can win this AO. BRAVO!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Novak will win couple of slams but new gen is here. Sinner finally rising. Alc despite losing here on fast surface will be threat everywhere. Zverev n med raising their games. Good for tennis
Sinner's level is insane but his mentality matches it. Djokovic has seen a lot of guys with a great level but they wilt against Djokovic's mental game because they don't really believe they can beat him. It even happened to Sinner at Wimbledon in 2022. Great to see him finally get past that on the big stage.
Lack of consistency from Djoko. If it was against a 50 in a world he would have found a way out of this match, but against a top 5 player with a solid serve, powerful, deep and explosive shots while remaining very tactical, there was no way he was going to win this match. Congrats Sinner to have kept a really high level of tennis consistently the whole match. Even when Djoko tried to elevate more his game , he never choked and kept his head cold. Very impressive. I'm rooting for him to win the title .His progression since the end of last year is fun to see. Go Sinner Go.
So many surprising errors from Djokovic, but then he dropped sets in his first two matches and hasn’t really looked his best all tournament. Maybe not 100% fit but yeah he’s getting old, it happens to everyone.
@@CL2- Well he did play terrible. He had close to 30 unforced errors in 2 sets.. how is it going to be even a match when half of the points he dumped into the net or long .. Taking nothing away from Sinner,, he played solid but the tennis was pretty average! Twice no of errors as opponent definitely will kill you!!
Finally, Sinner figured out the way to beat the Djoker. He hit the ball deep into the baseline corner. Alcaraz did that at the Wimbledon and won. Extremely happy for him. I'll be happy to see either he or Medvedev win the final tomorrow.
So great to see Sinner maturing into the powerhouse he was always meant to be. I remember watching him at the 2019 Next Gen Finals when he was Italy's wildcard and was ranked 93 in the world at 18 years old. He won the whole tournament. This kid was always special and cannot wait for him, Alcaraz, Rune, Fils to take over the tour for the next decade!
Two things we've never seen at least on the hallowed courts of the Australian open: - Novak being moved around like rag doll. - Novak being utterly dominated on the BH to BH exchanges.
Agree, but you have seen the entire match the quality of tennis was pretty average. Novak played really bad - as soon as some sort of rally was about to develop he dumped his shots in the net.. 54 UE in 3.5 sets is ridiculous... Frankly he should have been done in 3 - it was like someone else playing.
Jannik Sinner is on a whole other level right now. Beating Djokovic on his favorite court is nothing short of amazing. This is Jannik's time now. John McEnroe said a few years ago when Jannik was playing Challenger events, "He is a future champion." After Sunday, I think "future" can be changed to "present." 🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕

Sinner deserved it, because he wants to face. In November he beat novak in round robin match and did not lost the next round match to avoid the match against Novak. He faced Novak in final and lost, but show the courage. And now in AUS open semifinal he did
Djokovic is nearing his 40s. I saw this coming. That 47-0 record as the top seed at the Australian Open was crazy, but most of that was when he was in his prime. Sinner is at the start of his prime, and a prime Sinner would give Djokovic problems at any point in his career on this surface. The people who thought Djokovic would roll didn't take into account his age. He's getting older with each passing year, so take his career accomplishments with a grain of salt.
@@RobbieStacks90 I could definitely see today. Sinner played an impecable match indeed. However in some rally , I was thinking..5/10 years ago Djoko would have never miss that shot. I saw in couple rallies ESPECIALLY IN LONG rallies that Djoko was late to reach the ball and lacked reflexes ..wich made many of his unforced errors. People praise Djoko for the quality of his returns, but the basis of his game is first thing first : consistency..which lacked today.

Sinner making history!
The bully becomes the bullied. The ego, arrogance, and the invincible aura of the greatest tennis player of all time shattered to smithereens on his home turf by the humble Italian.
Sinner has the finesse of Federer. An absolute gentleman on court. Now for the Trophy I hope.

Tennis becomes beautiful with these bullies becoming bullied atleast temporarily 😂😂😂 and between his arrogant fans and the TV commentators who keep singing djokers praise even when he's losing dunno which is more cringworthy 😂😂😂
Wow. Novak had ZERO break point chances the entire match. That's absurd. I always liked Jannik but I was concerned he wouldn't hold up as well in best of 5 matches. I'm so glad I'm wrong. Go all the way!!🦊
well he had to at least mini-break him or he wouldn't have won the tiebreak
As a Novak fan, it's a heartbreak. But happy for this young lad who is simply astounding throughout this tournament. Staying tough and brilliant baseline gameplay is enough for him to sum up the match. All the best for Final
And for the haters, he is already 4 up from your Swiss grandfather and 2 up from your Spanish father. So cry as much as you want.
He made a huge moment in the tennis history 🥕 🇮🇹 Congrats Sinner 😃
It's not a huge moment because he beat a nearly 37-year-old Novak. Had he done this to a prime Novak like when Soderling beat Nadal at Roland Garros, then it'd be something else.

Too soon to say. You're comparing a guy who hasn't won any slams as yet to 24 times champion. Let the time tell and we shall see
@arangomie8868 He didn't say Sinner was a greater or even better.

Time is starting to catch up with Djokovic and the likes of Alcaraz and Sinner are young and improving all the time - the shift of balance was inevitable at some point. But now I hope we can go forward and have years of Alcaraz and Sinner rivalry, as well as the other promising players.

Thank you Sinner.. you have all the gratitude in the world right now.
